A parking garage is across the street, but other than that it's a challenge, For safety I would not park off campus. My son swam in his conference meet the UAA. He swims for Washington University. Typically Emory, Chicago & WashU are the top programs in the country. The teams are competing in swim and dive. The facility lacks adequate spectator space for very large meets such as this. The pool is a 50 meter plus diving. It's a great pool and swims fast! The staff at the event over four days was excellent. Ticketing was handled well and the lines organized. They even had a coat check. My deduction of 1 star is the spectator area. Not only small, but the design is poor. Only the two front rows can see well. 3.5 rounding down.

Located in the not so appealing suburb of Summit-Argo, this community high school should not be judged by its' cover nor its' surroundings. Many graduates have moved on to great opportunities. ACHS has its share of "alumni celebrities." If you live in Summit, Bedford Park, Bridgeview, Justice, Willow Springs, and un-incorporated Hickory Hills, you don't have another public high school option unless you're willing to home school or pay for private education.

The campus itself is beautiful, located in the heart of the Chicago, and an easy commute via CTA train with CTA State/ Lake being the closest train stop to the campus. Other than a few mental health, psychology, child development and social service classes I took mostly my prerequisites at this campus, such as english, reading, math, art, and speech. My program, Addictions Studies transferred to Kennedy King College in 2017, but since I took a majority of my classes at Harold Washington College, it ended up being my 'projected graduation college'. Thinking about it as I share this review, I am happy I took the classes pertaining to my major at Kennedy King College and my prerequisites at Harold Washington College because teaching styles and class sizes were different where Harold Washington College, the classes were a tad larger, and Kennedy King College, the classes were smaller and more intimate. I have had a mixture of good and not so good professors, but for the most part a majority have been good with teaching styles that vary. With that, if you have a good adviser, or know current students they can steer you away from choosing that not so good professor. I also recommend utilizing website 'Rate My Professor', while choosing your classes or once you have chosen them because it will prepare you for what to expect, but do not expect an easy ride. And I highly recommend utilizing tutoring if you need extra assistance other than from your professor. The Veteran Services Center at this campus is amazing and by far the best out of all City Colleges of Chicago. Well informative of scholarships, job fairs, veteran events, and also makes sure my paperwork is up to date prior to the start of the semester. I have never had any issues with my Post 911 GI Bill or IVG (Illinois Veterans Grant) being submitted in a timely manner. The center is located on the second floor and has an area where veterans can do their homework other than in the library or computer lab. As a military veteran, I always feel as though I can let loose being around fellow servicemen & servicewomen. As for administration, I have looked at some of the old reviews and yes! I agree with some, but I have had more positive experiences than bad. And I'am sure that it is no different on any other college campus, so prepare yourself beforehand. As like many other college campuses, you can easily identify the post-high school students by the way they act and because most hang out in groups. The campus used to have a cafeteria in the basement which is now a lounge area for students where video gamers and musicians unite. With the absence of the cafeteria, there are an ample amount of restaurants within the area for students to grab food or snacks prior to or in-between classes. A few of my favorites were Billy Goat Tavern & Grill, 7 Eleven, Chick-fil-A, Protein Bar, Subway and Jason's Deli. The campus was everything I wanted in a college campus and truly the setting standard I look for as I search for a transfer college. From its diverse student body to it being a military friendly college there are few colleges like it with an easy commute to-and-from. Thomas G

I often received emails that are tailored to me and not the entire student body. This is a fine level of service. On the academic end, the courses have been rigorous and the instructors have been very qualified and knowledgeable. They seem to be experts in their respective fields. Many schools have tenured professors who are out of touch with their own fields. The professors here seem to know their stuff. The "vertical" school as they term it is clean and modern. The parking lot is large so parking is not a hassle. There are nice areas for students to relax and food is available. Returning to the business aspect of higher education, I have a doctorate degree from another institution and that school was excellent. However, they were always very aggressive in collecting tuition and fees. Here the college works with the students and tends to avoid the threatening demand letters. Ultimately, the school has to get paid and you will not graduate without paying your balance. It's nice though that the school doesn't send out the goon squad because you haven't cut a check for a technology fee or overdue library book. I have about a year left here and I look forward to it. I would not hesitate to recommend Calumet College of Saint Joseph to anyway looking to further their education.

We came here as part of a new 'preview' play by Goodman Theatre, called 'Hummingbird'. We are not…read morealums or students, and we don't get to this area very much. This was the building with the Electronic Visualization Lab. The check in procedure was fine, and they walked us to the lab. The play involved virtual reality and questionnaires. It was an immersive and interesting experience (we were observers so we didn't wear the VR headgear). We were only in one building but it was a pretty nice one.

My daughter is graduating from college on Monday and she will be the 3rd generation in my family. My auntie-mom, me, and my daughter will take a picture with flags from our respective schools. The student center is 100% different but they have the same old lecture halls lol. There was also waaaay more cement (walkways, etc) when I was here. A lot of it has been torn down for green space. The university is constantly growing and I've watched it from afar as I've driven past over the years (I don't live far away, actually, and possibly drive past several times a week). Looks like they are building shiny new dorms. I'm happy to see their growth because that means they're doing it right. Thanks UIC for the great education. I'm not doing bad at all, if I do say so myself!

McAuley was our rival school (I'm an AOL grad) and was, back in the day, noted for being snobby, clique-ish, and "fast." (But one never says nice things about one's rival, does one?) My main concern was that McA was so BIG and I felt--from hearsay--that its athletics program was its focus and my budding actress/writer/academic nerd would be lost. I am happy to say that I was WRONG. My daughter immediately found a group of very nice kids who were also grade-conscious. The drama dept (and this is coming from a Longwood alum, now-closed Longwood having had an A-one drama dept. for generations) put on professional productions. My daughter was nurtured and challenged and she found mentors who truly cared about helping her meet her goals, including a close friendship with a retired Sister of Mercy who has been a great emotional support to her. She loved every minute of her high school experience. Best of all, for my husband and me, is that McAuley reinforced our Roman Catholic values. Our daughter was given service opportunities and got a lot out of her Kairos retreat. The theology department is traditional in the best sense of the word: they demonstrate to the students how to live as followers of Christ. My daughter thrived at McAuley. She got into the college of her choice, and is starting this next phase of her life with humor, self-confidence and optimism. I am sorry that one of the other reviewers had such a bad experience at McA. I know that since she attended, the administration has changed, so maybe a lot of graduates made the same complaints which the new staff/admin has tried to address. But at least the reviewer will have some insight when she helps her children pick a school. I hope her kids have the same experience my daughter had, albeit at a different school.
