At first the service was very responsive, but after receiving the wood I found I was duped. He promised me 16-20" pieces of wood. Not only did he not give me this, he stacked the wood to hide the small pieces, pushing them all to the front causing the rack to tip over the next day and we had to repile them ourselves. I gave him ample time to correct but here we go. He sounded innocent on the phone but Never get fooled. Never buy from Tristate, never! Even Ella(Elya) will deliver it free. I am the latest victim and same those poor folks that gave him bad reviews & those language that they wrote are absolutely true. On top of that.1. we agreed on the time of delivery and I specifically told to come on time as I have errands. but I believed he deliberately came late so I can not see the quality of the firewoods 2. We agreed on the price but overpriced on the bill & blamed his wife of the inflated bill. 3. He will volunteer to stack/ pile to appear that he delivered the standard 16" but to hide those chopped pieces & shorted the quantity. A waste of time & money, frustrations; inhaling smoke & moldy rotten smell & which is unhealthy in your house. Why? Since the wood is wet, 1. It will take time and a lot of kindling wood to start a fire 2. hard to maintain the fire 3. Kept feeding the stove, 4. It smoke a lot 5. Heat is wasted to burn the moisture instead to warm the house 5. costly maintenance due to Creosote build-up. I repeat never transact business with Elya! Been using Tristate Firewood year round for many years now. Ilya is fantastic and delivers in a timely manner. The negative reviews calling him a gangster is obviously lies. He's fantastic and stacks the wood for me. They typically have different types of fire wood (oak, cherry, etc)that are differently prices of course, but can meet anyone's needs. I love their service because they can cater to my home and business needs throughout the year. read more

I had the same as the experience as the person that wrote the other review S.S. As first time firewood buyer we found this guy on yelp and most of the reviews where good just one so we figured maybe it was a one time thing but no it turned out that we had the same exact experience. They short you on the wood. We ordered 1/2 cord of wood, and they delivered maybe a little more than 1/4 cord. We didn't realize it until we stacked it up on a rack and noticed that it doesn't even fill a rack that holds less than 1/2 cord of wood, when called him and told him that this does not look like its a 1/2 of a cord he claim it was and as a courtesy he would bring some more so he just came and dumped some branches and debri in our drive way and left still claiming he brought us the right amount in the beginning. So us also we gave a chance to correct and he didn't so i reported him to the Better Business Bureau. We won't be ordering anymore wood from him but just like the other person said if you do make sure to measure what they give on the spot. read more

This guy is a gangster. A full cord of wood is 2 full racks. that's it 2 racks. No matter which way you look at it. Then this guy has got the nerve to tell you the reasons why it's not. What he delivered didn't even look like a rack and a half. He delivered less than a rack and a half. Let me say that again less than a rack and a half. He then said that the wood was longer than normal which was complete nonsense. then he says I stole some and brought it into my house. Heres one I never heard but he tried it, "I delivered 450 pieces, which is a cord" and maybe it could be it wasn't cut like a match stick. Absolute gangster. read more

I hesitated to write a bad review but I gave him an opportunity to correct it and he hasn't, so here goes my two sents on Yelp. They short you on the wood. I ordered 1/2 cord of wood, and they delivered maybe a little more than 1/4 cord. I didn't realize it untill I stacked it up on a rack and noticed that it doesn't even fill a rack that holds less than 1/2 cord of wood. I asked him to deliver the missing pieces and he said he gave me the correct amount claiming that he had it stacked on a pallet 4x4x4 and that's what he gave me. Totally a lie. He has loose pieces of firewood in his cargovan, not stacked up on anything. He and his buddy throws the logs out of the cargovan until they feel like they gave enough. He also said my measurement is wrong because it depends on the length of the wood. Well, most of his firewood is shorter than 2 feet. If what he claims is true, all of the pieces he gave me should've been 4 feet long. I know what a 1/2 cord wood looks like on my firewod rack. I won't be ordering anymore wood from him but if you do, I'd say make sure to measure what they give on the spot. read more

Highly recommend this company! We called, they came as soon as they could to look at our wood, and Ilya came the following day with two workers, chopped all of our wood (which is about 3 years worth of firewood!) and finished in 3.5 hours! They are efficient, stacked the wood very nicely, and left everything clean. Will use them again! Great service, very nice people. read more

The other reviews are correct to the extent that they showed up promptly and stacked the fire wood. The "cord" of wire wood I ordered was delivered and stacked promptly, and looked like a cord. However, when I looked more closely after they had departed and I had paid them in cash, it turned out that the stacking was done in such a way that there was lots of empty space in the stack, so there was much less than a cord of wood in it. Also, although I was assured that the max length of the pieces would be about 22 inches, there was a substantial portion that was a good deal longer and would not fit in my wood burning stove. Needless to say, mu purchase from them was a once in a lifetime experience. read more
