We were able to seat our large group immediately with no issues. It took a few minutes for our server to appear with menus, and again after getting our drink orders, but she seemed to be the only server working on a busy Saturday afternoon. The restaurant was a bit noisy, even though no bowling seemed to be happening. The food was typical bar fare, but cooked well enough to be considered comfort food. A Disappointing and Disrespectful Experience -- Please Read Before Visiting My sister and I drove over 4 hours from the DMV area to Pennsylvania for a wedding and ended up staying at Foggy Mountain Lodge (review for that coming soon). After checking in and settling our things, we began the search for somewhere to eat on July 4, 2025, which wasn't easy, as most places were closed for the holiday. After a long search, we landed on this place based on the reviews and decided to give it a try. From the moment we stepped inside, the energy was uncomfortable. The dining area had only a few tables occupied and several people were seated at the bar. As we entered, we were immediately met with long, unwelcoming stares that made the atmosphere tense and awkward. Wanting to be respectful, I waited at the bar with my sister to ask the bartender if we should seat ourselves. She turned around and proceeded to speak to and acknowledge everyone at the bar except us. We were standing right there. She looked past us like we weren't even present. It was uncomfortable and frankly, humiliating. Eventually, a staff member walked out from the kitchen and I asked them instead. They were kind and confirmed that we could seat ourselves and said the bartender would be with us shortly. We sat at one of the high-top tables near the bar, just inches away from the bartender, and waited. No water. No greeting. No acknowledgment. We watched as the bartender left the bar to serve two women who walked in after us. Another staff member, the same one who originally said we could seat ourselves, came back a few times to check in but all she really said was "you have menus" or "she should be with you soon." We sat there, visibly ignored, while every other table had drinks or food. We had nothing. We weren't even acknowledged by the bartender once. It became clear. We were being purposely overlooked. Whether it was due to race or some other reason, I don't know. But I do know that we were the only ones treated this way, and it felt horrible. After a while, I told my sister we should leave. As we got up, a couple at the bar stopped us and asked, "Are you guys walking out?" I said yes, and the woman responded, "You can go to Caroline's down the road. This place is terrible." That interaction alone was strange but it reinforced how off the environment truly was. I replied, "We're going to McDonald's, probably better service there." We didn't go to McDonald's, but at that point, anywhere else would've been better than being disrespected like that. I want the owners and staff to know we were visitors. We were respectful. We did nothing to deserve the lack of acknowledgment or service. And while some may write this off as a misunderstanding, being ignored while everyone else is served and welcomed is not a misunderstanding. It's mistreatment. If you're a traveler, especially if you are Black, I cannot recommend this place. I am grateful we didn't spend a dime there because the emotional toll of that experience was more than enough. Pennsylvania is beautiful, but this stop was a harsh reminder that hospitality isn't always extended to everyone equally. Do better. read more

This is not a fine dining establishment, but it is certainly a much better dining experience than I expected to find at a bowling alley. The food was good. The staff was very effective and efficient. They even had a few different vegetarian options (though not many). All-in-all, I was very happy with the overall experience. Reliable, decent breakfast food at reasonable prices. Although there was a disparity between the menu prices and the prices on the wall signage for the breakfast specials, I chalked it up to inflation like everywhere else. You may not consider a bar/ bowling alley as a place for breakfast, but locals know it's one of the best in town. Good coffee and many options will greet you as you look over the choices. We went with the breakfast special, two eggs prepared as you wish, choice of buttered slices of white or wheat toast, choice of ham, bacon or sausage patties and two hash brown cakes. I chose the bacon option which was extra crispy. This isn't gourmet food, but as good as any diner and the atmosphere is nice and relaxed. Service was fine, although it may be slower at times because there's typically only one waitress on duty. She runs her butt off! Restrooms were clean and right off the dining area. This is a quick meal if you're on a schedule but many folks like to linger and talk and relax here, especially on a weekend morning. read more

We have sampled everything from their salads, wings and sandwiches all very good and plentiful portions. I have never met a bartender that was so unhappy and rude as the bartender this evening. I didn't want to leave a tip but I did because that is the right thing to do but she didn't thank me. Seriously have been going to bars for over 30 years and have never met a more miserable person. You should get a new bartender if you want people to come back. We visited this establishment during the Ligioneer Days event in 2024. After a long day of walking around and shopping, we went over to the Wicked Googly to grab a drink. When we walked in, there were people at the bar and a lot of empty tables so we had a seat. While we were waiting to be waited on, we were taking bites of a cheesecake we had left from a previous vendor. At that point, a young girl came running over to tell us we were not permitted to bring in outside food then turned around in the same breath and stormed away. She didn't bother to ask us if we'd like to order anything, just stormed away. Fair enough, although taken aback by such rude aggressive behavior, we put ours away, but my friend proceeded to finish her 3 bites of ice cream before doing so. I'm sitting there scratching my head asking why the little witch didn't bother taking our orders when she came over while another young lady proceeds to come over and throw us out while the whole "busy" waitstaff was standing behind the bar smiling. We understood why no one was in the bowling alley as we left that place with a pretty overall bad feeling about the event. Next year we plan to stick with the vendors and stay out of the "regular" eating establishments. "They don't seem to care for outsiders" was our overall feeling for the day. Good selection of beers at good prices, wings were some of the best I've had in years, and the gentlemen working the bowling counter in the evening could not have been more courteous and helpful. After a 6 hour drive from NJ, we were hungry. Staying at the nearby Ramada Inn, to go to FallingWater tomorrow. This place hit the spot. It's a bar/restaurant/bowling alley! I'm giving a two star rating only cause they had my favorite brewery on tap, Helltown. On tap today was a Good Intentions Porter, very good beer, but that's not what this review is about. My girlfriend and I just finished a strenuous 22 mile run on the nearest section of Laurel Highlands Hiking Trail, we were hungry and with ligonier being the closest town we looked up places to eat, we landed on the googly. I've had friends talk about this place like it was a hidden gem, so I had to check it out. It's a gem that should stay hidden. I ordered a beer battered cod fish sandwich figuring we are in SW PA and if it's one thing small towns do well is a fish fry. It had to have been straight out of the box from their newrest grocery store, along with the fries that accompanied it. Nothing about the meal was good, but after burning the calories we did, food was what we wanted. I guess we got what some people would call food, and at least the beer was good and at $5 a draft, it was reasonable. I won't be visiting the wicked googly anytime soon unless it's cause I'm in ligonier and I want to bowl (oh yeah, it's attached to ligonier lanes) or drink some decent beers they had on tap. read more

We visited here twice while we were in town. We had drinks and soft pretzels the first night and wraps, onion rings, and fries the second night. While the service was spotty (first night was better than second night) we found the food to be good. We both liked our wraps and the onion rings and fries were not average bar food. Well, we stopped in for our first (possibly last) time for an afternoon snack. While the service was very courteous, for the most part, the food and bar drinks took too long: the food came 25 minutes after ordering, and while we asked for the dairy to be left off of one sandwich, due to our daughter's allergy, the blue cheese was there. Needless to say we were dumbfounded. They politely apologized and removed the charge, but we were left with a very hungry teenager. We were able to share our meals with her. What a surprise to walk in to what seemed like a standard casual bar / restaurant and find a bowling alley right there too! It has a whimsical feel somehow - maybe due to the name and signs displayed? This place was perfect for what we wanted; a quick & simple bite to eat. We had great service and the waitress very kindly assisted us with a make shift to go cup (sans the lid) when we asked about taking some ginger ale with us because of not feeling well. Certainly not fine dining, but if you want pizza and wings without any fuss, this is your answer. Btw, the buffalo chicken dip is mild but very good. And the garlic citrus rub on the wings is a great choice! read more

I couldn't disagree more with the two star rating. My co-pilot and I were overnighted in Ligonier after flying some people into Latrobe. We were laid over for three days. We ate at a couple of places, but always came back to The Wicked Googly. We quickly made friends with the bar staff and were treated like buddies every night we walked in. One bartender in particular was extremely friendly. She even knew our favorite drinks by the second visit. The food was good too, especially taco-Tuesday. Who doesn't love tacos?! Since we do travel quite a bit I know what it is like to run into snobby bar staff, but this is one of the more friendly places I have been and look forward to going back for wings Wednesday! read more

I wish my city had a joint like this. It's a fun little place with a lot going on. There is the rad old school glow bowl alley in the back, then in the middle it's kind of a dive bar, there's a stage (fun karaoke night with regulars!) and the bar area itself has a little touch of class with its bright wood, faux stone, and really amazing plush leather full-backed barstools! Drinks were cheap, people were friendly enough, and they seemed to have a decent food menu with nightly specials. If I lived in Ligonier this would be my regular spot. read more

Stopped in Ligonier for a night on the way to Falling Water, a week before Christmas - cute, lovely PA, seasonal town. The Wicked Googly is your standard local sports bar without the Booming sports casts and WITH a bowling ally under the same roof. Food reasonably priced and tastey - impressive draft beer list. I have given up on the Interstates and prefer the back roads and smaller towns and Lingonier is a gem, the surprise bowling ally makes my point. read more

The only reason I would give this place two stars is due to the decent live music and the renovations made a few years ago added much improvement from when it was Ligonier Lanes. They do change up their draft selections often, which adds some class. However, with all the bells and whistles, the beautiful new bowling lanes, new bar and overall feel, I'm always super disappointed with this place. If it wasn't for the music, I don't view this as a hot spot. I've tried twice to make lane reservations during a weekend afternoon. I did my job of calling days in advanced, only to show up once during league night and having to pack my party into one lane. It's as if they had no clue I had a reservation. The second time, there wasn't even anyone working the lanes and I had to wait for someone to show up to set it up an hour later. The bartender also had no idea there was a reservation. Next severity is the miserable bar staff. Now, I know serving drunk people probably sucks, but it is their job to serve. Why not try serving with a smile? Being this is a small town, there are a lot of little cliques happening. If your not buddy-buddy with the bartenders, expect to be ignored. So many times, I've waited for 5 to 10 minutes only to have a buddy buddy come up and get served right away. I don't even try anymore. If I do go in to see a band, I have someone else grab my beers. Don't get mixed drinks either. The plastic cups are small, expensive and seem to be watered-down. The bar shape gets a bit crowded during a weekend night. It would have done so much for the layout to expand the space where the customers stand. The bartenders have more room to move around. The food is typical. I think a more classy food approach would have gone well with the atmosphere. However, it still is a bowling alley, so it is kind of expected. Overall, if this place was in a different town, I think it would have been a fantastic place for a night out for activities. Don't expect much from the service, but the live music is worth a check, most of the time. The atmosphere is cosmic, with dim lighting. Stopped in for the third time to have breakfast, each time someone told me it's better now. Each time it's the same old thing. Ordered sausage links, sorry we're out of links, unfortunately the patty sausage is a precooked microwaved heat and serve item. Every time the eggs were overcooked, potatoes were greasy and they dabble Prep on the toast instead of using butter. Took about 20 minutes even though I was the only food order I saw while there. This was at 10:30 in the morning. As for the bartender, he's got a big rub of snuff tucked in his lower lip, real appetising. Mentioned it to the "cook"and she just shrugged and said "ya, he's been told about that". These three attempts at breakfast were over a period of about two years. Each time I gotta say disappointing. You know what they say, three strikes and your out. Don't see any point in trying again. Guess Ruthies diner is still the place for breakfast in Ligonier!! read more
