When we began the tour, in the Deschutes Brewery Restaurant, Theresa filled us with Beer 101 knowledge and even one of the Deschutes Brewmasters came out for a Q & A session. He answered all questions, no matter how mundane or stupid they may have been. While we were walking to our next destination, Theresa filled our time with PDX Historical facts, that most people may know or not and by the time we reached our final destination, Rogue Brewery, everyone was already feeling jolly & talking loud, she patiently let all parties be themselves and enjoy the moment. This walking tour takes you to three (3) Brewery Restaurant Pubs, 1) Deschutes Brewery 2) Pints Brewing and 3) Rogue Brewing. This tour is an easy walk through the Pearl and Old Town districts with no hills etc. Additonally, you may even be able to make new friends, just like us...We stayed at Rogue Brewery long after the tour ended and became real good friends with this other couple from Winnipeg Canada, who was on the tour also, whom we traded email addresses with. I definitely recommend this tour for any beer lover, whether a novice or expert, in craft beers...you will definitely appreciate the depth and understand why Portland and the Pacific Northwest in general, is the mecca for the Craft Beer Industry.

We were so excited to visit smaller, local brew pubs both in downtown and the surrounding neighborhoods -- it was an amazing way to see Portland and try beers that we might never have had the opportunity to taste without a guide. Marc is knowledgeable, personable and a lot of fun! The "mini-seminars" on brewing ingredients were interesting and interactive, and his knowledge of Portland history added so much to the tour. We would definitely recommend ANYONE - from beer novice to veteran home brewer - call Marc if you want to make the most of "Beervana!"

He was great! We visited 5 places in Portland and the weather was amazing (I'm sure Marc had something to do with this, but I don't know how... Must be some ancient brewers magic...). I'm a homebrewer and have been doing it for years and I still learned a lot about beer and brewing (he gave me some tips for my own setup). My girlfriend (not an avid brewer) learned a lot too. Marc helped her narrow down her tastes and she got a little incite into why I get so excited about my hobby. He also knows a lot of local history and can make good recommendations for where to go post-tour. Just something to note: The cost of the tour does not include beer or food, but the places you go are affordable.

I had a really nice time on this walking tour with Todd! It was just my husband and me on the tour,…read moreso we pretty much got to spend time walking around the city and talking with Todd about all things Portland and weird stuff! We met at Rogue brewing where our first drink was purchased for us. Then we sat down outside and chatted with Todd a bit. He went through some good history of Rogue brewing and shared some cool stories with us and a few photos. Todd was very down to earth and easy to talk with. Since it was just the 3 of us on this adventure, he offered to take us around to places that sounded interesting to us. He mentioned a sour beer brewery close by, so we wandered that way to sample a few of their sour beers. While we were sipping on our drinks, he started sharing more stories with us about some real life unsolved mysteries related to Portland which was really cool to hear. He walked us around the neighborhood and gave us some fun facts about the new builds and the Belmont goats! We also learned about some of the street art and murals. I really liked the BotJoy art and enjoyed seeing the cool robots around the city! We walked around to hear about the Hawthorn Asylum which was burned down and now there is a nice little food cart station in that area which was nice to walk through and see the food options. We made it to a few other bars and tried some more drinks while also hearing stories about UFO's and Bigfoot! I loved these stories! Honestly, this walking tour was just what I needed. I learned so much about Portland and all the nice drinks and things to do in the area. Todd was really friendly and helpful. I am glad we got connected to him and that we were able to learn so much about this city and their beers! Thanks, Todd for a great evening stroll around the neighborhood!

I purchased 4…read moretickets overall, 2 for ourselves and 2 for our friends -so come saturday morning we were all set! We did a staruday morning a tour and let me be honest, you will need sunday to recover! For starters- Eat a breakfast -put down your special K flakes and get a harty breakfast to start. If you're not one to fill up first thing in the morning, no biggie get some sub sandwiches or pack a small sack lunch, you will be happy you do this! Even though appetizers are promised I wouldn't bank on it, bring those carbs! and Next don't order beers, they will come to you... They are all included in the cost of tour: 'Bus ride to each brewery and back to start 'Great general facts, info, and tid bits on the beer, the breweries, Portland Beers and such 'Jim the great as your host 'We toured Hopworks brewery, and each got a little taster sample sheet to record our beers 'We also stopped at: Amnesia Brewery, Hopeworks, Pyramid, and someplace else I was too drunk to remember.. Our group of people got a little annoying after a while, we had a few criers (which is what happens when you give females alcohol during a breakup) but I had so much fun, I recommend bringing your own group of friends and setting up plans to eat somewhere nearby following the events. 5 stars for getting everything out of the tour I had expected!

I will admit that if I hadn't been traveling with 40 extremely loud and obnoxious people on my tour I would have probably enjoyed it much more. So do keep that in mind when booking this tour. If you are a 20-something person looking to get drunk and don't care at all about the types of beer you are drinking it's totally for you. If you are interested in learning more about beer and doing some different tastings while actually learning a bit about the brewing process, you might want to look elsewhere. Unfortunately, my experience was tarnished by super loud and drunk people chanting a bus driver's name while the guide was quietly trying to talk about the beers we had tried at each brewery. We didn't really hear much about the beers we were trying except for at the first brewery. Some of us actually left while at the third brewery because it was becoming a circus. At one point, after only 2 breweries, 20 very drunk guys plowed into a brewery bathroom at once and I believe one tried to pee in the same urinal as my husband at the same time. Not really what I expected to pay $90 for... Again, I think it all depends on who is also traveling on the tour with you, so it's a real crap shoot, but for the money, I would try a different experience.

My friends and decided to visit Portland for the weekend. For some, it was their first time there,…read moreso I wanted to take them around to see the city, eat donuts, and drink beer. Since we had multiple stops and there were 15 of us including 3 toddlers, it would have been a huge hassle to call so many Ubers/Lyfts. Not to mention all the heavy car seats that we would have had to carry with us to each location. My solution: renting a private bus! I reached out to multiple shuttle companies, but Shanghai really stood out to me. Dusty responded almost immediately and was very helpful in providing details about their pricing and buses. While my main goal was really just to safely and efficiently get my group to the various spots, it was a plus that Shanghai's bus also included a karaoke machine. Once we decided on the terms and details, Dusty sent over a contract within the next few days. The morning of our ride, Dusty texted to let me know our bus was on the way. Our driver, Ron, arrived a few minutes early, so by our reservation start time, we were all set to go. He was professional, kind and drove cautiously. As it was raining, I appreciated that he dropped us off as close as he safely could at each location, and then picked us back up when we were ready to continue to the next spot. The cooler was also stocked with ice, as promised. We ended up riding the Solid Gold bus, which is literally a converted school bus. I must admit this was very different from our typical sprinter party bus experience. For one, I had never ridden a party bus with kids before, and blasting "Wheels On The Bus" instead of dance music was such a different vibe. Lol! The bus was unique and had a vintage feel -- very Portland. Given our situation, I actually preferred this over the dark, tinted windows of the sprinters we are used to. The Solid Gold allowed us to see the city during our rides. We got a lot of stares every time we pulled up to a donut shop or brewery, but it was a fun experience. Everyone had a great time, especially the kids who now point out every bus that passes by on the street and say they want to go back to the party bus!

We just moved from Denver a few years ago so always looking for good eats! We decided to check out a neighborhood that we've never explored ourselves and we had such a great time. We started at the food carts and had some delicious BBQ then walked a couple blocks and got to try this delicious glass noodle salad and local wine. Honestly, I was pretty full already from those first two stops but we had two more to go! We ended up going to a local brewery as well as a dairy-free ice cream shop! Ariel, our tour guide, immediately won points in my book for being both an artist and a New Mexican native. These traits are not what made her an apt, knowledgeable, or personable tour guide, per say, but they're what made me see my reflection in her mirror. "Hey! I'm an artist (writer) from New Mexico and a food tour guide, too!" With that said, Ariel did an awesome job. She knows her history, her food, her city, and has a fun personality to tie it all together. Our group was a mix of locals and travelers, solo eaters (yours truly) and a group of friends. We all got along great, and enjoyed every stop. What I enjoyed most about this was 1) the location. Mississippi Ave is a gem! Get out of downtown and explore this place! 2) the diversity of dining. I'm not well-versed enough in Korean Mexican food to know what to order at a food cart, same with Thai cuisine (um, Pad Thai? Yes I am that uneducated), so I was glad to have a great dish handed to me. Also, I liked the balance of savory, sweet, and even vegetables, and the fact it moved like a progressive meal (salad, appetizer, main, palate cleanser, dessert). I definitely recommend!
