I completed two years at triton, I am one credit short of graduating. 1/4 the teachers care, the rest only care about students who get good grades. The online classes can be cancelled after the start date, resulting in (me) graduating late And if you reach out like they tell you to it won't do anything. I did, I reached out to Sheldon turner head of the science department but he does not care enough to respond. I enjoyed my time at triton but the second something goes wrong they won't fix it, they will ignore you. read more

Triton College loves to flash their slogan: "There's a place for you." But for students like me, the truth is ugly -- there's no place here unless you're willing to be chewed up by their broken system and blamed for problems they created. I came to Triton determined to break cycles. I would've been the first person in my family to earn a degree. I worked my way down to just four classes away from finishing. Four classes from changing everything. But instead of support, Triton gave me roadblocks, mixed-up advising, and endless financial strain. I'm a full-time single mom. I work, I take care of my child, and I go without to make this education happen. I already live with food insecurity, already wonder how I'm going to pay bills and still make sure my kid eats. Every dollar and every hour matters. And still, Triton acts like none of that matters. Their advising system is a complete failure. You can ask three different staff members the same question and get three different answers. When you follow their guidance and it turns out to be wrong, the blame falls on you. Their mistakes become your bill -- extra classes, extra books, extra tuition. Time and money I couldn't afford to lose, gone, because they can't give consistent answers. They love to brag about resources and "access." But in reality, access here means limited hours, endless red tape, and confusing processes that make you feel trapped. When you ask for help, you get brushed off. Push harder, and you're treated like you're the problem. Meanwhile, the college has every system in place to protect themselves but none to protect the students. It's like Triton profits off students' confusion and desperation. They trap you into paying for classes you shouldn't need, charge you for their own mistakes, and leave you holding the blame. I've already skipped meals to pay for gas to get to class. I've already sacrificed sleep and time with my child to study. And still, Triton found a way to take more. On top of tuition and fees, I had to purchase the tools necessary for my program -- tools that should've been provided by a place of instruction. I spent money I didn't have just to participate in my own classes. Only after I submitted a formal complaint did Triton finally supply tools for students to use on site. That's not support -- that's neglect. And it proves that unless students speak up and fight, Triton won't take action. The stress this school has caused me isn't just about education -- it's about survival. I was so close to finishing, so close to being the first degree earner in my family, and Triton made it feel impossible. That's something I'll never forgive: they don't just block progress, they crush hope. And yet, I need to be clear -- not everyone at Triton is part of the problem. The only reason I haven't given up completely is because of Lena Musa and Kenneth Davis. They are the only two people in my program who treated me like my education and my life mattered. They gave real answers, real guidance, and real respect. Without them, Triton would've broken me completely. Triton College needs to stop selling slogans and start owning up to their failures. Students deserve support, not punishment. We deserve guidance, not confusion. We deserve a system that helps us succeed instead of one that bleeds us dry. Until that happens, Triton is not a place for you -- it's a place that will leave you broke, blamed, and broken. read more

This college sucks!it really paying over a grand to have a teacher read to me and only two people in our class, like what? I when i first signed up the staff in countiuned ed didn't even give me the info I needed for class, so that was a problem. Then I go to continued Ed's admin and was told to wait it out and let me talk to the teacher. Fast forward 4 weeks and we're like nothing changed... now trying to get a refund and they are saying we can't cuz it's a finished course. Well nothing has changed and here we are fighting with a college that has little to no solutions. I do not recommend this college for anyone personally, spend the money and go to a real college. This school is extremely unorganized and staff is beyond unprofessional. If you are on an IEP or received any accommodations in high school please be aware that triton does not help whatsoever. The professors are way to opinionated and will not help students and are all only here to argue or debate. The campus itself is very beautiful but it's a shame that the professors or staff are very unprofessional. Also to mention how extremely racist and ignorant the students and staff are towards caucasians/white students. As a person of color it is extremely sad to witness this. read more

Everytime I call for help in any department, everyone is nice and helpful. I finally went in for the first time as I needed to provide proof of address change and the front desk was beyond kind and helpful as well. I can't wait to start this fall again but actually come in and experience the campus. It seems like a lovely school. Worst school in the Chicagoland area for Nursing. They will admit you no issue there, but once you're in the program it all goes downhill. Always looking to humiliate students, fail students with useless tests after students work to teach themselves, lectures and labs aren't good- you won't learn any skills at all, rude and hostile teachers, administration gossip about students, failing students, absurd deadlines. They accuse people of cheating, suspend and dismiss people alot. Don't go here if you want to learn how to be a good RN nurse with skills. Should not be accredited for various reasons from poor quality of education to unprofessional faculty and staff. It's a garbage Nursing school that teaches you nothing valuable. Labs are a joke and nobody teaches anything substantial. Nurses graduate embarrassed from where they came from, without a shred of nursing knowledge that is applicable to the job which is the worst part of all. Avoid at all costs. read more

Many programs were, "gutted." Gone from years ago are the variety of foreign languages to choose from. Currently you can pick Spanish or Chinese in the foreign language dept. No Polish despite Chicago having many Polish Families. Yes, Spanish and Chinese are useful. However, there is no variety like there used to be. Chinese has maybe 2 beginning level courses to choose from on the registration schedule. Legal secretary program is gone. Therapeutic Recreation program is gone. Horticulture Department has slimmed down. No sign language classes. The school is a far, far cry of what it once was back in the 90's. Some may say, " it is a lack of money." Must not be. The school did remodel their interiors very recently. A lot of the teachers have experience in their field. However, they have no teaching certificate. Technically, it may not be needed to teach community college. However, it can make for a more professional teacher. One teacher joked around in a health class about a student being late. She did not lead her class by example. After introductions were made in another class, a teacher told the entire class that, "you can tell she(the student who gave her introduction) still feels bad about having a developmentally disabled child." It was a childcare class and my friend was explaining what led her to take the class. She wanted to become a teacher's aide. Less than professional behavior from that teacher. My friend was very embarrassed. She did nothing to bring that on. My friend did not cry or carry on for that judgement or assessment to be made. Long, long wait times for the counselor and advising. Especially at enrollment time. There used to be extra staff during enrollment time to help the students and lessen wait time. I have seen unprofessional, snippy attitudes from a couple of people working the desk while I was in line for registration. There used to be a program for students called, "peer counseling." This was back in the early 90's. It was a training program giving students training on how to deal effectively and kindly when working the desk at Triton. The program is gone. I think the most unorganized huge mistake my other friend witnessed was being mailed her associates degree diploma BY MISTAKE. She still had 5.0 credits left. The school staff mailed more than one student their associates degree by mistake she was told by one of the counselors. The advisor during enrollment mentioned my friend should hand the diploma that Triton staff mailed by mistake back. She kept it as a joke. There are better community colleges out there. if you take your courses online at another community college, you might pay an in district fee. That is even if you are out of district. My personal opinion and advice is try to go elsewhere. read more

Well, I just have two comments really. The guy who works in the cashier's office, I believe his name begins with an "M". Well I noticed the other day when I went in to register for a summer class that he was on the phone with two customers (a mom and a daughter) and both were absolutely rude, yelling and screaming at him because they wanted to argue their balance. Both accused him of raising his voice, even though he did not. Not once. I just wanted to say that he handled them very well and despite the fact that he was pretty irritated by then after he got off the phone, he was still very accommodating and courteous to me. Lastly, whoever baked those peanut butter chocolate chip cookies on April 3, did a magnificent job. Man were they good! I'm usually very picky but those were outstanding. read more

This school was quick and easy for me. I had a great two years here. The counselors were no help, but I luckily found my way through the system. I learned how to plan my entire schedule meeting all the requirements, and even helped my sister for her first year. This skill that I learned also helped me transfer over to my next school. If you are nice to the employees, they will be nice to you. Most of the instructors are straightforward on what they expect, all you have to do is follow the rules. If you ever have any issues about information or registering, the call center will direct you in the right direction. A tip is take advantage of the schools that offer four year degrees through Triton's campus, like Governors State, Benedictine, and Dominican. If anyone needs help registering wise, or academic planning, let me know. I am so happy with my outcome and where I'm at now from being at this school. read more

I don't recommend this college if you are thinking to take home inspector course they don't help you at all, 1. They have all the old material as the old questions and instructions, instructor is racist if you don't speak English like he thinks you should then you will not pass, you can do all the 60 hours required by the state and the 5 home inspections but if you don't pass the practice test then you are not having your transcripts to go with the state even if you missing 2 3 points they will not do anything, you just have to pay and take the course again, which they don't tell you at the beginning and it doesn't happen with other certified schools.. so I really recommend to look for a different training school for home inspector license. read more

This review is NOT about classes. This review is based on the main building experience to prepare people when they attend campus for classes. Never have I experienced such ignorance. I am not one to write a review just to complain but I literally left the school in shock and feeling disrespected. I went with my mom to register for her class b/c she was having problems with registering for the summer & needed paperwork filled out for my sister's financial aid at her college. 3 out 4 people that we came in to contact with at the front desk were extremely rude. Not only do they speak down to people but apparently it is appropriate to hold full conversations with their coworkers as they "help" students. When we asked to confirm a room we had to go to the response we received was a raised, firm tone speaking to us like we were slow. (Sorry I interrupted your conversation with the security guard who was obviously securing the front desk!) Best part was visiting the Admissions & Records Office aka land of cubicals. We walked in and greet the woman at the desk, hand this form over & explain that my mom needs filled out for my sister's financial aid. She tells us financial aid needed to fill it out. My mom explains it is not for her aid but for her daughter at another school. The lady points to paper and says, "I'm just reading what it says." My mom said, "Yes but it also says OR Registrar....that is what you are." Now I explain to my mom that maybe she hasn't filled out a paper like that before so she doesn't know. Not a big deal except that she spoke to us like we were slow. Now the next kid behind us steps up (we are on the side filling out a request) and he says, "This may be a stupid question but I want to make sure I am in the right place...is this where I come to ask about sending my hs records?" She literally stares at him for 5 seconds and responds, "That's what the sign says doesn't it?" I work at a university and took summer classes at Triton. Never would I treat a student that way!!! Really?! That is how you respond to someone that is asking for help! read more

I returned to school in my 50s taking classes at Triton in 2008 and discovered that EIU was offering four-year degrees on the Triton campus. Expensive, but a BA on weekends? Yes. So, you can take your academics at Triton, and get credit for them at EIU... at Triton. EIU will cost yo about ten times the cost of Triton's classes: got that? The campus is gorgeous. visit the planetarium and as long as the old sky show is still running, do it. It will end soon as technology has changed that. Small botanic garden is rarely visited, and a nice retreat. Fall events include pumpkin farm, corn stalk maze and activities for kids. The indoor pool is terrific. We've seen a few plays here down very well for very little cost. The fine dining restaurant is a hidden gem: Eat in a white tablecloth setting overlooking the quad for very little. The food court is very good, but limited hours outside of student hours. Ditto for an excellent bakery, but hard to find open. Good parking. Security is lackluster; carry something. Triton can get you through your academics on the dime. Save a bundle here, and move forward. So the school isn't your top pick? Guess what, it costs much less and if you work hard, you can hit those honors (I did) and waltz through it all easily. When you look at classes, TALK to instructors. Get a feel for what's offered. Look at the school's strongest courses and grab them; their COMM department was very good, and since I'd had much more real world experience in one class than most, I helped other students. Situated near Costco and easy to reach, Triton's a bargain to the savvy, and boring to the dumbbell's who waste their mommy's money going to school when they really need a remedial course in maturity. Triton has kickstarted many careers and changed many lives for the better. I'm one of them. read more

This school is kind of a joke. I took a web design class here - it was ok but there were no prerequisites, and there really should have been. The teacher wasted a lot of time teaching people things they should have known. One evening I walked in past a group of students discussing which county lockup was the worst. Lovely. The second class here I had to drop because the "instructor" didn't know what the hell she was doing. The first day she wasted our time playing "getting to know you bingo" and the second day she must have said "I don't know how to do this, I'm not at that point in the book yet" 20 times. Uh, it was the first lesson. And I'm paying for this this? I think not. I took 2 phone calls and 5 different people to get my money refunded. read more

I started class here the semester following my graduation from high school. It is cheap and I did save close to $4,000 by starting here as opposed to College of Dupage, Oakton, or Wright College. Some instructors are great, while others are decent. I loved being able to take my classes when I wanted to and being able to have a short break between school and work everyday. Many of the pros are the price, class size, and teachers. The campus is also very easy to navigate and find where you need to be. The campus police also offer a very safe feeling. The campus police drive around throughout the hours of the school day as well as night. They offer a free "motorist assistance" car as well that has helped me out when my keys were locked in my car. I do have a few cons though, while eating in the cafeteria one day a lot of other students were loud, blaring music, talking and screaming. Didn't bother me at all. I did notice that there were about 3-4 campus police standing around, walking up and down the aisles. Made it sort of feel like a prison to me. The food is decent but for a short drive you can have chipotle, mcdonalds, taco bell or ruby tuesday. The other con I have is my counselor did not know jack **** about any of the nursing programs. Luckily, I did a lot of my research prior to signing up for classes just so I knew what track to be on to transfer. Pros: location, size, price and teachers Cons: cafeteria, food, and some people just don't know what they are doing. read more

Found out about a 2 year old debt I didn't know I had today, which is preventing me from transferring. I got an A on a paper about using cell phones while driving. I referenced the A-Team and used the phrase, "Punishment should be swift, like an eagle snatching a trout from a babbling brook." Used the paper in my speech class the following semester, got another A. Some of the teachers are very good. Some are quite awful. The computer lab, where tests for online courses are taken, lost my history final. The science department, in whose office I turned in the labs for my online chem class, lost my labs. In both cases, the teachers have been very understanding. This is the kind of school where if you just do the basic minimum - read the syllabus, turn shit in on time - it hardly matters how good your work is, you'll likely get an A. If you know the difference between "there", "their" and "they're" and are feeling down, go take a class here. You will feel like the biggest fucking genius the world has ever seen. read more

Front desk is super rude and ghetto except the guy that works there. Its kind of funny to me how condescendingly they answer peoples questions since I work around people like that all day. But I sat there waiting to see a counselor 2 hours and got to hear how they talked down to students and anyone who dares ask a simple question. Its sad since this is the first impression most people get. Financial Aid was hard to get approved and counselors both told me diff things. I am not attending after all since I am moving far south. I might of been wrong but physically smacking someone for getting something is not professional at all. Theres a lot of favoritism and un-fit teachers here as well. The faculty and staff at this school is a joke. I only went here for school because of the shining reviews of other family members that went here 20+ years ago. No one is willing to give you a straight answer and they give you the run-around. Most of the staff *not professors* have a nasty attitude. The professors are either on a power trip or totally new at the game there and try too hard...and the other professors don't even care about their job or the students and its easy to see that. The teachers and classes itself are good, However... KEEP ALL OF YOUR RECORDS. They are very unorganized and lose everything. Also see 1 counselor throughout your whole experience. I did not do this and was told I take to take so and so classes for my degree, little did I know they didn't count. I now have all these classes that don't count AND I'm out of district which means they're making a lot of money off of me. Basically, be your own counselor and learn how to find what classes you need yourself because you'll probably have a better idea than they actually do. read more

Absolutely horrible administrative assistance and enrollment. Everyone is rude, confrontational and expects you to just take it. The only reason why I go here is for their schedule. The two professors I picked are absolutely wonderful but the headache during enrollment is like nothing else. I have a degree already from years ago and I'm just shocked at the way this place is run. There is no recourse either. If you're a returning student and have hours to sit around waiting to talk to someone who will then make disparaging remarks about your military service and treat you rudely, this is your place. Started attending Triton College as of Spring 2017. Thus, far my experience has been pretty good. The instructors at this institute are friendly and always willing to help you when you don't understand the material. Classroom sizes are on average of 20ish students. However, SOME of the people at the Register center are pretty rude and no help at all. When, it comes to the counselors you just have to watch out on who you get. Some don't even know what their doing. However, I would recommend Leslie she's great! Always willing to answer all questions with the right answers, gives you the information that you actually need, and very nice. read more

Triton is great for transferring cheaper credits to a university.

I waited 2 hours to talk to a counselor only to get the wrong information. The last math class I had taken was Mat 055 and I needed to take Mat 100 to work towards my associates in science. I asked if there was a middle math class because it seemed like a big jump to go from 055 to 100 but the counselor said it was fine. I couldn't register for a Mat 100 class so I called and another competent employee (yes there are some there) told me I had to take mat 080 or take assessment test to test out of mat 080. Triton is going downhill and it isn't long before it's on the same level as Truman, Malcolm X, Washington or Wright. read more

My mother and I take Continuing Education classes and have enjoyed every one. My neighbor's daughter graduated from the Dialysis program and got a job right away. The parking lots are torn up to be repaved (about time) so plan extra time to find good parking. Cafeteria is often full of loud music and loud students, so we don't go there, but there is a small confession stand in our building that does the trick. read more

Classes were good. Most teachers were good. Its community college so as good as you can expect. The administrative staff was a joke. You could not contact anyone. Nobody would call you back. The woman I was working with actually lied to me and put me off by telling me she was working on my situation in order to keep my money. I have documation on the matter and I can not get anyone at a higher level to even look at it. A nightmare to deal with. She was also very rude about her mistake which cost me about $400. If you can go anywhere else go. If you are stuck you are stuck but be prepared to be ripped off no matter what proof you have. read more

Horrible horrible experience with the petitions I had to do in order to try and get my credits from my previous college to transfer over for the surgical tech program. I had met with a counselor before starting the program to double check that they would accept them just in case I had to take them over again in order to graduate which would have been fine but thankfully my counselor told me they would be transferable since they were higher credits than the program asked for. This part I did not have a problem with, what I had a problem with was the administration office and how they are so so sooo unorganized, do NOT have a clue about what their doing and are the rudest people I've come into contact with there. They're liars and do not care to even look at your requests when you put in your petitions to transfer your credits. I had to put in 3 petitions with the administration office because they kept trying to apply my classes for the surgical tech degree program that's happening next year when I am CURRENTLY in the certificate program. What don't you get ? I wrote it THREE TIMES FOR YOU. They kept trying to deny my petitions and I knew this was wrong. I ended up having to go to the dean, my teacher and three separate chair people of each department for each class to hand them a petition personally. This all could have been avoided if the administration office knew how to do their jobs instead of scamming you and lying to make you take extra classes you don't have to and take more of your money. They're disrespectful, ghetto and look at you like you have no idea what your talking about in reality they're lost. This experience wasted a lot of my time being I had to constantly go back and forth to the school to meet with counselors, which the wait can be up to 2 hrs, constantly trying to meet and speak to someone who might of had a clue in the administration office (no one ever did), and meet with 3 separate chair people, not to mention I live 25 miles from the school so it's not like I was around the corner or I wouldn't have minded.
