Following our visit to Kennedy Space Center, I wanted to stop by Tropic Ice Cream in Cocoa to continue visiting places serving Wisconsin Chocolate Shoppe ice cream. This store is small and nondescript, so much so that we passed right by it, and had to double back to find it! But we did, saw the Chocolate Shoppe sign out front, and came in ready for their ice cream. The owner was very friendly and welcoming, but...they no longer carried Chocolate Shoppe ice cream! He was having numerous middle man delivery issues and so had recently switched to Yoder's Southern Creamery from the Amish in Saratoga. We were disappointed to say the least. Fortunately Yoder's was up for the challenge - their ice cream was on a par with our beloved Chocolate Shoppe. I had the Triple Peanut Butter with Chocolate Fudge Brownie, my wife the Moose Tracks and a Gator flavor. All flavors were fantastic, rich and creamy! The ice cream is still great here, but they need to take out the Chocolate Shoppe signage that remained. read more

A very unassuming but very good ice cream joint... From the outside, and even inside, it's really just small and unassuming, but what's offered makes it special. The ice cream they offer has to be the creamiest of any ice cream I have ever had. The flavors are all unique, some of them named quite funny, and so far I haven't found one I dislike. On today's trip to the shop, I had my first ever version of their Blizzard, but with hard packed ice cream instead. What an experience - it was like eating a super thick, and I mean super thick shake - can't wait to try it again. Service is always friendly, very efficient, and so patient with questions and even wiling to jaw a bit. A great little ice cream joint, and I'm sure our little hamlet will be showing it love moving forward. read more

Super fresh waffle cones made in house. Over 30 flavors of Hersheys ice cream as well as soft serve pineapple and orange whip. Ice cream sundaes and tons of toppings. You can't go wrong here! I brought the family and for 7 of us it was 40 bucks, what a bargain! We found this place after doing some putt putt at Gator Golf across the street. We got to talking with the woman serving up the great treats and she was also the owner. So stop in and enjoy some great ice cream. read more

I stopped at this ice cream place on the way home from the beach. Outside of it, the sign says it offers 36 hand dip Hershey's flavors and 25 or more gluten free flavors which is amazing. It offers hard ice cream, soft serve, milkshakes, sundaes, ice cream floats, ice cream cakes and drinks. Each ice cream offering is labeled and describes the flavor. I got a small Cold-Brewed Caramocha in a cup after being happy to hear it was gluten free. It was delicious however I wish it was a little more ice cream in the cup for the size. The lady that served us was friendly and the inside of the ice cream shop is welcoming. It is also in a good location right off the road from Cocoa Beach. Again for disclaimer, rating on a Florida scale - a solid 4-stars for service, cost, and pretty good ice cream. Don't expect an LA artisan ice cream shop with the fancy flavors or LN2, because this is more like your basic Thrifty's ice cream, but better. They have moose tracks flavor here! I got a two-scooper on a waffle cone for an affordable $3.20 and she definitely did not skimp out on the scoops! The server was really friendly and patient as well, and allowed me to try some of the flavors before I finally decided. Good come selection. This place is in small strip mall next to a very solid pizza and pasta restaurant, where you can sit and eat on the patio/deck area. It's small but we ate outside there for both the pizza and the ice cream. Support a local place and you'll enjoy this ice cream place.
