Because of past dental trauma, I hadn't been to a dentist since 2020. I called several offices that morning, but Nora was the first person to answer. Her kindness immediately put me at ease, and she got me scheduled quickly. That same warmth greeted me when I walked through the door. Then I met Kayla, who was an absolute Godsend. I came in already struggling with a cane and boot from an ankle injury, and we connected over her own experience with an injury. She explained everything before doing it and was incredibly gentle with my photos and X-rays. But what meant the most was her compassion. When I became emotional about the years of damage to my teeth, she handed me tissues, reminded me to breathe and told me, "one step at a time." I never once felt judged. I felt safe. Vanessa, my hygienist, was incredibly kind, informative and compassionate. Dr. Kim took his time explaining what was happening, what could be fixed and all of my options. When I asked for his personal advice, he explained how each option could affect me long-term, which helped calm so much of my anxiety. Finally, Letty walked me through my treatment plan and finances. I came in for a free consultation scheduled at 4:45pm, but unfortunately, corporate booked the appointment without consulting the office. The doctor does not take consultations after 4pm, and the office is also unable to honor the free consultation unless it's specifically noted in the patient notes by corporate--which, in my case, it wasn't. Even though the situation was frustrating, the staff handled it incredibly well. They took the time to explain everything clearly, directed me on exactly what to say when I called back to reschedule, and even tried their best to get me seen the same day. (They absolutely would have if my appointment had been earlier.) I was able to reschedule for the following morning, which I really appreciate. I've been dealing with severe wisdom tooth pain, so I didn't take the news very well at first--but Elena and Vershawn were amazing. They were patient, understanding, and genuinely kind. This visit was a waste of time for our family. We were referred to this place because we have kiddos that all needed a checkup. When I called to make the appointment the person helping me told me they take kids and would be able to handle their services but when we show up we're told they don't have a children's dentist. The staff did a good job overall but it wasn't disclosed from western dental that we can't get any procedures done here and now have to make a follow up appointment somewhere else.
