Poor guy, he was so depressed. All of that changed when he started going to Schelastic Academy. What a positive, safe environment it was for him. He worked hard, he persevere and grew into a wonderful young man. This school works with the kids so they feel loved and accepted. And their education programs thru the computer is self paced, but they do need to keep on top of their studies. I have enjoyed and love this school for my grandson. It will be a wonderful school to watch your child grow and achieve and grasp everything they can through Schelastic Academy.

Finishing up my fourth year at this school. There were rumors a girl was suspended for leaving a…read morenegative review. I came to this school to escape bullying at my local public school. The building is too small and overcrowded. I've had classes with over 20 students and ones with only ten students. If you are thinking about enrolling your child in this school, go to trinity valley instead. While I am fortunate enough to have the option of changing schools, I am at the point in my education where I have built up so many friends that it would be a waste to start over. The funding for this school is a joke. Two years ago there was an electrical fire. The visual art department is severely underfunded and undersupplied. The choir students are the golden children, and are at the top of the pecking order. Every classroom on the top floor has stains in the ceiling tiles from leaks in the roof. The bathrooms are terrible. Take into account the fundraisers every year that make around 50k for the school, and you question where the money goes. The 25-26 school year was a rollercoaster for the staff. It began with the new art teacher getting fired for looking up girls skirts when they would grab supplies from the high shelves. Then the tech theater teacher was fired for ignoring the needs of neurodivergent students, as well as reports of him being creepy around the girls. Long term subs were found for both of them. However, two weeks before the end of school, when the teachers re-signed their contracts, several were told they wouldn't be able to come back next year due to budget issues. While complaining to one of my affected teachers, she alluded to the idea that the superintendent got a raise, despite these "budget issues". In my opinion this was scummy of admin, as the affected teachers wouldn't be able to claim all unemployment benefits as they weren't technically fired. The bullying among the elementary, middle school, and freshman students has gotten terrible. Nothing is done by teachers. There are no anti-bullying programs. The counselors are only there for dual credit classes and scheduling. High schoolers are under an insane amount of pressure. We are all heavily encouraged to enroll in dual credit courses, and even if you don't, your friends are in them, and you start to think you aren't smart enough compared to them. I personally know a girl who cries when her grades are under 95. One of the only positives about this school is the teachers. Almost all of the teachers are amazing and kind individuals. While a good chunk aren't that great at actually teaching, they are all so kind and supportive. If they weren't there, I probably would have come to school sobbing every morning. Many of the issues this year were not addressed by the new principal. Not to mention we had no vice principal the last half of the second semester. TLDR: this school is severely underfunded, teachers aren't paid enough to care, it will ruin your child's mental health. You have to buy uniforms then pay to dress out. While it's certainly better than some schools, just look for a better one. At this point in time, FWAFA isn't worth it.

I don't agree with no cell phones. I know it's a state law but I don't feel my child is protected. She has severe anxiety and wears headphones and listens to music, so I got her an mp3 player this year. It helps but if she needs me she has to either go to nurse or email me. Until violence in our schools is controlled, I think cell phones should be allowed! Teachers can manage cell phone usage in classrooms. Even most teachers disagree with the cell phone ban.

(After assuring me that the whole class, other than my child, saw no fetus, she later admitted it happened.) Key School supported that same teacher's emphatic declaration that America is not in any part a democracy while studying the Constitution. They supported him, teaching the children that only violent criminals were being deported while innocent immigrants are being disappeared into Venezuelan concentration camps. That is not just a biased opinion- he is teaching outright untruths. His beliefs are not academic and far from neutral. In fact, they align with Trump's cult beliefs rather than the true Republican party ethos. To sum it up, if you are affluent and looking for an overpriced, Fox News-based, fascist propaganda education with some racism and sexism thrown in now and again, as many Texans likely are, this is your place. Those looking for a real education and equanimity for all students should seek it elsewhere.

She has never shown any fear when it comes to being in or under the water. So after the summer ended, we decided it was important to enroll her in swim lessons--not only for her safety, but also to give her more structure and proper instruction. We started lessons in mid-January. At first, progress felt slow because some of the coaches seemed more focused on following their lesson checklist than allowing her to actually swim and build confidence. They often held onto her, and we felt like she was regressing a bit. Then we found Coach Ryan, and everything changed. He has been fantastic! Instead of constantly cradling her, he gives her clear instructions and allows her the opportunity to learn and swim on her own. It has been so much fun watching him work with her and seeing her confidence grow. Within about three weeks, he had taught her how to float on her back by herself! Now we're working on more consistent kicking and helping her confidently roll from her belly to her back. That's one thing I would recommend though is consistency of the coaches. They have high turn around and I feel like everytime we have to change coach she regressed. On the positive note. I also want to give a huge shoutout to Taylor. She is absolutely amazing! She is incredibly attentive, always willing to help with scheduling, and keeps everything running smoothly. Honestly, I don't know if the parents would be nearly as happy without her. Overall, this is a wonderful place for children to become comfortable in the water, learn essential water safety skills, and build confidence while having fun. We highly recommend it!
