I am very pleased with my experience in remotely purchasing a vehicle from Tropical that was shipped to me in Magnolia Texas. I located the vehicle on line and made an inquiry not really expecting any results. I received an immediate response from Ashley Donoghue. I was feeling very apprehensive about purchasing a 12-year-old Avalanche without seeing it firsthand but Ashley answered my questions very completely and professionally to ease my concerns. Then Tommy sent a very compressively narrated video of the truck that made me even more at ease. After a brief discussion we reached what I believed was a fair price and began the process of purchasing and shipping the vehicle. The whole process was very pleasant and efficient and in less than a week the vehicle is sitting in my garage in Magnolia Texas. I haven't had time to toughly inspect the vehicle but my initial opinion is very positive. Throughout the sales process, the salesperson, Thomas, repeatedly represented that the truck was approximately $16,000 and that the total cost would only be "a little more" with financing. At no point were we given a clear explanation of the total amount we would ultimately pay or how significantly the financing would increase the overall cost. The most concerning part of our experience happened when Thomas suggested that I be added as a co-signer. I was not present at the dealership. Instead of asking us to return together or arranging for me to sign properly, Thomas instructed my husband: "Sign for her." Trusting that the salesperson was following the correct procedure, my husband signed my name based on those instructions. When we carefully reviewed the paperwork afterward, we discovered that the total amount of the transaction was approximately $32,000 including the down payment, which was dramatically different from what we understood during the sales conversation. The following day I received a phone call from Thomas asking me to contact my manager so he could verify my employment. When I explained that I was willing to verify my employment through appropriate channels but was not comfortable involving my manager directly, the conversation became uncomfortable and I was told that our credit could be affected if I did not cooperate. Bought a 2016 malibu about 30 days ago the sales department were professional, but they started over sale this car. unknown to my knowledge a offer was given to pay off the early through a third party, a warrant that could not service the vehicle because of the mileage. Update!!! I had a very bad experience with Tropical Auto Sales, specifically dealing with the manager Tommy. I purchased a truck from them and almost immediately ran into serious problems that were never disclosed. About one hour into driving the truck after purchase, it threw a warning light. After further inspection, I found the truck is leaking oil and coolant, and the brake master cylinder is also leaking, which is a major safety issue. On top of that, the 4x4 does not work at all, even though it was sold to me as a working 4x4. I was also told the 5th wheel equipment would be included, which turned out to be false -- it was not there. When I raised these concerns, instead of taking responsibility, Tommy wanted me to drive the truck three hours to a random mechanic of his choosing to "try" to get it fixed, despite the truck already having multiple mechanical and safety issues. To make things worse, the salesman Sebastian completely ignored me when I texted him voicing my concerns. This is the same person who was texting and calling me every day to push the sale. Once the deal was done, communication stopped entirely. I eventually had to call his number, only to be hung up on. Charges a recondition fee (2,000) for it to be looked at by a mechanic and repaired, just to tell me it never went to one LMAO Not mad about the lies and truck stuck in my driveway pissing itself, mad at the fact he's telling me if it was him, he wouldn't go back to the dealership he bought the truck from.... he would take responsibility for the stuff he was lied to about. Overall, this dealership was dishonest about the condition of the vehicle and showed extremely poor customer service after the sale. I regret buying from Tropical Auto Sales and would not recommend them to anyone EVER!!! Looking the at reviews now I guess I'm not the only one. UPDATE Got the truck back from Dodge. The truck was tuned to ignore the EGR system (which, by the way, is illegal, a felony, to be exact) just to reveal that the truck has defective parts . A+ for transparency with your customers, Tommy and Sebastian. "Truck has no accident," which was proven to be a lie. The entire cab was hit on the driver-side front, shifting the whole cab to the left. "Running and driving, no issues" meanwhile it leaked all the oil and coolant on the first drive. Broken 4x4, and the list goes on, trust me: water pump, ball joints, the whole nine yards. "Truck comes with 5th-wheel package ready to tow" would be great if y'all hadn't actually removed the 5th-wheel package. (That part is on me for not fully checking, because I trusted you guys to be honest.) So not only did y'all hang up the phone when I called about the issues and ignore my texts, but Tommy hit me with the classic "you bought the truck, it's your problem" . He even reassured me the truck was perfect because it was owned by his mechanic friend... probably the same one who supposedly inspected it to justify a reconditioning fee. They charge a $3,000 "reconditioning" fee only to have their designated midas auto repair shop glance over major oil leaks and completely worn out brake pads. Ive had to spend over $3,000 just to repair everything that was wrong with the car when i bought it (rotors, suspension, engine mounts, timing cover leaks, you name it). These people are liars so if you're purchasing a car here get it inspected at a shop you already know and trust before you sign for it, there is most likely something thats going to be hidden from you and they do not repair everything thats wrong with the car like they had promised me. Imagine the car should take a 16-size tire, they put size 19-size. The worst thing is when the car was overheating because the coolant reservoir has been leaked, which they probably patched. Between 15-30 minutes, I put 3 gallons of coolant to drive 2 miles. I called them to see if they can get that checked out, but instead they hung on me because of I was frustrated about the situation. When I was trying to press on the issue, the supposedly RUDE ASS owner told me that it's my car now to get it fixed while they had sweet talks when during the purchase. So, I decided to stop by the to address the issue, but again the SHAMELESS OWNER did not want to hear me out, until I had to leave. I bought a Ford F-150 King ranch EcoBoost 2013 from this dealer, since day one that I purchased this vehicle it's been in the mechanic shop more times than I can count. I have literally paid over $8,000 in mechanic work that could have gone to paying off the truck. In fact, the day I drove the truck off the lot it turned off on me on I-95, the back up camera stopped working and so did the sunroof. I took the truck back and they had their mechanic fix it but it still gave me problems, the sunroof was never fixed and since then it's been one thing after another failing on the truck. Ok... Three months in - Here's the honest review: I would do business with this company again. Got a Great Deal on exactly the car I wanted.. Super Clean .. and in great shape. Registration was done in a timely manner.. and when it came back from the dealership, there was a actually a check enclosed for the overage.. which I knew about .. but hadn't thought about again until it arrived. So major thumbs up for the honesty. Problems: I was told that a minor issue with something on the vehicle would be replaced by the time I went to pick it up. It was not. I know what we agreed to, and 'just testing it and finding no problems' was not the agreement. Secondly.. I know for a fact that I did not get copies of all the paperwork I signed. I know this because I took photos of the most important ones and they were not included. (When this is your business... when this is "What you do", this can't be an oversight. So take that any way you like.) Overall, however.. I was Very pleased with the vehicle.. and the price was more than fair. I had a fabulous experience at Tropical Auto Sales buying my daughter's first car. It's hard to know where to start in describing all the things that General Manager Anthony Lauria and salesman Tommy (last name?) did right. First of all, it was no pressure -- just thoughtful, kind consideration of what would be the best for our daughter. Anthony, who's Italian, said he would treat us just like family, helping out our daughter as if she were his own daughter. And he did. We came in to look at a beautiful Subaru Legacy. Anthony and Tommy got the car ready for us to test drive, but Anthony first spent time talking to us about what our needs were and what we liked. He then suggested we might also want to consider the beautiful and very safe Mazda CX-5, a highly rated SUV. (I do all my research on Consumer Reports and Edmunds.com, and this vehicle is very highly rated.) My daughter drove both cars with Tommy -- he was a HOOT with all his joking and his iconic "Hee-HAW" laugh. She ended up falling in love with the Mazda, and that's what we bought. Anthony recommended -- but didn't pressure us -- that we buy a warranty for the vehicle to give us peace of mind in case something in the car breaks or we need roadside assistance, so we bought that as well. It seemed like such a good idea that I bought one for my new 2016 Toyota Camry hybrid as well! Anthony and Tommy are nice and funny -- I don't know when I've laughed so much. Our shopping experience was just wonderful. At the end of all the paperwork, we were trying to figure out when my husband could come up to help bring the car home (my daughter isn't getting her license until later this week). It looked like we wouldn't be able to pick up the car until Sunday or Monday. That is until Anthony and Tommy agreed to drive the Mazda home FOR US. A 20-minute drive out of their way (40 minutes round-trip). I love these guys!! P.S. Tommy even said that I could join into the dealership's "Biggest Loser" contest this spring... so this deal may also lead to my losing some extra pounds! read more

I am thrilled with this dealership. I had the pleasure of meeting Frank and Andy, who were the ones that helped me. I was looking to trade in my car and buy a Ford Focus ST, however, I had no idea how to drive a manual car. Andy was so gracious to put off leaving work on time and staying late to take me to a parking lot where I could learn to drive manual and Frank was the one who helped me put together numbers and seal the deal. Not only did they put a lot of time in while I was there but Frank took a call over the weekend just to make sure I got the information I needed before I bought the car. By the end of it I was not only excited about my new car but was ready to recommend tropical auto to anyone needing a car. I would not recommend purchasing from this dealer. I am not a car person, so I know little about cars which makes it is easy to take advantage of me. I purchased a car for myself from Tropical when my prior car died. I did not notice that the tires were nearly bald until I drove to Memphis to see my daughter and was skidding all over the place. When I called Tropical and said there was an issue with the tires not only being treadless but the threads under the rubber were actually exposed, they assured me the tires had met inspection requirements when I bought it. I would have thought I should be able to purchase a car and get more than 1000 miles on it before having to buy 4 new tires. Unfortunately, my son also purchased a car (VW) from Tropical before this issue arose. It has been a couple of years since it was purchased, and we have just found out that the ENGINE of the car is not the right engine and had been replaced before we purchased it. At the time of purchase, the carfax noted a couple of rear end fender benders, but said nothing about engine issues. When the "check engine" light went on within 5 minutes after purchasing the car, we returned to Tropical, they said there was a recall on the air injection system programming and had us take it to some repair shop. The repair shop reported that they had done the update, but there was a short in the light and it was still on and not sure why. Jump forward a year or so and a sensor in the engine needs to be replaced and a couple of service/electronics needed updating due to another recall. This time I took it to the VW dealer. They tell me the updates can't be done because it turns out the engine is not the original engine, and Tropical never bothered to disclose it. The ENGINE had been replaced!! (Wish I could remember the repair place because they obviously were not able to do the update either and lied to us on behalf of Tropical. Although they were not legally required to report the replacement engine in the car, the car was only a 2 year old used car when we bought it and it never occurred to me to directly ask whether the car had its original motor since carfax didn't note anything. I would like to think an honest and fair dealer would disclose something like that! My recommendation is that this dealership will not deal with you in an upfront, direct, and honest manner, rather they are only looking to make a buck at the expense of their customers. read more
