I didn't want anything fancy - frankly, I'd just been to Peru and Turks and Caicos and had indulged in some wildly expensive (to me!) spa services, but I didn't need all that for this. They quoted me $60 for 60 minutes. DONE. I came out of there battered and bruised, but it was what I wanted and what I needed. Fast forward 36 hours and I'm feeling so much better - no more neck or shoulder pain. The massage started with kneeding over a thin blanket, then that was eventually removed. Nicely warmed oils were added to my body (no particular smell) and finally, hot stones were rubbed over my back. Sigh. A few comments: Language can be a barrier - speak slowly and clearly. Tell the ladies what you want and need them to focus on and how long you'd like timewise. If I hadn't spoken up, I think they would've just done whatever your standard massage was. The ambiance is pretty basic, but I got a private room with a heated pad to lie down on. No fancy smelly essential oils here. The background music was not annoying. Speak up if you want a little more or a little less pressure. The lady who was giving me a massage asked me several times, so I appreciated that she checked in. For those curious and need to know - take off as much or as little as you feel comfortable with.

Half of the massage was done from on top of a sheet. I thought this was maybe due to covid protocols but the latter half was a regular massage. My masseuse didn't ask how the pressure was or say much throughout. We both wore masks throughout the entire process. The spa is located in a strip mall with plenty of parking. What I mean by that is this is not the Red Door Spa of the late 80s. However, the work that is done here is incredibly well done. They clearly make every attempt at ambience with spa music and keeping things mostly quiet or hushed, although I'm not going to deny that the rooms are "curtained" rooms (areas sectioned off by curtains). Nonetheless, there's perfect privacy within those. Can you hear other things happening around? Yes you can. But I have to tell you that that did not bother me one bit. If you're looking for some exclusive situation, they do apparently have private rooms. Whether or not they are soundproof, I cannot attest to. However, the work that was done while I was on that table was terrific! The woman who worked with me was Yo Yo and she was utterly fantastic. From the time that I arrived until I walked out the door--which Yo Yo opened and held open for me out of courtesy-- I was pampered. I was escorted to the back, given a robe/drape, given a few moments alone to undress from waist up as I was partaking in the 60 minute head spa. Yo-yo checked with me before coming back into the space and then assisted me (not that I really needed it) with getting on the table so that I was positioned correctly. She was gentle. She was smiling. She was quiet mostly, but did stop to ask questions (water temp, pressure of massage, etc.). She began her work, which started with a dry run through of the hair with various tools. If you've seen the videos on social media that keep popping up for head spa you have the general idea of what I mean when I say the tools that they use. I was there on that table for an hour. I had a mini facial. My head was massaged multiple times both dry and shampooed (twice). I had my neck massaged, my upper chest, my upper back and then all the way down my arms to my hands. It was wonderful. I have no complaints whatsoever. The products that were used were very light in their scent, but pleasant nonetheless and they were not greasy. The steam and whatever conditioner that is on my hair has made my hair so shiny and soft. I have processed hair. My hair has not been this soft since prior to bleaching/coloring. I cannot say enough good things about this experience. I expected sort of what I saw on the social media postings by various other "spas" and that's exactly what I got and more. Yo-yo met me out at the table where there was the hair dryer (and a snack and bottle of water) and blew out my hair a little bit. Was it styled? No. That's not what she's there to do. I walked out with dry hair. I don't have a problem with that. I kept a hat in the car and a clip to put it in an updo if it didn't look manageable. It looked fine. I was 100% satisfied. I didn't mind that--I figured, okay, her time is her time and my time is mine. But the loud conversations continued in the same space where people were actively receiving massages. It felt disruptive. Spa is what I call a makeshift budget spa. Not just the decor but the overall mood and feeling. Therapy rooms are located upstairs and downstairs and have curtains instead of doors. House fee is $60 which is surprising as most places like this you might pay $45 tops. Almost walked but when I saw Sunny, the decision to stay was automatic. No question about it. And, the massage was actually quite good. Sunny asked if I wanted to go upstairs or stay downstairs. My visit was on a hot summer day and we only walked 1/2 way up the stairs before the heat convinced me to stay downstairs. No AC upstairs. The room downstairs was adequate. Spartan but adequate. The massage was above average. Sunny has a pleasant disposition and asks for feedback on how she is doing. I've been back a few times.
