Dropped brand new motor and then lied about it and said it came out of the crate that way. Crank pulley had damage clearly from same drop and rob claimed the motor came with the pulley and that he had pictures to prove it. When he didn't produce pictures like I asked I pointed out that the pulley is a special part that drives my booms hydraulic system (ie there is no way the pulley came with the new motor) and rob said "oh yeah my guys must have damaged it when pulling off the old motor" BS! Vehicle had pre existing issue with idle speed that shop was very aware of. Idle issues were still present upon pick up, ac pulley was damaged. Rob told me to put some miles on it for the idle to settle in and pulley noise was hydraulic pump and not his deal or doing. Engine was idling at 3000rpm by the time I arrived home. Found that the screw on throttle body that should not be adjusted had been grabbed with vice grips and turned to raise idle. Replaced throttle body myself which helped but still had the original idle issue. Reluctantly, at the urging of my one friend that likes this place I brought it back. I bought ball joints to install myself but I was told to bring it back on Friday so he could fix the idle issue. When dropping it off I told rob ball joints and shocks were new in boxes inside and to go ahead and put them on. THAT WAS 5 MONTHS AGO! Several ignored texts, friends telling him to fix my vehicle and a $500 tow bill due to needing new batteries and having a flat tire from sitting behind their shop so long I am getting my vehicle fixed elsewhere. If you're that 1 in 10 great, stick with them! If you're thinking about going here for the first time or going back after getting poor service, don't waste your time!

I tried to bait Lance into saying that the mechanic who did my oil change had let all of the Freon out because all the system needed was to be recharged, but he wouldn't. He stayed professional. Today I got in the car and the AC is still working. Almost 10 years later and he remembered me when I walked thru the door and he gave me the same service he gave me them! I'm so glad she did because the guys who work at Layfield are awesome! Super friendly customer service paired with very reasonable pricing on parts and labor. I've visited these guys a good handful of times this year and with each repair, they've been very clear with their communication, giving me regular updates throughout the day on the job status. They won't perform any labor without calling and receiving your prior authorization. If it's a quicker repair, they have small waiting room with free wifi provided. If it'll take longer than an hour, they're happy to drop you off at work if you work in the Downtown, Westend, or Westside neighborhoods. When my vehicle needed to stay over night, they were happy to provide a loaner car to help me get home. Highly recommend Layfield. While I hope I don't have to frequent them for car repairs, they would be the first auto shop I'd want to visit!

After being treated not so great at the Goodyear on Ponce ( close to my house), I was on the search for someone who didnt suck to fix my car. I think I found it here at Layfield! After reading the yelp reviews and the spiel on their website, i decided to just go with it. I had my car towed there and they had it diagnosed the same day. I needed 2 CV Axles, which I knew they were bad. Their quote was really reasonable, about 75 less than Goodyear. All of this happened during the first snow storm of 2014 so it took a couple of days to get my car back because parts couldn't get there and one day they were closed like the rest of the city. Customer service was good and the cars were in a super safe location. So far my car is still coming along well. I felt like they were honest and fair. I will totally take my car there again when I need to.
