Now I have seen other reviews about the front desk but I had pretty great service from the front desk, every time I have gone. Always polite, attentive and helpful. I do pre check in, super easy and quick. I have had great services. I realize there is a uniform way to get your massage and facial but they also listen to your concerns and needs then tailor the service to that and personally I prefer that. The staff asks me my concerns, what areas I want to focus on and mold the service to fit what I want. I also saw a review that stated the therapist was quiet and could be friendlier...being quiet and reserved doesn't mean unfriendliness. It's not a yapping session. It's to go relax and address what you want out of your service. Personally I prefer the quiet. I had a facial by Karen and Lexi. Both different but both very good. My facial by Lexi was so good I literally fell asleep at some point and pretty sure I snored. Sorry girl. Sean was my massage therapist. He was thoughtful and listened to my focuses. I told him the areas and pressure I prefer and he did amazing! I am pretty sure I was zonked out about 30 minutes into that service too. I was scammed over $1000 by this franchise location. They have fraudulently charged my card $85.25/month every month since stopping my account with them - paused starting april 2025, cancelled before it unpaused in june 2025. Despite every attempt to get this stopped they are still charging me - the latest one just a few days ago following days after speaking with the front desk about the issue AGAIN. I spoke with a manager in March of 2025 to pause, then in june to fully cancel. I signed the cancellation form and thought we were done. In November I noticed I was somehow still being billed, and emailed them requesting it be addressed. With no reply it never popped back up and I figured we were good. Doing my taxes this month I discovered it was STILL being billed! This company has scammed me out of $1023 which it needs to REFUND, immediately, finally STOP charging me, and CANCEL my account! In March of 2026 I finally got corporate to call me. They told me they don't have the ability to refund, since it is a franchise location and I have to take it up with them. After multiple calls and emails they continue to refuse to respond. When I call I get front desk people who tell me a manager will contact me - they never do. I decided to get a massage (between my regular massage appointments) because my body really needed it. Things have been stressful and I recently started working out again. So, I feel a lot of tightness and I came to Hand and Stone to feel better. Silly me, I read online that got stones are good for tension and I thought that I'll get an upgrade for some extra help. When I got there I requested the upgrade and waited. My masseuse was actually a few minutes late getting me, didn't start the massage until 8:10 and my "hour massage" ended at 8:58...but that's not why I was dissatisfied. She asked me if I had a hot stone massage before and I told her I'd had one once several years ago. She asked me if I knew what to expect and I said yes. I then added that I chose hot stones because I started working out recently and I felt like that may be good for me. She said ok, gave me instructions and left the room so I could undress and get ready. The massage was good...relaxing but I still felt tight afterwards. And she realized that too because after the massage when she walked me back to the room she mentioned that I am really tight I should just get a regular massage next time. She said I really need to be worked on. Huh????? So, this is the problem that I have. Why wasn't there some sort of communication/education for me BEFORE the massage was over. If I'd known that what I was requesting wasn't a good idea for me at the time I would've changed up. If it was an issue I would've let them keep the upcharge. I just truly wanted to feel better. Made an appointment and wasn't told I was supposed to let them know 24 hours prior to my appointment that I couldn't make it. Planned on going to my appointment 24 hours before and that same day of my appointment I got called into work and called and let them know that I couldn't come in. Nobody answered so I left a message. Got called 2 hours later asking where I'm at and I said I called saying I couldn't make it. Then I got charged 85$ because I didn't give them a 24 hour notice which I was never aware of because they never told me that. This place is hit or miss. The first time I was here, my facial was amazing! I just got my second facial there and I was not impressed. My first visit was so relaxing and I felt like I got my money's worth with the variety of massages and lotions that they used on me. The second time around, there was very little massage and more emphasis on using a hot towel to wipe my face, over and over. I know you have to remove the lotion from the face, but it was excessive. Also, she decided to spend several minutes rubbing my legs and ankles. I was under blankets. It was odd. I think I will try other locations before I write off this company completely. My massage therapist was Tom, and I can't say enough good things about him! He listened to what I said about my back and the soreness I had. Then, instead of just giving me a general massage, he really focused on those problem areas. His technique was SO GOOD. I don't know what he did, but it felt amazing as he was doing it, and afterwards, my back seriously felt brand new. He was extremely thorough and asked me several questions about where I wanted him to focus. He even took the time to do various stretches on my legs and lower back, and it must have worked! Seriously do yourself a favor and check them out. If you ask for Tom, you won't be disappointed. It could use a diffuser at the reception area with a nice essential oil so when customers come in it smells good . I was very disappointed in my facial. It was supposed to be an hour long and it was about 40 minutes. I've had facials before and they usually massage your face and your neck. There was no massage, all she did was keep putting products on my face then using a hot towel to wipe them off. The reception Colleen, who is now said to be fired had an attitude from the moment my sister and I arrived. After me and my sisters massage we were suppose to get facials. We were NEVER informed that one of the facial specialist went home early sick. We came out after our massage for clarification from the receptionist and she immediately got defensive, lied and said she called us to inform us, neither of us received calls prior to our visit. We asked why weren't we informed when we checked in, her response was "because she didn't want to come in during our massage and tell us and she also didn't know one person would leave early sick". Her story made no sense at all because previously she said she called us prior to our appointment to tell us, yet didn't tell us when we checked in from the beginning. She proceed to yell at us and storm out. Saying how she's sick of these clients. She came out with her things saying she was going home. As my sister and I talked to the other receptionist, the receptionist Colleen, who was wrong, started screaming and yelling at both of us. She began to put her belongings down and approached me in my face yelling as if she wanted to fight simply because I stated how unprofessional this was, and how no matter what you have going on, at work things need to be kept professional. She continue to yell, the masssge therapist who did my massage and the other receptionist began to pull her and push her into the massage room door. The whole thing was very unprofessional, extremely uncalled for. I mean this is a place of business, there were other guests watching the whole thing take place at a place where people are coming to relax and relief stress, not add to it.
