I wish I had found him sooner! Tony answered the phone and arranged to come by the next day! I almost thought I heard wrong! He was prompt, and to my surprise, was extremely friendly, professional, and easy going. I was very specific with our project and had major concerns, but Tony addressed all of them, and put me at ease. The estimate was also very reasonable. We had to wait about two weeks for his crew to start the work, which was not a problem. We had waited many years, so what is a few weeks! On the morning of, Tony and his crew showed up on time and worked quickly and efficiently. They removed the asphalt, levelled and graded our driveway, and laid down gravel, which was properly compacted. About one month later, Tony and his crew (Anthony, Ed, Jason and Daniel) came back to pour the asphalt. The asphalt was high quality and a fresh batch. The edges where the asphalt met our concrete garage door landing and our walkway were clean and sharp. I watched the entire process and was amazed at the details. The workmanship was exceptional, and the crew were easy to work with (no attitude whatsoever)! The only difficult part was allowing the driveway to cure for approximately 7-10 days. Thankfully, I was able to obtain parking permits with the City, to allow parking on our street. Our driveway looks absolutely amazing! I don't know why we waited so long! If you need residential or commercial paving, interlocking, line painting, or winter services, such as snow clearing and salting, Tony is your guy! This went on for over 40 minutes, despite the fact that there was less than 10 cm of snow and the snowfall had been over for over 12 hours! When I reached out to Gardenzilla, their reply was that "it was probably a broken muffler". Well, if it was a broken muffler, why not clear the snow the old-fashioned way: with a shovel?!? On September 3, 2022, I entered a contract with Wendy, representing JP Lucky, for the framing of a…read morecustom home in Stouffville. Throughout the construction process, Wendy frequently changed the contractors assigned to the project--ultimately involving four to five different teams. I was present on-site regularly and personally observed these changes. The subcontractors engaged by JP Lucky often delivered substandard work. Once deficiencies were identified, JP Lucky would dismiss the existing team and hire new subcontractors to continue. Although I fulfilled my obligations under the contract, JP Lucky failed to complete the project on time, and the work completed was defective. Due to these issues, I submitted a claim for adjudication through the Ontario Dispute Adjudication for Construction Contracts (ODACC), Case No. XXXX. On December 18, 2024, ODACC issued its Determination, providing copies to both the Respondent and me. The Determination ordered the Respondent to reimburse me $XXX,XXX (including HST) and $X,XXX (including HST), representing 50% of the adjudication fee. Despite my repeated demands, JP Lucky has failed to comply with the Determination or remit the required payment. While Wendy and JP Lucky initially present themselves as amicable and reliable, their conduct reveals a failure to act in good faith. Despite receiving payment for services, they have refused to return funds for work that was either unfinished or materially deficient, thereby disregarding the interests of their clients.
