If you get a chance hop on the ferry from fort fisher and spend a day in Southport. They are the friendliest people, have cute shops and plenty of restaurant options. I recommend the provision company. Large amounts of delicious food moderately priced with great atmosphere. Back to the hotel. I will definitely stay here again. I do miss having the owners on sight. You now have to communicate through text. There were some issues with the pool and the wifi but we were out and about most the time so it wasn't too bad. The location is worth any glitches, and the price is affordable. If the pool is not opened by 9am just send them a message and they will have someone open it. When we got there on a Monday, there was only one other car in the parking lot. There's no housekeeping possibly because they said that they're being bought out. Next morning, we reported that the toaster and microwave didn't work. Toilet sink was clogged and it needs more toilet paper. Towels were really thin so we needed more but no one came so we had to call the number the office left posted on the door late evening. They came and left a bin full of towels and offered They have a kitchen but make sure to bring paper towel, salt, pepper and trash bags. It's a bit run down and don't expect workers until the transition is done. It needs upgrade desperately. We love to love it because it has such great potential esp in the summer but I don't think we'll stay again until new owners come in with some hospitality trained staff.

Hotel Lela is connected to Tru but who wants to walk back and forth to heat up their food. Also, it was a bit annoying that you don't have anywhere in the shower to place your soap or body wash. The hotel is in a central location where it's close to a lot of places such as restaurants, shopping, etc. so you're near some of everything, just be mindful of your surroundings. As stated, they're adjoining to Tru so you share the pool and games. You have to go to the front desk of Tru to get the corn hole bags and paddles/table balls for the games. And what makes this so crazy is the fact that this location was renovated about 5 years ago! I want to start with the good and talk about the people here. They do have great employees that are always kind and emphatic to you, but must not have any control over the condition of the hotel. They do have a market like most Marriott properties where you can buy frozen food, drinks, and snacks, and have a continental breakfast every morning with eggs, some sort of meat, yogurt, waffles, bagels, cereal, and usually either hash brown patties or biscuits. Each room comes with the basics. A TV, bathroom, closet, window, etc.. There are no balconies in any of the rooms. Last time I was here, the shower drain was stopped up and ended up flooding my bathroom a bit. This time, NONE of the room keys could open ANY of the room doors, meaning that no one could get into their room. The ONLY thing that they had was a little key fob that they used to get people in their rooms. Meaning that the employee working at the front desk had to go with the resident to their room to open their room for them. That is ridiculous. And there have been issues before that, but these are the two recent ones. I would not recommend staying at this property.

There is no official front desk, so we spoke with the people at the stand by the parking lot, and they were able to share information and assist bringing my parents' bags to their room, up a flight of stairs. There's a small sitting area on the balcony outside the rooms, and each room has its own unique decor. We love the eye for detail and design. Our room is The Hamptons, with two double beds and a separate room with TV and sitting area and desk (though it is open to the bedroom because no doors exist in the doorway; it would be cool if they had sliding doors to separate the spaces). The bar downstairs is lively and fun with amazing cocktails and a few small bite options, and it operates from the backyard yard of the Inn, so be prepared for a bit of noise from that and the street to filter into the room especially on weekends. This bar doubles as the Concord Espresso House that serves amazing espresso drinks and pastries in the morning. The indoor seating is low key elegant, a great spot to sit and start your morning.
