Not a great experience. Me and my friend went there together. It was dark and cramped in the building and we could barely see the colours of the nail polish we were choosing. My manicurist was nice, but my friend's was inpatient and annoyed. My biggest issue was that the tools they used were not sterile! They used the tools on my hand and then sprayed them carelessly with a bit of mystery spray, not even covering the whole tool. Then they put it back in the tool bag, seemingly to be used for another person. Nail salons should be properly sterilizing their non-disposable tools to prevent infection. My nails do look nice, but I do not recommend going to this nail salon. read more

This is the second location for 5th Avenue Nails which started out in Cork Speaking of two, Star #2 for two levels with the best massage pedicure chairs in town downstairs.This is great if you don't want the world to see your feet/watch your pedicure. Me likey. Star Three: Jobs, jobs, jobs. As in they do an awesome one with great colour choices, including shellac. The Fourth star is for fair pricing, given level of service and there's a nice menu of options, so you can nail down what you want. And 5th, the place has a nice, neutral decor that would be at home anywhere including the real 5th Avenue in New York City. No pink here. Men will feel welcome. I've been to many a nail salon in Dublin in search for the best quality manicures in town and from all my experiences I've settled on 5th avenue as the place to go. And by settled, I don't mean settling in quality! They have a wide array of different polishes and colours and I've never had a bad manicure done there, whether 'normal' polish or shellac, regardless of who was doing my nails on the day. The price is not the cheapest in town but also not the most expensive and if you want quality I think it's to be expected to pay at least mid range price, so I think for the high quality you get, the price is fair. The place is always busy so it is recommended to book ahead, I wouldn't chance just walking in - I've done it on occasion but would recommend booking ahead if you can. I also get my waxing done here so it's like a one stop shop and always happy with those results too. Because it is quite busy I'd say it's not the place if you want to have a relaxing pampering, but for someone like me who is often rushing from one place to the next I actually like that they are pretty fast. That's never happened to me. And I'm not sure why it was so thin even though there were several layers? Like, did I use the wrong product?? The results are just like I got regular nail polish. It's been a week and 5 of my nails have chipped and then broke. I'm sad because I went from super-strong nails that had grown out for 3 weeks with zero chips to this. I really regret it. Oh, and it was funny but they were really confused when I paid, giving an extra few euro for a tip, she couldn't do the math I guess, she was trying to give me 10 euro back. What I really like about this place is that the appointment booking is so handy. You can go to their website and answer the preferable date and time. They will immediately get in touch with you via email. You are welcome to make calls, but if you are a shy person like I am who prefers booking online or email correspondence in general, this option relieves your stress of making a reservation. I booked lemongrass treatment which includes a little bit of massage and scrub on both hands and feet. I could not get the staff's name who looked after my hands, nails, and feet. However, she was perfect because she not only made my nails look good, but also she knew when to be chatty with me and when to just leave me alone reading over some magazines. Some people may get annoyed by talkative manicurist but she was not. She exactly knew when to start a conversation and when to let me be quiet and relax. My experience there was great. The nail technician was very friendly and did an amazing job however try acrylics didn't last as long as I'm used to. First pic is the day after I got them done. The second is a week and halfish out. I'm use to getting filled two weeks without any lifting. I made an appointment online and it quoted me at 95. At time of check out it was 115. I booked online without knowing the place. Anyway it's a busy place, and you are sitting very tight with the other costumers. I was serviced by Sandra, who was very nice and professional. I had the lux manicure with Essie Couture - which is suppose to dry faster and last longer... Well I don't know what went wrong. I waited the time I was told, but still it was like it "never" really dried completely, which means the polish got scratches many hours later... I do use Essie Couture at home... some I am not sure, what went wrong? I was so excited when this place opened so decided to check them out one day. On a cold and rainy day a couple of months ago, my friend and I spontaneously decided to get a Pedicure. Despite being walk-ins, they were able to accomodate us quite quickly. So far, so good! However, once we were taken to the pedicure room downstairs, we were quite disappointed. The two ladies who did our pedicures were neither very friendly nor did they even introduce themselves to us. I don't want to be best friends but I would expect them to at least greet me hello? Instead, they just told us to sit down. Once we had sat down we asked whether they had disposable flip flops or quick-drying spray, and they were completely surprised that we hadn't brought flip flops. It's a cold and rainy day and I'm a walk-in customer - do you REALLY expect me to carry around a pair of flip-flops in my (tiny) handbag? One of the girls let out a fairly annoyed sigh when we asked her whether they could check if they had any spare flip flops left. Long story short, they only had one pair, which resulted in me having to run around in the city in said flip flops after having gotten my pedi, trying to find a store selling - you guessed it - flip flops so my friend wouldn't have her manicure ruined. No luck, even after 20 minutes of asking around, so I had to return empty-handed. They didn't have any quick-dry spray (which is highly unusual for a nail salon) and so we ended up having to sit around the salon for a good 30 minutes after our pedicure was done. After that time, we decided to risk ruining the pedicure because we didn't want to spend any more time there. While they did a good job at the Pedicure itself, I really do think their service leaves a lot to be desired. If you don't have flip flops and the customer doesn't have any - at the very least they could have sent someone to buy quick-drying spray or come up with another solution. Also - the people working for your salon are your PR. If they can't even manage to do a little bit of chit chat, you might want to consider training them in customer service. Won't be back - the lack of service and not-so-friendly staff doesn't give me any incentive to do so. read more

Prices have increased by 20% in one go in the space of 3 weeks between appointments, I will not be back! The service you get is always inconsistent as you rarely get the same person twice, some of the staff have poor English and I have had a couple who have been very rude and have no interest in what I actually wanted but kept trying to push their opinion on me. The last time I was there I was left waiting 20 minutes but on the one occasion I was 3 minutes late they called me to find out was I coming. Went here for a full leg wax. The girl that was doing it was nice and chatty. The whole wax was rather painless and I was pleasently surprised. The upper leg is perfectly fine and smooth, however, the most of my lower legs was left with a lot of stray hair, so I'll have to wax / shave at home now. The hairs were about 4mm long but sure that should be enough? It wasn't too clean either so if you're a freak for those things, you won't like it. I didn't mind, but I wouldn't go back here because of the stray hairs on the lower leg. The girl tried getting a few remaining patches at the end, but there was still quite a bit left. The receptionist gave me a very weird look and a rolleye when I asked if I could buy shellac base coat (as I have a lamp at home and do shellac myself) - not cool! read more

When I rang to book my pedicure, I was told I got the last appointment of the day so I should be on time as they close at 6pm Sundays. Fair enough if a little blunt. The girl who looked after me (Susan) was lovely. My feet were soaked, scrubbed and massaged, nails clipped and hard skin removed. She didn't mind me laughing when she worked on the bottom of my feet, I'm awfully ticklish which can be awkward with some people. The colour was applied carefully and with precision and I'm very happy with the outcome. I took off 1 point for the colour selection. I've been here a couple of times, twice I got the eyebrow wax and one I got the "Girl in The City" manicure. Both times I was really happy with the results-- the eyebrow wax in particular is really well done and they really take the time to make sure the shape is just right for your face. The place is always jam packed so it's important to make an appointment at least early the day of if not a few days before. There are probably more than 15 therapists working the nail bar at any one time; they don't chat much but it's quite comfortable and relaxing to just sit and be pampered. The treatments are quick but it doesn't feel like you're being rushed. This was the first manicure I ever got-- I have pretty good nails and I've always been into looking after them myself-- but I wanted to see how the professionals would do it so I could learn a few new tricks. I loved the cuticle cutter-- had a really nice result and made my nails look so much more even. Definitely going to find one and try for myself-- although I might leave it to the professionals, for fear of amputating my fingers!! There's a decent colour choice, the standard paint is Essie and then you can choose to pay 5 euro more for either a long-lasting quick-drying polish or for a french manicure. The pricing is very reasonable and it's always very tempting to load up on different treatments every time you go there. My manicure had such a nice finish and my nails were perfectly shaped. The polish lasted probably 5 or 6 days without chipping-- far longer than I've ever managed myself! Worth a try-- just make sure you get an appointment. I would give a five star for the waxing treatment, and if I could, I'd give a 4.5 for the rest, but only because it doesn't quite have that luxury spa feel. read more

I came here again to try a facial since I found the prices much more reasonable than other Dublin beauty salons which charge about 80-100 euro, while 5th Avenue's prices are about 75 euro for a 75 minute Yon Ka facial, 35 for a mini facial (30 mins), and 95 for microdermabrasion. The beauty therapist was really friendly and professional, gave lots of helpful advice and did my facial really nicely. Yon Ka products can smell a bit funny but I found my skin felt so much better afterwards. My one star deduction is that it's not the spa-like atmosphere (with a heated blanket!) you may experience in the other more expensive salons. It's in a small room at the back of the salon, and you get a fluffy little blanket but I still found the room a tad cold but bearable. Otherwise, the treatment itself was really good despite lack of cosy spa atmosphere. read more

A friend bought me a voucher for here which I used this week. I was really happy with the quality of the shellac manicure and my mini pedi. I've seen some previous reviewers post about not liking that the therapists don't chat to you but that is bliss to me. I'm perfectly happy if I'm never asked again by someone I don't know where I'm going on my holidays. Very reasonably priced too. I got the 2 treatments for €50. The place is pretty busy and I didn't really like the downstairs area as it's got no windows or airflow which isn't great with all the nail painting going on. read more

My biggest concern is that all the women that work there use what looks like their own nail tools as each one carries around their own cosmetic bags with their supplies that they continue to reuse on everyone. While I did watch my women spray her tools with rubbing alcohol, she proceeded to place the tools back into her cometic bag. My boyfriend bought me a voucher for here for Xmas so I went for a my first ever pedicure not really knowing what to expect from A the pedicure and B the salon itself. I walked in a little early so the receptionist asked me to take a seat - what a busy place!! I couldn't believe the amount of people passing through while I was waiting in the reception area. This must be a good sign! While sitting there a girl walked in and gave her name for her appointment. After spending ages looking at the book the staff came to the conclusion that they couldn't find her appointment. The customer even said: 'Even if you could just do my nails...' I felt a bit awkward for her because they just left her standing there. Eventually the receptionist said to follow the member of staff who would do her nails. After about 5 mins, the customer walked back to reception complaining that she was treated very badly and that the attitude of the nail technician was appalling as she seemed to be very rude. She said it wasn't good enough as she is a loyal customer and left. After watching all this, I felt I wanted to run after the girl and tell her that she was treated in an extremely rude way... but I didn't because I had already handed over my voucher... Tried to forget about it as I didn't want to start off on a wrong foot. I was called for the pedicure and picked a lovely pink colour. Went downstairs and got pointed to a chair. Chairs were lovely and comfy with a massager in the back. I felt a bit awkward because I wasn't sure what to do. There was a foot bath bubbling away... do I put my feet in already...?? The girl did not introduce herself, nor did she even seem to have any English. To be honest I don't expect / am waiting for a full blown conversation when having treatments done but the total silence just made it all a little strange.. All the other chairs were occupied and it seemed everyone was in the same boat... You could cut the tension with a knife. It seemed very factory-ish with no atmosphere at all. Staff were speaking in a foreign language to one another which I presumed was Polish which I think should not be allowed infront of customers.. but I suppose that's just my point of view. Result of the pedicure was lovely - couldn't fault it. I do not have anything else really to compare it to. If you need the job to be done and it suits you location wise (city centre) then perfect. I brought my 12 year old niece for a special treat. I booked a Lux mini-manicure and a mini-pedicure for her - each of which are advertised to last 1/2 hour. She was done in less than 20 minutes and shuttled upstairs to make room for the next client. I was extremely disappointed for my niece and feel that I paid for a product/service that my niece did not get. Additionally, I noticed that hygiene wasn't high on the list of priorities. I actually was seated next to the steriliser and it had only a couple of tools in it even though they were churning out customers as if it were a meat factory. I could see that all of the nail technicians were taking out tools from what looked like their personal make-up bags. My nail technician even used isopropyl alcohol to wipe down the tools used to push back and clip cuticles. After I saw that, I asked her not to cut them. Poor hygiene in a nail salon (or any salon for that matter) is an absolute no-no. I wonder how many clients have left and soon after developed a nasty skin infection? Will I go back? No. Would I recommend it? Absolutely not. read more

It had been through a tough week for me personally and I decided to get my nails done at a new place to try it out and give me a boost. I arrived for my appointment at 4.25. My appointment was for 4.30 and I did not want to be late so I assumed 5 minutes would be time enough. For some reason this was seen as a negative by the girl at reception and I was scolded for being early and asked to wait. I can't understand how being 5 minutes early resulted in a rude response from the receptionist but given what followed I feel this may be common practice in this establishment. At 4.35 pm I met my nail artist and she asked me what I had on my nails. I said it was not shellac or gel, but that it was a 2 week nail polish that stays on longer. She stated I should have mentioned when booking that I had nails to take off as it takes 10 - 15 minutes on top of my 45 minute manicure and will cost me 10 euro extra and she did not have time for this. I'd like to point out that this was done in a very blunt and rude manner. I understand the need for clarity but surely this does not grant a staff member permission to be obnoxious to a paying customer before they have even started the process? She left me and proceeded to go to reception to check if she could fit me in for my 45 minute appointment and told me to sit down and wait. She came back and sat down and said nothing to me. I had to ask if she could fit me in. She said she had no choice, which were her words not mine, and began to berate me again for not informing the staff in advance that I had polish on, and that I was taking up her time and she had another client after me. I said that I understood this and that I was a new customer and had never been there before so I had no idea, but I would do so in future. This went on for the duration of the appointment. I sat there while she continued to scold me for my wrong doings like I was a bold child. It got to a point where I had to ask her to stop as she was actually upsetting me. Her attitude was very intimidating and I have never experienced such negativity in any customer situation in my life. I tried to make small talk after this point saying "its very busy here" highlighting something positive about the store, as people kept walking in and out and she stated "yes so you see why every minute counts for me" in a horrible tone. I felt like I had come in to this persons workplace and completely ruined her day. And she was not short of highlighting this. It had now gotten to a point where I was ready to walk out. This woman upset me to a point where I felt bullied. They had a chip on their shoulders that day and let loose on me. In the end, ironically, the appointment took 35 minutes. I was meant to have a 45 minute manicure plus the time to take of my nail varnish. This 35 minutes in total was including the removal part. I was still informed that I had to pay extra for the removal and was sent on my way as just another nameless, faceless passer by. I by no means wanted to become best friends with my nail artist, but she certainly wanted to make me feel very badly. I was so shaken leaving the store that it left me seething. No one deserves to be treated like this, under any circumstances, especially over something so menial and tedious that amounted to absolutely nothing in the end for the nail artist. She was completely out of order. I would like to express also that as a new customer, I had no idea about any policy to inform the receptionist/booking agent that I had nail varnish on beforehand. I had not seen any warning of this on their website when making the booking. In fact, I have since looked at the website and there is absolutely no message anywhere that says I should have informed the salon before coming in. Considering the lecture I was given by the salon I think they should have this stated on their website before giving out to excited new clients. The name Fifth Avenue, in the New York sense, epitomizes prestige, luxury and class. Nothing could have been further from the above, from what I experienced. This is not the place to go to feel at ease, relaxed, pampered etc. If I could give no stars at all I would. After seeing other people's review on this place I really hope they change their attitude and treat clients better. I wish I had known all of this before stepping foot inside this salon. read more

I got a Hollywood wax here, for the first time this summer so understandably it was going to be pretty painful. It was however the most painful experience I've ever had the misfortune to experience. To start it took 45 minutes and for the whole time I felt extremely uncomfortable. It also wasn't very clean and the girl used the same spatula for the entire wax. I'm left with a few sparse hairs that I will have to clean up myself later. The one thing I would say is that the girl waxing me was one of the nicest people I've ever met and I would give her 5 stars for customer service. I wouldn't go back here though. read more

It was meant to include a hand massage/ moisturise which lasted 20 seconds! She clearly was rushing to get out even though I had made an appointment. I went for a french polish and it lasted as long as shellac would. I still had chip-free nails after two weeks. The girl who did my nails was called Olga, she was amazing I have had loads of manicures before but I have never seen attention to detail like this! The girls that work here are awesome, they do a professional job and are relatively friendly. The women on reception - are straight up rude, disrespectful and condescending, to the degree that it's laughable. They treat the girls like slaves, so much so that it makes me feel uncomfortable. They also don't bother responding to emails and seem happy when they can't fit you in! I guess they just don't need anymore clientele, as the place is always packed. I've been to 5th avenue twice and my experience was mediocre both times, my friend goes there fro the shellac and she is very happy, so I decided to try a pedicure. The first time I had a pedicure with a girl that seemed extremely annoyed and she barely spoke to me, even more annoyed when she realised I didn't have my flip flops with me, but nobody told me to bring them at the time of the booking! So I have to say I felt pretty uncomfortable with the all situation but at the end the pedicure itself was really well done. The second time I was treated by another girl, a bit more friendly, but then the pedi wasn't great, the skin on my feet was still rough at the back, not a very deep job. And not to talk about the manicure. Very disappointed with my french. Very very. The girl made a huge bright white line on my nails that are pretty short, and when asked to thinner it she wasn't really happy. The result is very "tacky" looking, I don't think I'll go back again. I only started growing my nails 5months ago and so had only been to one other place to get my nails done which was Tropical Popical on South Williams St which was great!!! But I wanted to shop around and try out sum new places!! I was really disappointed with 5th Ave nails to be honest, I wasn't going to say anything about the service or treatment initially but I got my nails done on Thursday the 28th March, shellac 3 week manicure & yesterday Saturday the 30th March the polish on my left thumb & left forefinger has cracked away and fallen off so I'm now left with big chunks out of my manicure, it looks terrible!! And shouldn't happen two days after gettin it done!! The receptionist was far from friendly or charming & barely raised a smile or a thank you!! she kept leaving so there was no1 to answer the phone so it just rang and rang which was a tad annoying!! When I was in there getting it done, they firstly didn't have the colour I wanted which is understandable places run out. But when she was doing the base layer, she was really rushing as another techniqion needed to use the polish as she was also doin a three wk manicure so she kept hovering over askin when she was goin to be done. The base layer is so light u can see my nail underneath and the white tips r so small u can see my own white tips underneath as my nails are long!! When she did the coconut scrub and I had to wash my hands, the water was scalding hot, I yelped wen I put my hand under as I wasn't expecting that & asked cud she turn it down, my hands were all red wen I sat down :( I'm just really disappointed overall with the whole experience, as its a more expensive place so you expect a higher quality of service but it was the complete opposite!! I won't go again myself, I wouldn't recommend them either to friends but my experience could just be one in a few but because it was my first with them, I have nothing but bad experiences. read more

I am really laid back but this place is a joke... Had a facial done here and the girl was so heavy handed I felt totally uncomfortable for the hour. I said it to her early on but little changed. To be fair I don't think she knew how else to perform her facials. After the facial I asked to use the toilets where I had to ask other workers to leave, it is a shared changing area for them, and this was most awkward, then to boot a dirty toilet with no paper. If I was in a poor country paying a fifth of the price I would excuse the service I received but this place has high enough prices so it didn't work for me. read more

Ingrown toenail after each pedicure (happened twice now). I've been going here a while, and never had any problem with either gels, arcrylic manicures, or pedicures. Lately though, I've had 2 pedi's here, and because a section of toenail was left under the skin on my toe, it became ingrown, and I had to visit a Foot Clinic to have it removed. The Doctor removed a large traiangular section of toenail which had been left there, I could barely put weight on it for 2 weeks beforehand! Went back for a pedicure 2 weeks later and the same thing happened on the other foot. This time a spike of nail was left in situ, which became ingrown, and surrounded with pus, and extremely painful to walk on. Again, I had to visit the Foot Clinic to have it treated. The girl who did my pedi the 2nd time was extremely nice, but did not listen to my requests to be gentle or careful, given what happened last time. She also filed way too aggressively, so much so that my foot was burning, and I had to repeatedly ask her to stop. ?? Please listen to the customers! They know their feet better than anyone! I won't be getting pedicures here any more, but manicures usually work out ok, if a bit pricey. read more
