I'm pretty sure a few people here aren't racist, but there is definitely racism going on! I took my wife out for lunch, only to get mugged at upon entrance--basically, we got a nasty look like, What are they doing here? I greeted a few guests as we walked in with my usual, How are you guys doing? The first thing we were asked was, Are you drinking? We replied, No, we're here to eat only! While putting in our order before being seated, we ordered a dozen wings and mentioned that we'd like to try a few more flavors. The bartender/server recommended getting plain wings with the sauces on the side. I said, Okay, sounds good, but instead of just a dozen, give us a half dozen more. I even pointed at the menu while saying this--first at the dozen, then at the half dozen, making it clear we wanted 18 wings total: 12 with sauce and 6 plain for dipping. Instead, she brought out two dozen wings--12 sauced and 12 plain. When I tried to explain the mix-up, she wouldn't even let me finish. She just kept rudely cutting me off, repeating, What do you want me to do? What do you want me to do? louder each time. I turned to my wife and said, Why is she talking to us like this? Like we aren't even customers? At this point, I got pissed off and said, What the hell, this stupid bitch. I'll admit, I probably shouldn't have said that--but at the same time, I have freedom of speech, and we were being treated like garbage when we were just trying to have a meal together. The bartender/server then grabbed our plates off the table and said, That's it, that's it, before walking back behind the bar with our food. Then the cook came out acting like some club security guard, pounding one fist into her palm like she was ready to fight. I'm standing there thinking, Look at this bullshit. All we wanted was to eat, and instead, they kicked us out after a full-blown screaming match. The cook got so close to my face that our noses almost touched, with spit flying all over me--disgusting! As we were walking out, she was so heated that she screamed at me all the way to our car, calling me nigga! So I called her a fat dyke. She was so desperate to fight that it seemed to hurt her that we didn't. Now for my diagnosis--We should have been treated better. If this was someone's grandma, she would have handled the situation professionally and taken care of her customers. Instead, the fat one even admitted that the minute we walked in, the bartender told her in the back, They look like trouble. Oh, and I got that on video. That just proves they were profiling us the second we walked in. Smh. And to top it off, the big one followed us all the way outside, trying to instigate a fight, even threatening to call the cops to scare us. At this point, it's beyond just bad service--this is discrimination and harassment. No paying customer should be treated this way, let alone be threatened, yelled at, or followed out of an establishment just for existing. The fact that they immediately labeled us as "trouble" the second we walked in shows clear racial profiling, and it's all on video. We have every right to take legal action for discrimination, harassment, and even defamation, considering they tried to make us out to be the aggressors when it was their staff that escalated everything. I'll be looking into my options, whether that's filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, pursuing legal action, or making sure everyone in the area knows how this place really operates. If you believe in respect, equality, and not being harassed just for walking into a restaurant, I'd suggest staying far away from this place. read more

I drove by this so many times and had no idea it was a bar. I blame that on the signage out front and the fact that it's in a plaza with an Ace Hardware store. You see Ace and then trophy you think that it's a sporting goods store. But I digress. Out one evening with my family and we decided to come here. Just happens to be my sister's favorite place. I was totally surprised when I walked in here and saw how modern it was. I was expecting the typical Johnstown bar that has the dive-y, run down look going. Not here. Bright lighting that can be dimmed, large areas for multitudes of people, a large U shaped bar and just a good time to be had. One side of the bar has a dedicated seating area. During the earlier hours you can dine in house. I can not speak to the food here as I only experienced the bar. The other side of the bar has more of a recreation feel to it. Pool tables, dart boards, golf arcade game, jukebox (Touch Tunes). When the music is playing, it's quite nice and with the app, you don't need to get up and meander over to the machine on the wall. Bartenders are amazing. They do everything with a smile and are very attentive. Smoking is permitted outside only, which can turn out to be a very entertaining area to be. We went to Trophy's today for breakfast as it was highly recommended by a friend. We arrived at 9:30am and there were no cars in the parking lot, although they open at 9:00am. As we opened the door to the restaurant, we could smell a strong cigarette odor. A man with a cigarette in his hand greeted us and said we could sit anywhere we liked. (I guess so because every seat and table was empty). We decided to leave immediately because it was obvious that cigarette smoking was allowed in the restaurant. We were not about to smell cigarette odor while eating breakfast. As we walked to our car, we saw another man walk out of the restaurant with a cigarette in his hand. To my knowledge, cigarette smoking is not allowed in a restaurant in Pennsylvania. Avoid Trophy's unless you enjoy eating while inhaling second hand smoke. read more

As a relatively new comer to town, I simply had to try this place out (plus I literally drove by it almost everyday.). I was initially rather intrigued by the name. As other Yelpers have mentioned, it's location is a tad off putting, seeing as it sits directly across from an Ace Hardware store, but don't let that deter you. On the inside, there is a designated restaurant area with table seating and a quite large bar area. (One of the biggest bars I've seen in town so far!) Down past the bar is a gaming area with darts, billiards table, and other related games. The first time I laid eyes on the menu, I instantly knew why they were named Trophy's! They have an entire sandwich menu all named after trophies/events. The Heisman and Le Tour de France... just to name a few. These sandwiches are your typically bar food/restaurant type sandwiches: Rubens, fish, chicken, beef, etc. The chicken is quite tasty! I've also had their french dip roast beef... which I believe is the Le Tour de France sandwich. One note on this sandwich, the sandwich itself is tasty, but the au jus it is served with is VERY salty. I've also always had good service here! The barstaff keep you smiling and customers happy. The food is good but the service is close to non-existent. I sat at a booth solo for a good 10 minutes before being acknowledged. Asked to sample a draft.....another 5 minutes. Another 15 minutes gone before I got a menu and a beer and I already knew what I wanted to eat. The food here is hit or miss as is the staff. Some of the people that work the bar and the kitchen are absolutely incredible, they enjoy what they do and it shows in the taste of the food and in the atmosphere of the room. However, there are times my husband and I have come here and found that we would have had a better meal and experience eating the gum off of the sidewalk outside of a sewage plant. Friendly neighborhood bar-restaurant. Trivia night is popular. The beer selection is decent, and the menu is satisfying. Wings are really good, but pay attention when your waitress says the hot wings are really hot. I like heat, but their hot is over the top. Hot roast beef sandwich is excellent. Trophy's Bar & Grill is really the only true Bar still open in the Westmont Shopping Plaza area of the West Hills of Johnstown,Pennsylvania. It is in a small shopping Plaza across from the Westmont Ace Hardware store. Technically it is in Lower Yoder Township but the Westmont border is only a few feet away. Convenience for people living in Westmont, Upper and Lower Yoder Townships and Southmont are a huge plus in my book.( I am a Westie myself) By day it is a Restaurant/ Bar and food is served until 10 pm after 10 its drinks only. They are normally open 7 days a week from 11am until 2am. The food is very good I would say possibly a bit better than what you will get at Eat N Park. I have eaten here many times and never was disappointed. The fish dinners here have always been one of my favorites they are often the special on Fridays. I have enjoyed going here for some time both to eat and to drink and talk to friends. If you smoke you will have to go outside and that can be a social area on its own. When Trophys started out I was not sure it would last but Amanda and James and Chelsea have all really improved it by being amazing Bartenders. It is now several years old and established and a great place to go to have fun and eat and drink. read more

We are visiting our son from out of state and decided to give this restaurant a try since our son hadn't eaten here before but has been wanting to. We ate here twice within a three day period. The second time reluctantly, hoping the first visit wasn't the norm. On the first visit, it was their wing night special. The two appetizers came out first. I had asked if ranch came with the pickles (anywhere else it does) and was told yes. We were charged .75 for a very small cup of it. Our fries came out before the wings, along with the homemade chips. The chips were cooked too long and tasted very burnt and overloaded with seasoning. I had to go to the bar to ask for refills on our drinks. The server was not attentive, and we had to keep asking when we wanted refills. Several minutes later, the wings came out. After we had plenty of time to eat the fries. They should've been served together. My mild wings tasted like pure butter. As did my daughter-in-law's. We didn't eat them, and thought we'd take them home and doctor them up for leftovers. My husband and son both got hot (both love it very hot and spicy) and said it was hot enough but overloaded with black pepper. My son scraped off what he could. It took forever to get the check. Mind you, the place was not busy at all. Last night we had more people come into town and decided to give them one more try. When we walked in there was one table of two leaving and 3 people at the bar. The ones at the bar appeared to not be eating, just having drinks. There were 10 of us, but again no other tables at all. Some of the appetizers were fried too long again. The meals were not served at about the same time really. Three came out and those waited because they didn't want to start eating until everyone got their meal. Finally I said just eat or it'll get cold. Then another meal came out, then a few minutes later another two. My son-in-law waited about ten minutes for his to finally come to the table. My husband and I were sharing a meal and waited about 15 more minutes for our meal to finally come to the table and everyone else was just about done eating. In the meantime, more people were coming in. Our sandwich was cold! I got the server's attention and politely informed her of this. I was fine with heating the sandwich up but on a different plate. I didn't want the french fries going in the microwave. She then told me that she'd just have a fresh sandwich made but we'd have to wait because there were 7 tickets ahead of us now. What??!!! I couldn't believe my ears! You wait a ridiculously long time to finally get your meal, it's not edible to you, then you have to wait again because the people who came in and ordered after you, way after you, get priority. Unbelievable. We just asked to have it removed from the bill. It was and another meal was brought out but that took awhile (even after being told it was pushed to the front) and now everyone else was completely finished. Well, now we know how bad this restaurant is and won't be going to again, nor will we recommend it to any of other other local family or friends. Oh, did I mention it's a sports bar but only has 4 small tvs for a pretty big space? Usually there's bigger sets and positioned to where people can see from different angles.
