While we did have a great time, my butt has never been more sore. Chalk that up to the seats on the brewbarge being actual hard bike seats. My suggestion would be to bring a small pillow. It might seem silly, but your tush will thank you later. In theory, a BYOB party barge is a great idea. However; they don't have a toilet so you best not drink too much. You also need a lot of steam (energy) to keep the barge moving so you shouldn't get wasted or your legs will get lazy. Our driver and host were super personable and let our bachelorette be the dj and play her tunes from her itunes. This said, the barge is a fantastic activity for birthday's, bachelor/bachelorette parties or team building events.

We had an awesome time doing the brew barge! I booked this for myself and 3 friends...a friend had to drop out and another friend came in her place and the whole team at BrewBarge was super awesome about working with me on logistics. We originally were booked for 3pm, and were asked if we'd consider moving to be with a larger group since we were the only ones booked for 3. We're very glad we did as this is definitely something to do as a part of a big group. Bring your music and bring your own beer (or wine or cider or whatever you're feeling) - they provide coolers for you to keep your beverage chilled, and a sound system to plug your music into. You basically pedal the barge down the river and back, although with a full group none of us had to work that hard at pedaling :) It's $35 and you're on the boat about an hour and a half. I would recommend booking the whole barge with a big group or making sure you book a cruise that has a full boat. The price is a little spendy but we had such a great time, it's not that big of a deal. I brought some snacks which was fine. The people here are super chill and friendly and will work with you for whatever you need. What are you waiting for? Go get your barge on!

What a fun, fun, fun.....event to do with your friends. Some of my work friends and I wanted to do a little team building and this brew barge was perfect. We arrived at 5:30 for our 6:00 tour. We were greeted and on the boat promptly at 6pm. We were allowed to have 3 drinks and snacks on our tour. Our captain Jim (I think) and his wife, Darleen (I think) were such great hosts. They took photos for us, jammed to our music and made the whole event fun. We pedaled down to the steel bridge and stopped for some scenic photos. We pedaled back to the Riverplace marina, about 90 minutes round trip. We didn't think about tipping so we were figuring that out while on the boat. I'd plan on each person tipping $5. They really deserve it. I can't wait to do this again next summer.

The BrewBarge was amazing! We had a meeting (for reals!). One person can stand at the table to take notes and keep the meeting moving - everyone else peddles and we all have beer! Win-win!! It was completely beautiful on the water, great views of the city! Here are some tips - 1) growlers are great for the boat, they supply the cups! 2) totally go the restroom before you leave - and pace yourself, there are no bathrooms on the boat. 3) if you get tired of pedaling (for us girls under 5'3" - it can be a little challenging even in the adjustable seats) just tell your driver and they will happily let you float! 4) bring water and some snacks! 5) not sure if you have enough beer or want to ensure variety - there is plenty available when you sign up. Don't miss this unique and awesome experience.

Fun times on the Brew Barge!

Too epic of an adventure! History was made today... CJ we love you... your funeral of single-dome will be remembered ... Cory the captain was reminiscent of Captain Ron! A Portland must!

Loved it! So fun to be out on the water, looking up at the bridges and seeing Portland from a totally different point of view. Our crew was super cool, made us feel like it was our special party. Brought birthday cake, beer, music and friends. Pedaling was part of the fun, but never difficult. Would definitely do it again.

The crew was really friendly and attentive, and the price of drinks was surprisingly cheap. The host of the evening did a great job toeing the line between giving facts/playing tour guide and letting people enjoy themselves. It was a good mix of interesting info without being overbearing. The tour goes south down way to Dunthorpe, turns and comes back on the far side of Ross Island, then goes up past the Fremont Bridge for unobstructed sunset views before heading back to dock. The price for the tour was right -- it was cheaper than the Portland Spirit's dinner cruise (the only tour they offer for sunset) and longer than their late afternoon happy hour cruise. Overall I recommend Island Style for a fun and easy tour of the Willamette!

We upgraded to the "Admiral Package," as this was a special Rose Festival Cruise, concluding with a fireworks display. The cruise itself was wonderful. The live piano music is a lovely enhancement, and the atmosphere was buoyant ;-). Every staff member was a delight and the captain is charming. But - The Food: Our appetizers were interesting, Mr. Wonderful ordered the Shrimp Cocktail and said it was alright. I had the Cheese Platter, some of the cheeses were hard, (as in dried out) and the crostini was *overly hard, bordering on stale. The salads were good, the dressing delicious. For our mains, I ordered the pasta dish. I took perhaps four bites and stopped eating. The pasta was far beyond al dente, the vegetables were almost unrecognizable - it lacked flavor or texture. Mr. Wonderful ordered the Beef Short ribs, and was happy with his meal. I'm going to chalk this up to me ordering incorrectly. Table clearing was another issue, our bread tray and appetizer plates remained on the table far too long. When our main courses were delivered, there was no room. We ordered our desserts and coffee. We received our coffee about 10 minutes afterwards. Then we watched as our server, served a large table next to us their desserts and a couple of other tables nearby. He may have been overwhelmed as this deck was extremely busy. Anyway, after waiting 20 plus minutes more, we requested our dessert, again. Cold coffee and dessert = not great. Our meal service from start to finish was disorganized. Viewing the fireworks from the top deck was a treat! We enjoy cruising with Portland Spirit and will do so again, but we would *not purchase the upgrade. Hint: Request (and pay for) a window seat on the *second deck, as the views are much more desirable.
