Traveling from Hawaii, stopping in New York for a few days, and continuing on to Pennsylvania(PA) to visit family. We brought cooked/frozen Samoan food for our PA family (IYKYK), and I was worried because our NY hotel did not have a restaurant/freezer space for us to use. Checked Yelp and Armato Ice & Firewood Co. popped up. I messages the number at 8pm, and Tony responded within 15min. I explained the situation, and he apologized because he said my order was too small for a delivery (I only needed 5lbs), so I would have to pick up dry ice from their shop on E 88th Street. Cool, no problem. Next morning, 8:30 am, i went to business address to pick up 5lbs, and called Tony but he was stuck in rush hour traffic for another hour. He graciously offered to drop off dry ice to my hotel before noon, during their normal deliveries. Even though it was a small order, he understood my situation and cared enough to help me keep my food frozen for the next few days, so my PA family can enjoy authentic Samoan food. Armato Ice & Firewood is so necessary during the heat of Summer and the dead of Winter. I remember times when we had issues keeping food and drinks cold and there was a run on ice. Places like Rite Aid in my building started stocking up on ice. This company is on notice 24 hours and will deliver it to your home or business. This morning the very friendly employees were loading the freezer in my neighborhood. These are well stocked for the delivery men to pick up the ice for delivery when you need ice. These guys show up with as much wood as you want and even carry it up for a small fee per bundle. The wood burns great, not too smokey, well packed, a good deal. Best of all, they're punctual, professional, and a pleasure to work with. I've thrown countless events where frozen water was in high demand, so Armato has been a lifesaver. Calling them is a breeze and they're also extremely responsive via email. They won't try to sell you more ice than you need, they are realistic with how much ice is necessary for each event. I have had to haul my own stashes of ice and can be a giant pain. I've worked with other ice delivery vendors and none compare to Armato in terms of ease of ordering and delivery. And out of all the events I've thrown and all the ice I've had delivered, Armato is by far the best at getting me all the frozen water I need, when and where I need it. Service is outstanding; they are quick, flexible and incredibly responsive. I was shipping a pie of Prince St. Pizza to San Francisco and needed dry ice. I had been planning on walking in and picking up, but when I called (yes, you do need to pick up your phone and call - human contact is inevitable), they so happened to be in the neighborhood and so happened to have a box + cooler ($15) and 10 lbs of dry ice ($20) in their truck ($35 total). Coordination was simple; we swapped contact information, they called when they arrived, they dropped off the box and dry ice in front of my apartment building and that was it! Listen, I am picky about my ice. I get kind of crazy about it. I know, it's weird. But fortunately, Armato is too. And that's a good thing. I throw a Derby Party every year, and crushed ice is an imperative. It is so crucial to party success (particularly when you go through 15 bottles of bourbon). For a few years, I tried crushing my ice in a blender, but that is just plain stupid (and messy, and loud, and distracting). Thankfully I have found Armato Ice. I wouldn't call it life changing. Actually, you know what, I am going to call it life changing. So I've not yet purchased the dry ice that I need, but I'm sure it'll be seamless once I call up to pick up. However, I felt impelled to write a review on the excellent customer service I received. I called 6 different places prior, and everyone was super rude, sighing to have to answer my question and some put me on hold for more than 15 minutes after said sighing. I needed to ask a few questions on how to transport my breastmilk for a 24 hour drive and what products I needed to purchase. Tony called me back promptly, really eased my concerns and his expertise in having dealt with dry ice and frozen breastmilk was apparent. He told me exactly what I needed, how to save money on which packaging, and how much ice I'll need. I dealt with Aramto's 3 times now for large events which requires large amounts of ice and all I can say is that they are perfect. They provide great customer service, great rates, and reliable delivery. They accommodated the 2 deliveries I needed a day and they were always on time despite some of the delivery times being during rush hour and I am out of the way. Pre ordered some dry ice for Halloween this year. Initially I emailed them with questions and they quickly responded. Then on the phone they were even more helpful. Hurricane Sandy came and knocked out the power, but they still delivered my ice on time. Instead of using the dry ice for the party it ended up saving our freezer. Bought some regular ice from them too. The delivery guys were great, very courteous. I ended up recommending Armato Ice to the owners of some some local bars who needed immediate ice delivery. My company had a TERRIBLE experience with Armato Ice Co. We were in need of dry ice and I asked my colleague to enquire about availability and cost. We were told that the dry ice was available for $300 which having purchased dry ice regularly seemed very very high, as it turned out it was twice as much as what we ultimately paid for it previously. Adding insult to injury when confronting the owner he did his best to sliver out of the attempted price gouge by making up some sort of fictitious story.
