Fit Buddha changed my life, seriously! I had not worked out for over ten years when I started because I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2012. I underwent a bilateral mastectomy, and went through another 10 (yes 10) reconstructive surgeries over the course of two years and topped that off with spinal fusion 4 years ago. I had just turned sixty and honestly felt I was forever doomed to a weak, shapeless body. I was shy and embarrassed. But from the moment I walked into Fit Buddha, everything shifted. I absolutely LOVED my class at Fit Buddha! I try to take studio workout classes when I'm traveling because its a great way to chat with locals and move my body when I'm on vacation! I'd had a not so great experience with another pilates studio in Ventura so I was happy when Fit Buddha was personally recommended to me. The studio itself is SO CUTE and definitely fitting with the name. The instructor was full of energy even at an early morning class and the music was bumpin! I haven't used this specific reformer before but they're generally all the same so I was able to figure it out pretty quickly. The instructor was excellent about watching and correcting everyone's form and asking about injuries. She paid a little closer attention to me since I was new and gave me lots of shout outs and encouragement which I appreciated. But HOLY CRAP this was probably the HARDEST reformer pilates class I've ever taken (maybe also top 5 hardest workouts of my life and I'm an athlete!). I was sweating profusely the entire time and I sadistically loved every moment of it. Within less than an hour I feel like I got an incredible workout and was sore for DAYS afterward. If I lived in Ventura I would absolutely make Fit Buddha a consistent part of my workout routine! You guys rock!! read more

Marcus and Eva are great instructors with so much knowledge about the body and proper alignment really appreciate how they both take their time to make sure each student is doing each move safely and effectively. I recently found out that they do a *gong bath* at the end of the last few classes on Fridays and Sundays and wow! I've never felt more satisfied after a Pilates class. Gong baths are like an internal massage where they clear out any negative energy left in the body and I loved every minute of it, especially after a strenuous workout! read more

I tried this incredible gym, which I found out is a mixture of Pilates and Core Toning, by purchasing a four-day intro pass on their website via Yelp(you should research promos and free intro classes if you want to try it out first before committing)! Cheryl and Sissy are both amazing instructors, patient and extremely helpful for beginners like me. The workout was like none other and challenged me to use and even discover muscles that I didn't even know existed! If you are anything like me, you will likely be sore the next morning with your muscles dancing in delight of being used in a different way!! I've been a fan of the lagree pilates method (mega-reformer) and was stoked to discover that there was local studio (I drive from Ojai to Ventura almost 4x/week for their classes). The community there is awesome and I absolutely adore the classes with both the co-founders - Marcus and Eva Kettles. They're very supportive and genuinely provide a fantastic energy. I've been a devotee to Lagree Pilates for about 3 years now. I've always been active and worked out regularly, but in those 3 years I've seen huge results in different ways. It's allowed me to work through back injuries and adapt the moves while still building strength. I've tried every kind of treatment to alleviate back pain, but with has been even better for me than physical therapy. My mom used to remind me to "hold my shoulders back", and because of the injuries I couldn't. Now she comments on how improved my posture is. My overall strength level has improved dramatically. I feel it the improvement in every day activities and it motivates me to keep building on it. The megaformer has never gotten easy, you can consistently make it more difficult as you get stronger. You can get so much out of a 40 minute workout- it's easy on your joints but is always challenging. Whenever I have friends of family visiting, I make them try a class with me. I'm such a believer in Lagree I want everyone to see how much this class will kick your booty! read more

She is such an awesome instructor, you never feel lost so you get the most out of your work out. The classes caters to advanced, beginners, pregnant women and everyone in between. Love love love Fit Buddha! The instructors are all different so find the time and trainers that work for you. I do the unlimited package because it keeps me committed and I try to exercise 6 days a week, but I notice that my muscles are very tired by the 5th day and I'm weaker, but my body transformed in a month and a half. Nothing gives you a great booty like Pilates classes at Fit Buddha. They give us a full body workout and you will be strong with a gorgeous beach body (man or woman). The staff have activities or events to engage the team. The owners are always open to suggestions. It's a very non-hoity-toity type of environment. There is not much time between classes so getting to know others is not super easy, but you won't feel non-existent by any means. You will be challenged, but not called out or humiliated, instead you will always be encouraged. It is a warm place that welcomes you and on your grumpy days you will feel a sense of accomplishment. I like Pilates because it takes my mind off other things and I focus on getting into the next move. The movement is slow for each position and considered rehabilitory and low impact. Awesome workout on so many levels. Marcus, one of the owners, just made us fans for life. This was a highlight of our time in Ventura. First off, this place is awesome! I was a little skeptical about it at first, but after one mega former class I was hooked! I was getting bored of my regular gym/weight room routine and gave this a try. So if you think you're in good shape think again. It's kicks your butt but in a good way. The cool thing about fit Buddha though is that they offer a variety of different classes and the instructors are very helpful. I would suggest giving the RMA SYSTEMA class a try. It has helped me in my weight lifting and everyday stress. Don't be timid if you you are a male. This place is great to switch up your workouts or just to even get better at what ever sport or fitness activity you do. read more

I've waited over a year to write this (second) review. My first review was in October of 2015, when I really started to see changes in my body but I really started attending the studio on November 25th, 2014. I had heard about this "pilates on steroids" for quite some time but was not sure how to segue from my then-current fitness addition, Bikram, to something that seemed so different. 40 minute classes and pouring sweat, for real? It wasn't until the first review written that I was really adapting mentally, emotionally and physically to the practice -- and that's what it is -- it's a practice -- a practice that shapes your life, your mind and of course, that sweet temple of a body that you will have for the rest of your life. The machine is challenging, the instructors are challenging but most of all, you will be your biggest challenge. And when you say, "Eh, I can't go --" just book the appointment, hold yourself accountable and commit. Year to date, I have lost over 35 pounds, going from 165+ and now down to 127. I thank Marcus and Eva for creating such a warm, comfortable and all over, incredible environment for everyone to feel safe, valued and willing to change their lives. Now, this may not be for everyone, but what do you have to lose by spending 40 minutes on a psycho machine that will likely spark something inside you that says, "you need to go back and try again." Nothing beats the 40-minute megaformer workout - it works your entire body and leaves you shaking and sweating throughout the whole class. It's much more fun than weight training/doing cardio at the gym and time literally flies when you're in the zone. The trainers are all very energetic, kind and dedicated to their clients - they focus a lot on maintaining proper form and always motivate you to push harder through every exercise. They each have their own unique style and classes are constantly changing to keep you challenged. There's a great intro class for newbies and even in the regular classes there's always a mix of newcomers and regulars so you never feel out of place. I finally tried it out here, today! It's amazing!!! I have some hip issues and I have been wanting to strengthen my core, soba few friends told me this is the place for me! I am an active person and I consider myself to be fairly fit, but this place takes it to a WHOLE new level!!! Best 40 minutes of my day! I come here during my lunch break from work a couple of times a week. The classes are short enough that I can get in a great workout and get back to work without missing too much time. You might think that 40 minutes isn't enough to do anything, but it literally will kick your #$%. Because of health issues, I haven't been able to take traditional cardio based classes. But, since I am able to get my heart rate up to a slower steady level, I have finally been able to put some muscle tone on and lose a few inches and pounds in the process. I moved to Oxnard from Santa Barbara recently. I took Bar Method for many years in Santa Barbara and felt in pretty good shape. When I tried Fit Budha class, I realized that I was wrong. Fit budha work out is more intense and challenged my body. The classes are small which slows instructors to help with body alignment and correct the form. I am happy to find Fit Budha in Ventura. Because the classes are small, I will have to sign up in advance. I figured that I can't just show up like I used to in Bar Method most of the time. read more

LOVE Fit Buddha. They offer such a variety of classes which include: megaformer, barre, spin, RMA Systema, and yoga. They offer classes throughout the day (starting early morning and ending late night) and even on the weekends. The instructors all are awesome and really help you out and want to see you improve and help motivate you. Marcus and Eva are both so generous and kind. Fit Buddha offers great class package deals, I have now signed up for my third. I started doing Fit Buddha over a month ago with a friend that recommended the MegaFormer workout. I did the starter class for $5 figuring it would be another workout method I tried out only to never go again. I ended up immediately buying the 5 classes for $49 deal and have since purchased a second package. The MegaFormer workout is awesome. I often don't have the stability to keep up with cardio workouts but with Megaformer it focuses a lot on core strength and it is easier for me to keep up while getting a good workout. I highly recommend Fit Buddha Ventura and the MegaFormer workout to all interested. read more

Ava and Kim are fabulous instructors, they take the time to ensure that all members in the class are using proper form and on the right tension. They provide you with alternative moves and are enthusiastic about what they teach. The Megaformer is a whole new level to working out as you really rely on your own inner strength and stability. I love Fit Buddha because the Lagree method WORKS and the trainers are fabulous. I've been a member of this studio for 4 years and have come to know nearly all the trainers. My favorite is Eva, co-owner of the studio with her husband Marcus. Eva is the best!! I have such a girl-crush on her. Her classes are difficult but you come to love how excruciatingly slow she makes you move when you go home, take your clothes off and admire the results. If you want high energy go with Marcus. He's super fun and all his classes come with a side of glam rock. Stephanie C. is killer! She's so strong and has a lot of experience which shows in her thoughtfully choreographed classes. Kim is the studio mascot and a member turned trainer. She gets better all the time and I love how she always focuses on arms. She's very supportive as well. I also really enjoy Stephanie H., though I rarely get to take her classes due to my schedule. She's also very experienced and I always learn to check my form when I'm with her.
