Love love love love and love! I have never experienced a nail bar like this before! It's casual, quirky and just down right fun! The selection of colours available is insane...I am not over exaggerating when I say it took me about 20 minutes to decide on what colours to go for (which is shocking when you consider I chose a nude pink)! Luckily, I had an ice cold lilt ( Served in a coconut cup) to sip on while doing so! As for my gel nails, I am delighted and will let the photo speak for itself! The only thing that bugs me is that the gel takes forever to dry so I ended up with a smudge or two, but that's my own fault! After much hype I planned a day with my Mam for her mothers day present & she planned one for her Mam so we all went together. A mani-pedi combo for all of us. The pedicure was basic but since the decor & the girls were so nice we didnt care too much. It was only after leaving i noticed how bad the quality of my toe polish was (see pics). I asked for a french polish & could have done a better job myself. The line is not straight on any of my toes & it's particularly noticeable on my big toe since it's the biggest. Please note though, the pic is after a couple of days of wear, the chipping is my own doing, all I'm referring to is the smudged lines.They did my toes first, I sat barefoot while they did my hands & i even wore flip flops on the day so it's not the case that i could have smudged it myself. Having also been impressed by the nail art on their instagram & facebook my Mam & I asked for themed nails since we were both off to Vegas the next day! I asked for a feature nail with the ace of spades & my Mam asked for a royal flush (10, J, Q, K & A of hearts). My mam's looked great & mine did too but as the week wore on i realised it looked more like a claddagh than an ace of spades. I also noticed that dispite it being a shellac polish that the tips of my nails became very worn looking after just a few days. After paying our balance & leaving all 3 of us went for food & discussed our experience where my Nan told us she got a lovely hand and arm massage which is, in general, the standard for a manicure. But something that neither my mam & i received, despite having booked & paid for the same experience. My Nan suggested it was because of the time it was going to take for our nail art but considering we paid per nail for the nail art on top of the mani-pedi price that's not really good enough! Overall 5 stars for decor, 5 stars for the girls (they really were lovely), but as for the quality of the work was a little disappointing. Would i go back? Yes I would, but more because of the vibe in the place than anything else! The experience of the day was excellent. The girls were lovely helping us with the cocktails we brought in & getting excited with us for our holidays & it all added to it for us! read more

I've heard many good things about Tropical Popical and found out about it via Stellar Magazine so having been to many of the other nail salons in Dublin, I decided to try this one out. Out of all the other salons, Tropical Popical has by far the best decor and largest range of colours to choose from. I got a maxi pedicure which was quite nice and I really enjoyed it. The staff were very friendly, the salon was clean, and overall met my expectations of a great nail bar. It is also very affordable compared to a lot of places, and there's a loyalty card too, which is great! The only thing was that my appointment was delayed by about 15 mins, but I wasn't in a rush so I didn't really mind. I will definitely come back here for some nail art after seeing such pretty pictures from other reviewers and on their Facebook page. read more

I was meant to come here with a buddy of mine, but a flooding emergency meant I had to go alone. But Jenny was chatty and funny, it was still a great visit by myself with her. I had heard about this place from friends and put off going for too long so this past week I had to check it out. When you walk in you realise that this place is true to its name, Tropical Popical. Flamingos, bright colours and a backdrop of a beach which looks like it could be in Hawaii with palm trees. I felt like I was transported from Dublin on to an amazing sunny beach somewhere else in the world. Upon arrival we were given these delicious coconut drinks that we sipped on while being pampered. We showed up 45 minutes before they were set to close and as there were no appointments on the books we were taken right in. When I went to choose a colour, I was blown away at the selection and of course took forever to decide! The girls that work there are great, very professional and did a great job with my nails. My only criticism is I got my nails done on a Sunday and knowing that I was going to try to get them to last for a wedding on Friday, I have not picked up a dish, done anything strenuous in trying to keep the nails looking good. Two days into my manicure it chipped. Although it was only €13, you'd still like it to last a bit longer! Oh, did I mention only €13 for a basic manicure and €21 for a pedicure?! Amazing prices. A fun way to spend a couple of hours on a Friday. A group of us from work went along to get our nails done as a special Friday treat (what other reason do you need??). We were welcomed in, and asked to make ourselves comfy while the others arrived. In addition to the free lilt provided, we were allowed to bring a few snacks of our own to really make a party of it (and not rushed out as soon as we had our nails done) So enough about the food and drink - what about the nails? A large selection of colours and options, from normal manicure, to choice of hundreds of nail varnish and gelish colours (I opted for gelish). Nails were filed, buffed, then painted. Despite being a fairly large group we were all seen to fairly quickly (though not too fast, so we felt like we got our money's worth). End result looks pretty, and seems to last. Tropical popical is the worst place in Dublin to get Shellac/Gelish on your own nails. I was getting married and went here because of the reviews "big mistake". They maybe good for false nails but not for real nails. I had a mini Mani & Pedi my cuticles weren't cut back, there were little bubbles/ lumps on my nails they should have a smooth finish. I went to Tropical Popical last Saturday for a luxury spa pedicure. The only appointment my friend and I could get was at 5.30 on the Saturday evening but we went for it anyway because we were both dying to get pedicures after payday! Went in at 5.30. My 'luxury' spa pedicure was over by 5.50 and my friends by 6. I would have assumed from the name it would have been a 45 - 60 min treatment. It was obvious the girl doing my treatment just wanted to get out of work for the evening and she was indeed out the door before I had even left. She didn't buff my nails or do half the things the other girl did on my friends feet - not that her treatment was great either. She made a comment to the other beautician at the beginning that she hated the smell of the cream because it reminded her of work! It was a bad sign from the start! Such a disappointing experience. I understand it was late on a Saturday evening but if they couldn't put in the time then they shouldn't have taken the appointment. read more

But they were chatting between each other and i wasn't sure that she was shaping my nails the way I wanted it. Getting pampered while listening to the Britney Spears? Yes, please! It sounds silly, but this place really has the right environment and staff to help you escape reality for an hour or so. I went here a couple of weeks back to get gel nails on, mostly due to all the positive reviews here, but was left disappointed. The girl who did my nails was perfectly nice, but cut through one of my nails leaving it bleeding pretty heavily, so not an ideal start. Also despite my asking for thin natural looking extensions they were left fairly thick and not deeply enough blended into the nail bed, there was obvious regrowth in 2 days and I had to refile them myself once I got home. You definitely need to make an appointment here, as it gets very busy. You have to make your appointments through email. They respond really quickly to emails and are so nice. I love the feel of their space, so much fun decor. And Lilt in a coconut?! Love it! Their selection of services comes closest in quality & price to what I'm used to back in the US. They give you Lilt in a Coconut with a cocktail umbrella! I really don't think I need to tell you more. I went one Saturday afternoon, a little hungover I have to admit. The lilt sugar rush picked me up as the fun and relaxed atmosphere cheered me up. I chatted with my friend next to me and the whole row including the manicurists joined in. It felt more like a party than a beauty treatment. Afterwards we relaxed on a couch and finished our lilts as we waited for our nails to dry. Unfortunately we got a little carried away with the selfies and my friend smudged a nail. :/ No problem, the manicurist jumped to the rescue and fixed it in a instant. :) In future I'd have an idea of what I want before going. This is such a cute little place! I don't normally get my nails done, but was enticed here through a get together. I'm so glad I came! In a place where it rains and is cloudy more days than not, this is the place to go to at least pretend you're on holiday! Inside it's very bright, and fun. It's in such a great location too, being just off Grafton St. you could easily plan a girls day or night, get your nails done, then head to lunch or the wine bar just below. And, it is very to find, with the bright neon palm tree sign out front. The service was great, and they have a pretty good choice of nail polish. My nails look so pretty now!! While I was there I had a basic manicure (which only costs 13 euros!). My nails were rounded, cuticles trimmed, and nicely painted. If you're stuck for inspiration, they have an "inspiration board" near the check-in desk. I wish I had seen it before I had my nails done. It definitely gave me ideas for the next time I get my nails done, which will DEFINITELY be at this place! It is set up a little bit more casual than most nail salons I've been to, but I don't mind at all! I will be back for sure, and with many of my girlfriends! read more

This place was really overpriced and the service was quite minimal. Normally a basic pedicure, in every other salon in which I've received one, entails exfoliation, perhaps hot stones, definitely a massaging of the foot and calf, occasionally a wax wrap of the heel - it is not just sticking your feet in soapy water and tossing on some nail polish after. I could do that at home for next to nothing. As it was not a cheap stop, I expected much more from this salon. The inside is adorable and the staff was friendly, but the actual pedicure was atrocious. (They wrapped my toes and my friend's toes in plastic and sent us on our way. Her polish was wrecked when she returned home and mine chipped the next day). Quite a bummer - wish we had a better experience. Especially since this was a gift for my friend and her first experience having a pedicure! This is by far my favorite nail salon. Quirky, colorful interior and the outfits of the "Trop Pop-ettes" make you feel like you're in a Katy Perry video - nestled into the Throne-Like chairs, sipping on Lilt out of a coconut while you're getting your tootsies done. Staff is lovely and attentive and you never feel rushed - I've been to salons where they were just trying to get done with my Mani/Pedi as fast as possible and had the quality suffer as a result, but that's not the case here. Prices are MORE than reasonable - a Basic Manicure for €13, Basic Pedi for €21 and if you want to get both, you're looking at €30 - not bad at all! They also offer nail art, starting at €3 per nail and definitely recommended if you want to make your manicure stand out a little. They also do special Girls Nights, so if you're looking for a fun pampering day, make sure you get in touch with them! Context of visit: Nine-year-old birthday manicure treat. Result: Everything a nine-year-old could dream of in a bottle of nail paint, and more. A previous birthday had brought us to try out the nearby 5th Avenue, and while it was a good professional standard, the atmosphere was a tad austere and businesslike, when really what we were looking for was some standard-issue 'ooh it's your birthday what age are you really my you're big' fuss. Thank you Yelp for putting us in the way of Tropical Popical (or Popsicle as I've come to think of it) - it ticks all the fun and frothy boxes, from the Caribbean-effect décor that's lurid and bold as a panto parrot, to the fantastic staff who really know how to make a little girl feel special. Added extras (and the basic manicure is a fairly lean 13 euros to begin with) include a drink of Lilt - how quickly the words 'totally tropical taste' sprung to mind, so what else would you expect? (though who knew it still existed?) - or something else that's coconut-based whose name I can't recall but which kid number two went mad for. The Lilt was served in a little 'coconut-half' cup with all those jazzy extra bits, creating mood elevation beyond just the direct sugar hit (starry eyes, fixed immovable grin). And there was no staff deference to the parent on matters sugar-related, which came with its own high-inducing factor. So, yes, we were fairly flying before a hand had been introduced to as much as a cuticle-remover. Lovely manicures (if lovely is the appropriate word for glitter-on-neon), the girls took their time with us, and despite going for the 'mum you're an embarrassment' option of neutral myself (I'd say the first time that bottle had been opened in nail-fun central), no one outside of my children outwardly ostracised me - so good manners all round too. Light-hearted and fun, Tropical Popsicle (sic.) is to the nail-bar what the popsicle is to cereal - perfect for a treat. And if it was a sunny day outside you might even convince yourself, however briefly, that you're on your jollydays in a place where Pina Coladas flow and the ocean laps against white sands. There are few things in life that are more special or amazing than a Tropical Paradise and any sort of Neon bliss. Lucky this place has both them. Trop Pop, as it's called on occasion, is a new kid on the South William block and specializes in offering that North American quick and cheap mani/pedi service but with a tropical, kitschy, neon twist. Really great because paying an arm and a leg to maintain the extremities of those limbs is really not a winner. I'm not a huge nail polish wearer being a dude but I have had the 'Man Package' and it left my hands looking less rugged and extra soft. NICE! Kept meaning to check this place out as I LOVE getting my nails done and the more out there the better.. I don't do boring nails! Booked a maxi pedicure for my nana (84!) my mum and myself as a treat for my nanas birthday. The girl who done my mum and nanas pedicures were great, super chatty & friendly and really took care of my nana, as you have to climb up a few steps to bathe your feet. There are loads of colours to chose from, I opted for pink and sparkles.. A girl needs sparkles! The atmosphere is very relaxed, and basic. The pedicure, for €40 and an extra €5 for the sparkles on my big toes only was a little pricey. When I asked for the top pedicure I expect a good scrub and my feet to feel brand new again, unfortunately I didn't get that feeling,. The pedicure was nice and relaxing and love my toes and both my mum and nana love theirs too but we all felt it was over priced for the treatment we received. I had never had my nails done before TP. I guess I am not much into my nails. However Brazilian girls are and I am heading there in a few days and though I should make an effort. Tropical Popical with a friend seemed like the best setting for a first gellish manicure and I was right. The girls are lovely, the price is right, the place looks great. We were sitting beside each other so we kept chatting while drinking our water (thanks to a straw, smart). The fidelity card is a nice bonus (the check-in offer too) and it will keep me coming back - I get addicted to beauty treatments.
