Been coming here for years. Finally decided to leave a review. There is no questioning that this is a cool store , great selection of music, posters etc. Have noticed this aspect im about to mention every single time I see these two people..either the owner, or his son. Absolutely miserable demeanors..rarely a "smile" rarely a "hello"..they both appear to have the personalities of stones. I believe they get away with this because they have little to no competition on the western slope. Sometimes when I've come in, there have been different employees than these two, and the difference is striking ..but these owners ..I mean..wow. The arrogance reeks . I would venture to say that many people who give this place 5 stars would acknowledge this..ie, great store, unfriendly arrogant owners. This is the result of 30 + years with no competition in a small town. Nobody should expect "Disneyland" service and smiles and welcomes ..but neither should one have to deal with what I've described here. read more

Been spending a lot of money there and loved buying local until my last experience. Owner jacked up the prices from one week to the next. Staff is usually awesome but not this person. Many times the records we buy are scratched or not the correct record in sleeve but I wanted to support their business, but not anymore. Boxes upstairs collecting dust but up the price to just make money. Very disappointing. Lost a customer! read more

This shop focuses most on used vinyl in the classic rock genre. That's right up my alley so I loved it but might not be what everybody is looking for. Still found some new LPs to purchase anyway. The shop has a great vibe. The gentleman who welcomed us in and helped us out was very kind and friendly, ready to talk music, which is exactly what makes a record store great. The only downsides are probably that the selection is a bit limited, not a ton of variety and the prices seemed a bit on the high side for a lot of records I saw. But still they have loads of classic albums and plenty of more obscure albums and they all seemed to be in great condition. Lots of fun to dig through the crates here. read more

When downtown Grand Junction make time to stop by and browse. You're bound to discover something. If you're into vinyl, music or play. I happened by while visiting and found 2 unique blues records for my collection. The owners were great and helped everyone in the store make the most of their experience. He had great stories of meeting blues artists and concerts. It was an all ages show while I was there and it was cool to see a new generation discover some rock LPs. They have organized collections available and protect the albums with sleeves. A big shoutout for helping me protect my finds with plastic wrap and cardboard mailer! The LPs made it safe and sound through the airline baggage handlers. I wish I could have stayed longer because I imagine they have more discoveries to be made. This shop ROCKS! Someone called me to say they had my disc and then I guess liked it so much they decided to keep it He must've lost it and it got turned into this shop, 250 miles from my home! A year later! I tell Triple Play as such when they reach out and they happily ship it to me FUH FREE. If I could give less than 0 stars.... What an extremely rude, awful place to be. Unbelievable how bad I was treated. I accidentally stumbled down a small step and told the worker (Rock?), who was standing next to me, that there should be tape across the entire step to better see it. He didn't bother to ask me if I was ok or anything. He literally followed me to the back of the store and tried to confront me about it...What????? I still bought a cd, then left the store as I told him I wouldn't be back "a$$h@le". He followed me outside and continued to rant. How weird!! My recommendation is to stay out that store. Buy online. It's less annoying than dealing with that creep. read more

So hit this place up a few months back when on the western slope and first thing I noticed walking in was.... nothing. No hello, how's it going, not a recognition. Pretty much everyone seemed disinterested. Oh well - still shopped around. Saw some good things but noticed prices were damn high. Same releases I find on the front range were $5 or more, damn! I asked up front it prices flexed and got a huge NO. So I walked away with nothing. I was back in town and after hitting up the awesome Pablo's Pizza I stopped in. Again, no hellos or recognition and same high priced stuff. This time I saw some likes and counted how much higher prices were than what I can just buy online with Discogs and know what? The five releases I was looking at I can get online cheaper - and have about $15 saved and that's with shipping. So finally, unless you gotta have the record store wanderer vibe and don't mind being gouged by inflexible prices, shop here. If you don't want to be acknowledged or talk shop with fellow enthusiast, than shop here. I'll just go online. I guess being the only place on the western slope helps you last 30 years - better hope competition doesn't enter the scene. read more

What a wonderful surprise, a record store on my vacation! I was pleased to find a few records, that I had not been able to locate in the Denver area. This place is very clean and well organized. It made searching for vinyl fine. One caution is that they are a bit expensive. I didn't mind paying a little extra for the three records I bought because I normally would not see them in record stores. I'm not sure of other collectors with different list would feel the same as I do. It's definitely worth stopping in and looking through the selections. read more

A decent record store with an OK selection of records. Prices are steep for condition of used vinyl, especially if they are obscure titles for the area. There's no limit to classic rock selection (which I avoid) and I saw one copy of Herb Alpert's "Whipped Cream...", so a pretty typical stock considering the geographic location. The sole staff was friendly. I will keep going back when in the area just in case they have something I cannot live without, at a justifiable price, in great condition, and not something I can otherwise source via Discogs. read more

My experience at triple play records was nothing but awful. I was visiting from out of town and wanted to get some Incense sticks because they have ones that you can custom pick. I decided to get 5 incense sticks and didn't want anymore. I went up to the front to check out and the older gentleman with glasses was so disrespectful. I have never in my life had someone speak to me the way that he did. I put my items on the counter and he told me that I needed $3 worth of items to check out. I looked to see if I had cash and realized I didn't so I was going to pick something else out until he said "your not gonna break your bank Jesus fu**ing Christ" and tossed the incense back at me. I had no issue with buying another thing to hit $3 until he said that to me. After he said that I decided I didn't want to buy anything from such a rude person. I went back and put the incense away and walked out of the store. He proceeded to follow me out of the store and yelled. "Yea you can go somewhere else". The sad part is the other two guys in the store were very nice and respectful. And I see that this place has really good reviews so I am a little confused as to why he talked to me the way he did. read more

My husband of 35 years passed away recently of prostate cancer. It been tough trying to decide what to keep and not keep. I decided to take two boxes of his albums to Triple Play Records in Grand Junction to sell. I knew I wouldn't get very much for them but anything would help. I left the records there and I got a phone call telling me that they would offer me $100 for the albums. I said I would think about it and call them back. I called back and left a message that I would go ahead and accept it and they could mail me the check for $100. There was a miscommunication and I never received the check. I called back and they promptly sent me a check. The check came. It was for $50. I called them and told them that they offered me $100 not $50 and that I would like my albums back if that's all they were going to give me. He was very rude and said that that's all I was going to get and the albums were sold. I sent their $50 check back. I'd rather have nothing then let them get away with stealing and lying. Very dishonest people. Sell your records someplace else. I guess stealing and lying is an okay way to do business. Do you think I'm lying just to get 50 extra dollars out of you? You make me sick! Donating to the American Cancer Society. Your conscience should tell you to donate a lot more than $50 to them. read more

The owner, "Rock", has practically, an encyclopedic knowledge of Music. He (and his staff), have been about 98% success, ( still tracking down 1 piece of vinyl), at supplying my needs. The vintage vinyl I have purchased has always been in excellent condition and very reasonably priced. Who could ask for anything more. Commercially, Triple Play is is one of the best storefronts on Main St. in Grand Junction. This 68 y. o. woman will be buying vinyl there until she has EVERY RECORD until she has everything she wants! read more

I think this would be a good place to buy records and music. They seem to have a pretty decent and updated selection. However, I was not in there to buy music. I bought a t-shirt that I thought was pretty overpriced. I thought their posters weren't bad on pricing but they didn't have the one I wanted in stock so the girl sales associate took the one out of the display and rolled it up for me. I asked for some kind of protective sleeve to put it in. They didn't have one. I checked out and then went home. I brought it back as soon as I unrolled it. The poster was stained and was all wrinkled on the edges. They refunded my money but I really got the vibe that they weren't sorry and that I was inconveniencing them. Thieves. If you lose a disc golf disc and whomever finds it brings it here (if you have your name written on the disc they call you) and they charge $2 so you can get your disc back. If you bring someone else's disc in they don't give you $2, nope they give you $2 in store credit which probably costs them less than $1, and they just write the credit on a business card. Well, if you wash/lose the card you're SOL because they treat everyone like a liar or a pothead, and don't trust you when you say you forgot to take the card out of your pocket and washed your pants. Cash doesn't dissolve in the wash. Plus, if you don't claim your disc in a month they clean off your name and re-sell it. I hope if someone finds any of my discs they call, I'd rather pay them $2 cash than give Triple Play a penny of my business. Not only that the owner is rude and most of the employees are not friendly. I never see anyone smile. read more

When I first came to Grand Junction looking to move here, one of the first stops I made was at Triple Play, just to make sure the town had a decent record store. While looking around, two employees (the owner's son and a sweet gal) struck up conversation with me and made sure I got whatever help was needed. When they found out I was thinking of moving here, they showed me on their computer some great resources for finding apartments and a ton of tips about the area. Since then, I've visited their shop countless times. Every time I'm there, they are always willing to help me. Whether I'm looking to trade in records, looking for rare editions, or needing to order online, they are there to help. They are a wonderful part of the Grand Junction community and they make me feel at home! read more
