Family visiting and wanted to go stand up paddle boarding and we found this place on the way off the island while we were grabbing dinner and glad that we were able to go on a Friday show up with no reservation and rent the SUPs for two hours along the waterway You get a brief introduction on how to hold a paddle and maneuver your way on the stand up paddle boards and I did get the local shop cell phone number just in case we got stuck but they did advise us to stayy off of the grass since there are oyster beds over there and you can cut your feet from the sharp shells but overall a good time and will definitely be back when I'm in the area. They are also able to hold your keys just in case you do flip off and lose your items from the bungee cords on your board. read more

Jarrod is the best! My husband took me to Wrightsville to celebrate my birthday and we signed up for the escorted kayaking tour. This is our first time to Wrightsville. Not only was he knowledgeable about how to read the water and how to kayak, he was also knowledgeable about the natural life that live in the area. He and his family are the friendliest and most welcoming. We got up bright and early and they had already set up everything. Coming from Hawaii, I never felt this welcomed anywhere else. I felt at ease even though I didn't know what to expect like they were long time friends and I never met them before. Who knew the Aloha Spirit is also in Wrightsville. Overall had a really fun experience paddle boarding here. Went out with 3 other couples where we each shared a board with our significant other. Prices for the rentals are fair. My only complaint was one of the employees (an older man) was super rude to us while helping us get on the boards, saying that paddle boarding wasn't for 2 people and the boards were not designed to be used that way. Really unnecessary and ridiculous commentary as the website for this company literally shows a couple on a paddle board together. If what he was saying was truly the case, the website should reflect that and advise against the way we booked the experience, which it did not. The other employees were very nice and helpful, and we still had a good time despite this guy having such a ridiculous attitude. read more

First off, Jared is the reason I'd come back to rent kayaks or SUPs or bikes. He ensures the equipment is ready, in great condition, and he is extremely flexible when it comes to changing reservations. Recently, I rented a kayak for the full day, beginning at 11 am and I would've had to have it back by 8 pm. I paid ahead of time. Unfortunately, about 3 PM, I got called back into work and had to bring the kayak up. About 20 minutes later, Jared calls me telling me that I could come back any time and use up the remaining time I had paid for. Excellent staff, excellent equipment, and a perfect location. It's right on the Northeastern part of the island, so you can easily paddle down the harbor or around to the ICW. If you're coming to Wrightsville Beach and want to rent a kayak or a paddle board or bike, this is the place to do it. read more

Nice little friendly spot to rent equipment. We rented beach bikes and had intended to do the River to Sea bikeway into Wilmington having reviewed it carefully and looked at the map. We would not recommend it at all. We are reasonably seasoned bicyclists but it's downright dangerous in many spots with heavy traffic passing inches from you with many complex intersections. And v poor signage overall. We'd recommend to stick to the beach boardwalks and local streets only. read more

SUP rental summary Great staff and great location. Rentals are $20/hr either single kayak or SUP (you'll have to check out their site for tandem rental rates). They also offer instruction sessions Admittedly, I was very nervous about SUP and falling, so I started off kayaking. When I finally gave in and tried SUP, I was hooked! It looks very intimidating, however, the staff gives you a quick lesson on the basics of paddling before sending you out. No one here takes anything super seriously which helps with the intimidation factor. The pros (oh so many!) -open year-round -great launch site with access to Palm Tree Island and various marshes -abundance of rental equipment (although if you have a particularly large group, should call ahead) -great staff -they hold your car keys for you (no need to worry about dropping them in the ocean!) The cons: parking during peak season can be very full, you can park in the empty building lot next door, but need to put a parking sticker from Wrightsville SUP in your dash. Highly recommend for anyone wanting a water sports adventure. read more

Jarrod was so helpful and friendly. A friend and I joined a night paddle, eager to get out on the water while there were not as many boats cruising through the water way. It was my second time ever on a SUP board and Jarrod and his staff taught us some tips to make paddling fun and easy (especially after dark). Our boards had lights on them so we could see the water and our surroundings, it was a blast! I never felt out of place as a beginner. Jared, the owner, was our tour guide and SUP instructor. Even though it was Labor Day Weekend and things can get crazy at the beach, he was very patient with me and my two daughters who were new to the paddle board. He was very careful with my 10-year-old who needed to go at a slower pace and he had a cold water bottle on the board when she needed something to drink. I am also glad he gave us an educational talk on the marsh ecosystem. The highlight of the trip for the girls was when he had his dog safely do a bellyflop off of the board so that they could join the dog for a refreshing swim. We plan on returning to rent a craft. This a great place for the quick water rental. We stopped here for some kayaks a few months back a little before the season started. Jared was not in town but said he would drive over if we wanted to rent in about a half an hour. He arrived promptly and a did a great job explaining where to go, the currents and all the relevant safety stuff. All the equipment was in great shape and rates were quite reasonable. It also was quick and easy to rent, which was nice as some places seem to be obsessed with lots of paperwork. Great place! Booked on line easily for a 2 hour SUP session. Prices was only $35 which was shockingly low than what I thought it would be. I've rented boards from across the blockcade runner a few years back and we definitely paid a lot more. Staff was helpful and really nice. We didn't have a watch or phone with us so we were a bit over our 2 hr time limit but they didn't charge us anymore money. Such a great spot! Go here to rent your water play needs. read more
