Good gym. Both Sean & Taylor are good guys. Enjoyed training there. For Indiana, it's a really solid gym.

If you're on the Southside of Indy and particularly want authentic Muay Thai (on top of BJJ +…read moreBoxing), this is the place I would recommend. I was in town visiting family still in the Greenwood area and didn't think I'd be able to find any gym nearby with good bags to train on. I'm coming from the old Fairtex camps out of NorCal and was happy to see they had a Fairtex banana bag and similar heavy bags setup to hit on. They even had 3 separate speed bag stations (for varying heights) with the smaller, quicker speed bags which are great to use. Kru Ian was very hospitable. Took time to even chat it up a bit on top of giving pointer (and reminder!) on my "lazy" teep! If you want to get in shape and learn 1 of the best martial arts for self-defense and/or be a competitive fighter, Muay Thai with a supplemental foundation in Western Boxing is where it's at IMHO. You are NEVER too old. I'm 52 and even new members I meet think I'm in my 30s. Kru Ian is in his mid-40s and could easily pass for 30! Thank you Sir. I am very grateful for your time and use of your facility! -Edgar https://www.beatsbysiredgar.love/ Yelp's #1 Ranked DJ for Napa Yelp's #1 Ranked DJ for Calistoga Yelp's #1 Ranked DJ for St. Helena Yelp's #1 Ranked DJ for Yountville Yelp's #1 Ranked DJ for San Francisco Yelp's #1 Ranked DJ for Palo Alto Training out of KOA Fitness, Newark CA

I was repeatedly told "you're on contract" "If your child gets sick we will take a note from the doctor" so our children have to get Covid-19 before they will take it serious. I am not so sure that I want to send my son to a place that does not have his health and safety as a top priority. I asked what happens when we die then who's paying this contract? I also asked to speak with the owner of the company, at first told there was no way I could. Then was told to call back tomorrow. Adults are one thing OUR CHILDREN are different. We are to do our best to protect them and this should be a place that is on the same page! The schools close but this place knows more than the whole district? They should be respectful of the sensitivity of this situation and have a plan! They should want all the kids to return without getting sick not wait and see.

Exercise extreme caution before signing anything. Like any business that sells you a workout plan,…read moreyou are just as accountable for attending the classes as they are holding up their end of the deal. However, I experienced a breakdown on their end immediately. The private lesson that I was given as my first free lesson was very encouraging. I was excited about losing that extra 20 pounds and was preyed upon by these sales people. Immediately following this lesson I was put in a sales office with the owner. He told me FOR THE FIRST TIME that this lesson wasn't really free. Keep in mind that I was already done with the lesson at this point. The deal was that if I didn't sign up for their high pressure legally contracted lesson plan that I NOW HAD YO PAY OVER $100 FOR MY "FREE" LESSON! I was uncomfortable with their sales approach of essentially tricking people in to signing up or paying for that lesson... but they got me... I signed on the dotted line. In this meeting I was promised over $500 worth of equipment included as part of what I signed up for... I received a T-shirt... which they asked me to pay for at first and then was told that I needed to spend literally hundreds of more dollars on essential equipment that came from them. I was ignored and taken away from the group when I mentioned that "I signed up for the package where my equipment was included." The instructor tried to separate me and give me a pair of gloves to "shut me up." The reason I wrote this review is because of one thing. I was paying them over $150 per month to work out there. I told them that I did not feel I was given what was promised and the classes are NOTHING like your "free" private lesson on the first day. I had paid on time in full for 4 months and sent them an email. I asked about terminating my contract because I didn't feel they were holding up their end and requested to sit down with them. Immediately I was met with a legal letter telling me that I was lazy and wanted out because I'm of low moral character. The letter went on to say that they were threatening legal action. I was blown away, I asked for a meeting to discuss something and had never missed a payment and that's what I got. This business clearly wasn't for me and I should have never signed up for something I was this uncomfortable with, but I was motivated by trying to improve my body. All I will say is please don't sign anything until you have went to a few of the regular scheduled classes and have 100% of the information about what they will expect you to purchase from them once you are a member. Don't let your feelings about your body cloud your judgment about this business. I would recommend declining the "free" lesson and paying for a few GROUP sessions before ever signing anything. I was trapped by a contract to workout somewhere that I was uncomfortable with taught by people who I was very uncomfortable with.

On my first day, I was welcomed by one of the instructors, Jonathan. He could probably tell that I was intimidated (I am female) and overwhelmed, so he took me aside and taught me a few moves and told me about all the "regulars" who come in to class. I originally signed up only for the kickboxing, but discovered I also like Brazilian Ju Jitsu, and all the other classes they have to offer. LaMont Taylor is a great instructor, positive, and motivational. Oftentimes when I come to class it's like getting a private lesson. This place is not like 9-Round or Iron Fit. You will actually learn moves, technique, and have the opportunity to spar with classmates & instructors. Whereas, at the other gyms, you get an intense workout by only punching a bag and training like a boxer. Everyone has different preferences, but I enjoy learning more of the self-defense at Headbangers KBA. 13/10 I highly recommend!

All of them have been training longer than we have for sure. The instructors like to do some random 1:1 sessions during our workout which I liked. Having that short 1:1 session just to see what you can improve was a plus! I would definitely recommend this place for some great kickboxing class. Also they call their kickboxing, muy tai.

Like many others, I don't like to have a zero activity week, even while on vacation. I also find that if I have no BJJ days, my first day back (after just a week) is absolutely miserably painful. I looked for BJJ locations near my family's home, and found Endurance BJJ just 10 or so minutes away. When I looked them up online, I saw something that I haven't seen before...a section addressing visitors labeled "Welcome Visitors". I contacted Endurance BJJ and received an immediate response from Candace. She was able to get me setup and answered several questions. There was no mat fee, and they were fine with me wearing my Gi from my home academy. She told me that Coach Clingerman would be expecting me. I arrived at the date and time I found convenient for the hectic family schedule we had (I only had time for one training date). Coach Clingerman knew I was coming and remembered where I was from. He showed me around the gym and a few rules they all followed. Once changed, I headed to the mat and started to meet some of Coach Clingerman's students. To say that Coach Clingerman and his students were gracious hosts is an understatement. I had a great time and got to drill and roll with some amazing people. Coach Clingerman is a fantastic instructor, and his academy would be my choice if I lived in the area. I would highly recommend Endurance BJJ for your home academy if you're local. If you're traveling and need a spot to get in a good BJJ session, you should call and stop by. Thank you for the hospitality and great experience.

If you're looking for a fitness club that you can slip in and out without being known and without being pushed, then this probably isn't for you. But if you want to actually reach your fitness goals and get in shape, then I'd look into Thrive. The best part about Thrive is the community! There's a Crossfit class (obviously), but there's also a class called "ThriveLite" which is a 45-min class that utilizes less weights and more cardio. And for the bodybuilders, there's a weightlifting club. The structure of the gym is class-based. This means that when you come, you'll be working out with other people of various skill levels. This also means you'll have a coach who explains every movement and pushes you and the other Thrivers in the class to do more than you think you're capable of. It's like getting all the benefit of a personal trainer without the awkward "Just work out while I stand here and stare at you" from some personal trainers. You also get an online profile where you track your progress from each workout so you can measure your progress. It's worth it.
