I recently returned from a Tuscan food and wine tour with a group of friends organized and led by Heidi with Forktown Food Tours, it was without a doubt one of the best curated and most thoughtful tours I've ever attended. Heidi is so easy to work with and did an amazing job of anticipating our needs and far exceeded any expectations I had before the trip. Great food, great wine, amazing sites, terrific local tour guides and a wonderful time with some dear friends ... Truely Memories to Last a Lifetime! GRAZIE MILLE Heidi and Forktown Food Tours.

We visited Portland in August and were lucky enough to be able to book a private tour with Forktown Food Tours. My family and I had such a wonderful time. Heidi was absolutely amazing. She made our time so enjoyable and was so knowledgeable. The food was delicious and the desserts out of this world. We got an overview of Portland's food history along with some valuable local tips on places to visits. Thank you Heidi for making our visit so enjoyable.

Loved their Downtown Portland tour and would definitely recommend! Our tour sampled: ** Nel Centro - Fresh little beet salad with some ricotta cheese and nuts. Fresh and light. I don't like beets and I liked this salad! Paired with prosecco flavored with elderflower liquor that was refreshing. Our tour check in was here so we arrived early and already started off with a glass of wine while we waited to begin. ** South Park Seafood - Cold smoked scallops in a flavorful, slightly spicy sauce paired with in house everything crackers. The husband was impressed and he hates cold seafood. Normally we would have tried ordering something like this! Pleasantly surprised to experience it. Paired with some ale beer. ** Wolf and Bears - Bean sprouted falafel that came with a tahini sauce and a spicy cilantro sauce. Smelled so good. Again wouldn't have usually ordered this (since we are carnivores) but was a tasty delight. ** Grassa - Fresh pasta with tomato sauce and pork. Nicely done and paired with a glass of their house red wine. I love pasta. Would definitely come back to this restaurant. Walking out we saw some regular diners with the pork belly mac and cheese.. just drilling thinking about that future visit. ** Cacao - tried a small bite of two different chocolate bars and a shot sized sample of their dark drinking chocolate. LOVED IT. Had time to purchase some chocolates before leaving the place. Would go to this place again. ** Saint Cupcakes - two mini cupcakes (aka "dots") in carrot cake and salted caramel chocolate; didn't care for the carrot cake as the cake didn't stand out and acted more of a vehicle for the buttercream; of all the places we went to, I was less impressed here. I think the food places may change from time to time depending on their partnerships and the season but that's a good thing to keep the itinerary fresh. The food we sampled were all great choices curated by them and the chefs at each establishment. Portions are generous for a food tour. Just enough to whet your appetite for Portland foodie scene. Felt fed and satiated at the end. Except for the food cart and dessert places, we were offered water and an alcoholic beverage paired with the dishes we sampled. At most of these stops, you had the opportunity to take a Bathroom break. Our tour last almost 3 hours long. Walking distance was about 1.5 miles. Able to wear my 2 inches booties comfortably enough as the ground we covered was fairly flat and there were many seating opportunities. Our guide Ana was friendly, knowledgeable, and good at keep our group on track. She also gave us additional foodie recommendations to try out while we are in town. Hoping to try out one of their other tours in the future!

We had an excellent tour with Forktown! Claire was our very accommodating and knowledgeable tour guide. At each stop she told us a lot about Portland history, the extensive local farming done in the area, and the high level of sustainability in the farming around the Portland area. We had 5 stops, each one giving a portion that was plenty to get the sense of the flavors and savor. At the end of the tour we were definitely full, it was the perfect amount! Tour lasted about 2.5 hours and everything was in fairly close walking distance so it was very convenient. Would recommend for anyone visiting Portland. Thank you Claire for the very enjoyable tour!

Our tour guide was really knowledgeable about the food and beverage industry in Portland. We were on time, she kept us moving. Go hungry, by the time you get to the pie place it's a little torturous to take one more bite. A nice way to pass the afternoon.

This Portland food tour was absolutely amazing! We tried all the local favorites including smoked fish, food pods, thai food, chocolate and ice cream. The tour guide, Ahna, was knowledgeable about organic food and the local restaurant scene. We highly recommend this food tour for those looking to explore the downtown food scene. Plus they have options for other tours around Portland, so check them out!

Did this with a group of friends on our first trip to Portland. We did the Downtown food tour and it was a great way to learn about local culture and cuisine. Our tour guide was Claire and she was quite knowledgable about the city. We also had 2 food allergies in our group which they did an excellent job accomodating. Our only negative comment was that it would be nice if us on the tour could talk about the food and the experience a bit more amongst ourselves. Claire did a lot of talking and we weren't able to find space to discuss the food or the scenery until after the tour ended. Otherwise a great experience and I would highly recommend to anyone coming to Portland.

I have been on two Forktown Food Tours, both excellent! Heidi is a phenomenal business owner and tour guide - Forktown tours have been thoughtfully coordinated and timed so that participants get a real flavor of Portland from both a foodie perspective and a history perspective. Heidi and her team clearly love Portland and roll out the red carpet for their customers!

Some of you might roll your eyes at the thought of a city food tour. After all, how hard could it be to find some good food in a big city? Well, if you're in a foodie city like Portland, it can be pretty daunting - not because there is a lack of good food around, but because there's too many to choose from. So what does a food tour offer? If you go with Forktown Food Tours, then it's about circling the globe in 3 hours, sampling foods from several continents, all while in the company of an informative, energetic guide. The Pearl District food tour allowed me to experience a couple things: see some up and coming brick & mortar restaurants, try Georgian food (Not the ATL Georgia...think Eastern Europe), and eat the best taco I've had in the US so far. Here's a breakdown of the places we visited during the Pearl District Food Tour (the list of restaurants visited during any given tour changes): ------------------------- Brasserie Montmarte: Lobster bisque, pinot noir from OR ------------------------- El Taco Yucateo: As mentioned the best taco I've had in North America. Shredded pork, pickled onions, black beans in a lightly fried corn tortilla ------------------------- Kargi Gogo: Georgian cuisine that included beef filled dumplings and hazlenut-filled eggplant ------------------------- Oven & Shaker: Modern, chic restaurant with rock fired pizza and skilled bartenders ------------------------- Lardo: Pig specialists that serve a mean IPA ------------------------- Cacao: Read my review. Chocolate wizards. ------------------------- Petunia's: Larger, reconstituted oreos with peanut butter filling. Bring a wheelchair so you can be helped out after eating some of their desserts ------------------------- If you're lucky enough to score the guide we did (Kelsey was her name) then you'll get more than just a food tour. You'll experience some of Portland's history, have some great conversation, and feel like you got your money's worth. Bravo, Forktown Food Tours.

We had an absolute blast on our food tour with Ahna! She was so knowledgeable and extremely kind. Everyone in our group of 12 loved her. The stops on the tour were all soooooo good. There wasn't one thing that I didn't devour immediately. And by the end I was FULL! This left me wanting to come back for more and more. I would love to go on another food tour on a future trip.

Another great tour from Forktown Food Tours. After the first tour of N. Mississippi Ave. with my daughter in February I wanted to experience more of what Forktown and Portland has to offer with my husband. We parked at the waterfront and walked our way through Portland's Saturday Market up the 9 blocks to meet at the first location. We first enjoyed a seasonal salad with local wine. The tour took us to a food cart sampling authentic fare from the country of Georgia, then a restaurant for a vegetarian mole dish with a mint margarita, Italian meatball sandwich with Willamette Beer at another location, Chocolate samples and, oh, the drinking chocolate that my husband still talked about 5 hours later. We finished our tour at a bakery featuring gluten free/egg free treats. Experiencing the N. Mississippi Ave. tour across the river, I had to compare the two. Mississippi Ave is all with in a 4 block area. It is more 'residential' then the 'Big City Scene'. The amount of food is comparable but in the Pearl you cover a larger walking area.. Mississippi Ave we were stuffed and did not have much 'walk it off ' opportunity between locations. Food is subjective of course. I personally preferred the choices on the Mississippi Ave tour. If I was to go back on my own to revisit any of the eateries, I would head to the ones across the river in a heartbeat. N. Mississippi Ave food choices are the winners over the Pearl District in my book. Forktown has very knowledgeable guides. Not only about the area that the tour is located but the Portland foodie scene in general. From local history, restaurants, food carts, owners, and chefs, they paint you a picture of Portland answering your who, what, where questions and how it all came to be. I really enjoyed meeting the owner of Forktown. She was our guide in the Pearl. Friendly, personable with a 'world' of knowledge. Yes, literally a 'world' of knowledge and experience. Even though I enjoyed the food more on Mississippi Ave then the Pearl District, 5 stars is still in order due to the information you come away with. My husband, who I had to convince to go, really enjoyed himself and said he would be happy to do another tour.

I was given this gift of a food tour and absolutely loved it. Kelsey was our food your guide and she was awesome! Not only was she enthusiastic and knowledgable about food and Portland, but she was also very knowledgable about culture, landmarks and other good info. here. She was casual and easy to talk to, and overall just made the whole tour really fun for everyone. I would highly recommend this tour and especially Kelsey as the guide!

Thanks to Heidi and Jessica, our lovely tour guides, for providing facts and fun about the food cart world of Portland on the two food cart tours I went on, and for all the owners who took the time to step out of their cart to talk about their cartpreneurship challenges and victories. I think my stomach might need a rest from another day of multi-hour sampling, but I would recommend any of their food tours to any visitors of Portland or those who live in Portland and want to explore lots of little bites and learn about food culture- be it the food cart culture like these tours, or neighborhoods. Forktown Tours covers the Alphabet District (Northwest 23rd area I think, which is more trendy) and North Portland (Alberta/Miss neighbohoodish which is more artsy) areas on walking tours on Thurs and Sat. Heidi and Jessica were very gracious, knowledgeable, and thoughtful- making sure everyone gets a sample, that we were hydrated and always gathered around to hear the food owner, making sure we had napkins and forks and wet naps and carrying Tums just in case. It is obvious they love food, love Portland, love spreading that love as if you were their own friend visiting them from out of town. Check them out!

The pacing of the tour was just right, and we appreciated the interesting history shared as we walked between locations. That said, for the price, I expected a bit more. At each stop, we were only offered one type of item, and the portion sizes were on the smaller side. I've done other food tours where you get to try a few different dishes at each location, which gives a better sense of the menu. Having at least a small selection or a few shared plates would have made the experience feel more complete. Overall, it was a good tour, especially if you're new to Portland or just visiting.
