I've been training at Triple Seven since July 2023. I did the 6-week program and once I got to know the other students and professor Matthew I was ready to take the plunge and do a year membership. Professor Matthew is a great owner and really great to talk to you about your personal goals. He really takes the time to get to know you and is extremely helpful in teaching you how to be a better martial artist. He is really invested in his students and you can tell how well he has built his academy based on the wonderful community of students he attracts. Doing Jiu Jitsu on a weekly basis, I've noticed significant changes in my life such as more confidence, a stronger build, more endurance, better relationships, and overall knowledge of how to defend myself in hand to hand or grappling situation. I started Kickboxing training with Coach Mike. He is very professional in his training and it is obvious he really enjoys what he does. My first couple of days I learned my basic punches and kicks. I also learned many punching and kicking combinations. The owner Coach Matthew is very knowledgeable and is very patient in his teaching but also very welcoming on new trainees. Triple Seven Jujitsu is an incredible place to train, In a world of mediocrity and "McDojos", it's a standout. Instructor Mathew teaches authentic and technical Brazilian Jujitsu, including rolling, gauntlets, and physical training. You can immediately tell, he loves the art, but further than that, his focus is on getting the individual what they need to progress and be strong. The classes are long and you can come as many days as you want to train, this is in sharp contrast to a McDojo culture of (1hr twice a week or pay more). I can't say enough about Matthew Pollino. Professor Matthew is a black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and has been training my 6 year old for almost 2 years. If you're looking for westernized kid's karate, then don't come here. Matthew is able to balance the complexities of BJJ (Brazilian Jiu Jitsu), have a disciplined environment and still create a fun atmosphere. I suggest you sit in on a few martial arts classes from other academies/teachers and you will realize how difficult it is to teach an art like this to young kids. Professor Matthew is a fantastic trainer. I've been studying and learning Jiu Jitsu for almost two years, and started with Matthew for a couple months now and I'm convinced he's the most talented and knowledgable instructor I've had the privilage of working with. He has a very unique and balanced training style and is quick to help me spot and overcome certain hangups I have on different techniques to help me perfect them. It's been a rewarding experience. Learning not only how to do certain techniques, but why you have do them in a certain way so you aren't making yourself vulnerable to counter-attacks. Professor Matthew has taught my 9-year-old life lessons as well as Jiu Jitsu. At our previous martial arts establishment my son attended, Professor Matthew was personally responsible for moving the youth jujitsu program forward in a positive direction. My son was 6 when he met Professor Matthew at that establishment which was in a state of flux/going through changes and falling apart. Once Professor Matthew came on board he took charge and changes were noted as he moved it forward in a positive direction. Matthew was able to make changes that impacted the overall quality of the training. Matthew took charge of what at times seemed like a "Lord of the Flies" gang of youngsters into a more disciplined squad. Matthew isn't militant, he just seems able to combine the right amount of seriousness with play. He isn't hard nor is he soft; he is able to switch between The Master and a sensitive caring coach with ease whenever the situation or child calls for it. He also does a great job of integrating new kids and making them feel like they belong. Matthew is incredibly knowledgeable and without him the program went south wouldn't be the same. And it wasn't; he struck out on his own and we switched locations too. I have seen him instruct a class of 20 kids and have been lucky to have my son attend his One-on-One sessions.
