the beach itself is nice. the water was a very enjoyable temperature and not too crowded. be aware…read moreif you don't live in marlborough it does cost $20 to get in. if id known this ahead of time we might have gone somewhere else but i figured we'd try it out. bathrooms were clean with a shower outside to rinse off with so that was nice. however, when we arrived there were 2 roped off areas. one was crowded and one only had one person swimming in it. we set up stuff near the less crowded one and went in. the lifeguard then yelled at us not to swim in that area even though we are still unsure why. the entire time we were there the lifeguards were insufferable. they yelled about the smallest things like parents carrying their kids on their shoulders. for $20 i expected a bit more so we probably won't be back considering there are just so many other beaches to go to in the area that are free.

There is one amazing house there with the best rope swing I've ever seen. The rest of the houses are kinda lame because they don't have such a good rope swing. But if you like houses without rope swings then there are plenty here for you. I once saw a fish and it looked happy to live here. If it gets cold enough the lake becomes solid. I don't know where the fish go, but I think they swim South for the winter. You should definitely check out Lake Boon if you like a house with a rope swing and a fish.

Nevertheless, it is a beautiful, easy hike in the fall! In order to get to the trail if you're going south on Lyman, you'll turn off on Hospital Road and go towards the lake. There is a paved parking lot. Note that there are no bathrooms or water fountains at the trail. There may be some at the beach area but we didn't make it there because the trail ended and we turned around. As a Floridian, I really enjoyed the lakeside hike to see some gorgeous fall colors!

The water blocked off for swimming is not that deep. I think the deepest is probably 5 feet. They do have lifeguards on duty and a little snack shack. Water is clean for a lake and typically warm. There is a playground and a couple picnic tables. Not much shade. Kids are allowed to wear lifejackets, but that is all I recall seeing for flotation devices. They do have kayaks and I think paddle boots you can rent. Opens at 10 AM.

This…read moreis a beautiful spot, with hundreds of steps to conquer if you want to go to the bottom of the dam and back up. There is also a picturesque fountain with a pool at the bottom of the dam, a great spot to picnic as there are shade trees around the fountain. There are many trails around the reservoir, boasting great views of the pristine waterfront. You can't walk on top of the dam however, as it's been closed off for security reasons. There are many aprking spots around the reservoir, and near the busy dam, you can park on the side of the road. Be careful crossing, it's busy there. We've been here multiple times, and would be happy to return.

Yes, it's purportedly the largest natural lake in southern New England, but that's not saying much!…read moreMeasuring in at a modest 2.3 square miles, it pales in comparison to its large lake neighbors to the north like Moosehead Lake (117 sq. miles) Lake Winnipesaukee (72 sq. miles), or the gigantic Lake Champlain (490 sq. miles). That said, Lake Webster is well maintained, and offers sufficient area for skiing, tubing, sailing, or swimming. On a hot day, it's a great spot to cool off with a dip, and it has three restaurants, all with accessible docks on the lake. Samuel Slater's Restaurant is the best restaurant on the lake and offers great views from their deck. It's located on a small beach at Indian Ranch. Indian Ranch is an RV park and entertainment venue and owns a small paddlewheel boat called the Indian Princess that offers sunset cruises during the summer months. There is a nice beach on the lake, at least two boat launches, three marinas, kayak rentals and unfortunately only one recently closed gas station. Considering the modest size, it may surprise fellow Yelpers that the lake boasts one of the longest names in the world, Lake Chargoggagoggmanchauggagoggchaubunagungamaugg. Some say the actual name isn't the 45-letter behemoth above, that it's really Lake Chaubunagungamaug. Regardless, since I can now pronounce the long version, I'm sticking with that one!

Crow Island Aviation. I have not been lucky enough to see any planes, but CIA is also the home to Revolution Trapeze, and it's pretty awesome to be able to watch the trapeze practice. There are plenty of walking trails. A canoe/kayak launch. And Ronda of amazing wildlife

A great little place for hikes&leisurely walks. Lake Potanipo is an understated place. Its waters eventually lead to the Gulf of Maine. Not bad for a little quiet country lake.
