The service and the people are very nice The food on the other hand could have been a lot better the jerk chicken needs more flavor and is very dry

Stopped in one day for lunch. Grabbed the large oxtail rice peas and cabbage plate with a beef patty . It was fantastic. Everything was hot and delicious. Did forget the coco bread but it's all good. I'll be back. It's a little pricey for the large combo but that's to be expected either way oxtail.

I ordered a large oxtail stew with with rice & peas and steamed cabbage. The oxtail stew was delicious. It was on the sweet side, full of flavor and it melted in my mouth. The packaging was great and the portion size was good. The only draw backs were: The lack of gravy. There were no peas in my rice. The steward cabbage was bland. If the sides were up to par, I would definitely have left a four star review!

Price: too expensive for a size small (it's $17-$18) I got the oxtails, rice/peas, & mac&cheese. Pricing used to be around $10-$13 for this size & meat. Mac & cheese: lacked flavor and salt, not enough cheese for the Mac. Oxtails: barely any meat on them, which is why the $17-$18 price is not justified. Rice/peas: seasoned well, great portion size Overall, price is not justified here. Portion size for the price does not make sense. Of the 5 pieces of oxtails (2) had full oxtail meat on them.

After hearing about this being located in the same plaza as Stein & Vine, but towards the south end, I decided to check it out. The restaurant has a basic layout with more of a takeout vibe and a few tables and chairs for seating. I've had the oxtail and jerk chicken meals which were OK. Their chicken soup (on the days that they make it) is very good and so was their red peas soup. My favorite things to get from this restaurant mostly are their homemade drinks. Specifically their ginger beer and sorrel as my favorites.

Regular size order of oxtail with rice & peas and cabbage

I have to say that I'm very happy to have this Caribbean restaurant so close to home. I've passed by it many times when going to the post office. This time I decided to stop. At first, I thought they were closed. I pulled on the door handle and it didn't open very easily for me. You just have to pull harder to open it because the door sticks for some reason. Maybe I was too gentle. Anyway, the food smelled wonderful upon entering. There are also refrigerated drinks and natural juices to the right along the wall. The juices are priced differently depending on what you get so you may want to make your choice before ordering the food. They had all different kinds of juices. Some are very unique such as Irish Moss and Ginger Beer which both have a combination of various ingredients (all on the label). All the juices are lightly sweetened. I would go back just for the juice alone. It was really wonderful! So far my favorite is the guava pineapple, but the pineapple ginger was really good too. I went ahead and placed a regular size order of the oxtail in brown sauce with rice and peas and cabbage. I noticed like other reviewers that the person taking my order immediately went over to the sink to wash her hands before preparing my meal. I love that! It makes me feel very comfortable. It was ready within 10 minutes of ordering it. Everything I received was hot. It stayed hot for a while. The oxtail was very meaty and tender. The brown sauce wasn't as flavorful as other places, but I was super happy with the portion and side items as well. I went back the next day to try the jerk pork with cabbage and sweet plantains. The pork was so full of flavor. I typically don't like jerk seasoning but this one was really good, and maybe because I also got the Tropical Rhythm Island sauce on top. It added a sweet pepper flavor that really went well with the jerk seasoning. But hey, I do like sweet and savory so try it and decide for yourself. I also wished that I had more of the sweet plantains. These were so sweet and delicious. Just the way they should be. I'll be going back for many more visits. It was very comforting food (even the cabbage). Oh, and that juice really hit the spot. I want to try the tamarind and maybe something with passion fruit next time. I also saw sour sop (guanabana) and vegetable juices as well.

9 bucks for the small. A little steep for the amount of food you get. I was surprised! I ordered the jerked chicken meal which consisted of the chicken (drumstick and thigh...not big at all) cabbage and Mac n cheese. The Mac n cheese was surprisingly good. The cabbage was average, but the jerked chicken was way too sweet. No real jerk taste at all. I was a little let down by that. Might be the only time I try this place. I'll leave some pics below.

I'm no ox-tail aficionado , I've actually been pescatarian for 5years and just tried beef for the first time. I enjoyed it. Something was spicy though don't know if that's normal - tasted great to me Will say it was a little expensive but a lot of food so worth it.

Listen! I haven't had jerk pork this delicious since I lived in Miami! It's the truth! Customer service needs improvement.

If I could give ZERO stars, I would. After 2 years I thought I would revisit this place. TRASH! Not fit for human consumption. Dry rice, dry, tough over cooked meat and although I can't be believe it possible, customer service was even worse than the last time. Please, save your coins. I could kick my own ass for wasting my time and money with this tragic place.

Edit: after repeat visits over the last several months I have to update my rating. The food portions have shrunk and the taste is not what it was. The friendliness is also still lacking. Unfortunately this is no longer a weekly go to place for us. Flavaz Jamaican Grill on 301 is a better option in the area.

They sell pastries, desserts, breads, sandwiches, and more. It's great that they are close to home. I absolutely love their guava & cheese quesitos. They are so delicious! I'm not usually a fan of this combination, but I love this particular version. Maybe because the cheese filling is sweeter. They also have strawberry and pineapple turnovers. I've only had the pineapple which I haven't seen in this area. It was great! The guava pastries are also a winner. I'd go back many more times just for these items alone. The mallorca wasn't my favorite. It's good, but it's more of a bread consistency than a sweet roll. The cheese and guava on top was very good. It was just too dense in my opinion. But hey, what do I know? I'm just a Puerto Rican gringa whose parents were born on the island. I'm guessing there are two different versions. The version that I know (and my mother loved) is the softer one that is more like a sweet roll. I've also had better ham & cheese mallorca sandwiches. However, I will try their other sandwiches and fritter appetizers for lunch one day. Other than that, everything else I've tried was wonderful. I love that the turnover and pastries are flaky and full of flavor, unlike some other bakeries. They are perfect! I do want to try the donuts and tornillos. I also want to try the breads. There will definitely be more visits, and very soon.

Mehhh!!! Considering that home (Southern California) has plenty of good Caribbean/Jamaican food…read moreplaces to choose from, this place did not hit! My honey found this place online while visiting Tampa. Eight of us got there to find out it is take-out only. How disappointing! We walked into the small hole in the wall, only to be treated like 2nd class citizens by the guy taking orders. He was NOT friendly at all! No greeting, no explanation of menu items, nothing. We should've taken that as a clue and bounced. As for food, plates are plentiful. My curry chicken was tender with lots of gravy. I wished it had potatoes and carrots as I like at home so that sucked. Rice and peas were soft. Cabbage was well seasoned, but the portion was small. When I asked the guy what side options I could choose from, he told me the plate included macaroni and cheese (super nasty attitude). After that unpleasantry, they had the audacity to leave the mac & cheese off of my plate. Additional cabbage would've been nice, at least! Others enjoyed the oxtails, jerk chicken, and wings. Everyone's mac & cheese looked stale and hard and all of them said it was awful. The plates included cornbread which I do not eat. Another bummer: no plantain or festival bread, my 2 fav's. I don't know what time of Jamaican food is in Tampa, but it is hands down subpar compared to what I'm used to at home. This place also needs a full gut job b:c it looks like the health dept will shut it down at any moment. lol
