I went for the first in many years and not for any specific reason just hadn't been. I had not been too the current location on Fowler after they moved from across the street. Talking about it at work made me want to go, so we stopped by today around 5p and placed our order. The cashier was pleasant and helpful even when the kitchen messed up the order. I had the ticket so I know she took the order correctly but they left off the chicken and shrimp in his Alfredo rasta pasta and the cabbage for my jerk chicken. It already took like 30mins and getting those things made us have to wait at least 15mins more since they had to cook the meat for the pasta. The food was decent like I remember it just took so long to get it the excitement to try it again was diminished. We got it to go so we didn't experience dining in but there was a couple of parties that were really large coming in so I was ok with not eating there.

New location Huge! Looks like live band and karaoke Take out window and such nice service. I ordered Togo, huge rice and peas, okra and such fork tender flavorful beef. They still have the buffet, which always hits at lunch. Tampa classic I wish I remembered the name of the Jamaican restaurant on Busch... that was extra delicious too I also wondered why new channel 8 was there yesterday- prayers to Jamaica over the next few weeks and months as they emerge after hurricane Melissa hit yesterday

This is my second time eating here and I can say that I'm truly satisfied with the food I received. I've only tried the oxtails and they are nicely seasoned and fall off the bone. The rice and peas are cooked to perfection and so is the cabbage. One of best patties I've had out here in Florida. The crust is seasoned to perfection, super flaky and meat is so tender. The mild heat is Perfect but I look forward in trying the spicy. My friend enjoys the curry chicken platter always. It's his favorite meal that this place makes. They always get a large and according to him, some of the best curry chicken he's had in Florida as well. I look forward to coming back and experiencing the restaurant ambiance and in person experience. I've tried the takeout and it's met my expectations. Can't wait to be back!

The flavor, the spices & the comfort. The jerk chicken meal was a warm hug in a dish. There was an ongoing buffet which also had a plethora of options Plenty of seating with a nice vibe. And the service was great. Felt like a bring family restaurant.

I've been eating at Jerk Hut since I was a young college student. So 20 years later my kids eat it now too. A family tradition! Def a Tampa staple! My favorite meal is the jerk chicken and of course I have to get a beef pattie to go along with that. Their menu ranges from appetizers, soups, salads to your favorite Caribbean meals. The owner Mr. Andrew is a gem! He's always giving back to the community and is always looking for ways to support. There is a large dining area and there is room for outdoor seating. The Jerk Hut is known for throwing dance parties so follow them on social so you can stay up to date on what's happening. My family loves coming here especially for their lunch or dinner buffet. It's a great way to try different options without being tied to one meal.

We celebrated my mom's birthday during their Sunday brunch which was a wonderful experience. They had live reggae music, a delicious buffet of Jamaican food featuring jerk chicken, jerk pork, brown stew chicken, fried chicken, creole meatballs, escovitch fish, rice and peas, pasta, soup, salad, along with traditional Jamaican breakfast items like cornmeal porridge, callao, saltfish, saltfish with butter beans, steamed and fried dumplings, festival, and plantains. The buffet also had some dessert items for those who desired something sweet after their meal. Everything was made fresh and was delicious. Beyond the buffet, there were a few extras that could be added on such as oxtails as a side entree for an additional $11.99 as well as all you can drink options for mimosas and rum punch. I was also pleased with the ease of parking in their spacious private lot, as well as the friendly and attentive service of the staff including the manager, Kerold. Perfect for an intimate meal or a large group, this was an overall wonderful experience. We left full, happy, and already looking forward to our next visit!

Food was amazing. The staff were attentive and welcoming. I will definitely be back. We visited this place from Minneapolis and let me tell you that got a good thing here. The people just kept coming. The buffet seemed to be a star for lunch. People were even getting it togo! The music and Jamaican decor was a vibe.

I haven't been to this place in a few years but my family wanted to go back since we had since a good experience. The food was just as good as I remember. The Jerk Chicken was very well seasoned and the server was very nice. The ambiance was a tropical/Caribbean vibe. I will definitely come back sooner.

The weather is down but it was a chill vibe when I went to Jerk Hut today. The music wasn't too loud the service was good and the food hit the spot. The rum punch was delicious.

Beef pattie: This is the bottom of the pan made with scotch bonnet! Hot pepper sauce... ordered mild

This is a beef patty made so hot with scotch bonnet and beef looks like it bottom of pan burnt.

Five Stars! "Jerk Hut Jamaica is a gem! The food is incredibly authentic and bursting with flavor. Very fast service with unique twists on the classics. The jerk chicken is absolutely awesome. I had jerk salad. can't wait to come back for one of their theme nights. Highly recommended!"

I love the vibes of Jerk Hut! Felt old school and authentic, not over-commercialized. The buffet was excellent! Everything was hot and delicious. The brown stew chicken, plantains and cabbage were stand outs. The service was just OK. Not terribly attentive. Our water was never refreshed for instance. The food alone would keep me coming back.

Does this place still have the weekend buffet?

How can I make a reservation? When I call the number listed on this Yelp page and press #3 as the greeting indicates Im left with a pre recorded message that says the mailbox is full.

Jinkie! I've experienced this once before . Continue trying you will get someone, that goes to show how good they are. And yes I was able to make my reservations.

The owner greeted us at the door, it was fairly empty so there was no wait and we were seated right away. The ambiance is nice. It does look like you've stepped into the VIP area of a restaurant, so it was cute -- not fancy, but cute. The owner then told us about the restaurant being inspired by his mother, they've been around for 10 years, explained the menu etc., it was nice. He also told us that he hadn't been to Jamaica since a kid and that raised an eyebrow -- but we let it go because he wasn't the cook. MIND YOU, I brought my cousin here (who is Jamaican) after seeing decent reviews about it. He brought over our first round of drinks and they were really good. We really enjoyed them. They weren't strong at all, tasted like juice. So I would recommend just getting juice instead of the +$5 to add rum. As we began to order and look at the menu, the prices were really HIGH, but I guess he was going for upscale cuisine -- so we said OK, let's see what this entails. We all ordered the Taste of the Island plater that gave an oxtail, curry goat and jerk chicken, rice and peas, plaintains and a tiny side salad. I wasn't mad at the portions given, but the flavor didn't hit the mark at all. NOW LETS GET INTO THE FOOD The Jerk Chicken was OVERLY spicy; we couldn't even enjoy the flavor. The oxtails were fatty, sweet and BLACK. Not enjoyable at all. The goat was OK, but not very flavorful in my opinion. The beef patties were good, but probably out of a box. The Roti was good and the oxtail dipping sauce was good. The Honey BBQ Wings were pretty good and cooked well. The Mac'n'Cheese -- DO NOT GET THIS. It literally has NO taste and reminded me of the cup mac'n'cheese that you put the powder cheese in. It took so long to bring it out, I guess he kept forgetting about it (they said everything is made to order) -- which, IDK how you make mac'n'cheese to order. Real cooks know, Mac n cheese is NOT a 5-minute made to order meal. He also didn't ask how we enjoyed the meal -- which I felt like he knew what we knew when he saw that not only did the other table leave a plate full of food (the meats) but our plates resembled the same -- he still collected his coin. There is a 20% gratuity that is added on at the end that is ridiculous considering the prices are already so expensive -- MIND YOU, it is not "Elevate Cuisine", its basic Jamaican dishes on Ikea plates. No special plating, no unique sauces or display, no chef's plating or anything. Just a plate of food. Everyone's bill came in over $100. The table nearby us order the same thing and inquired whether or not we liked our food, but we'd just gotten our food and hadn't tried it yet -- we did warn them about the chicken being spicy, but not everything else. They came after us and left before us and left everything on the plate except the rice and peas. I love black owned businesses and I wish this much more success, but I would NOT recommend it to anyone that is looking for authentic Jamaican food.

Thankfully, I went a few hours after they opened so they were fully stocked with patties. I ordered one of each - curry chicken, spinach, veggie, and beef. I placed an order for a large oxtail dinner, large jerk chicken, and medium brown stew chicken meal. Each meal comes with rice and peas, cabbage, and plantains. I also asked for extra gravy on the rice. I waited for about 10 minutes and received my hefty order. My dad had the oxtails, and said he wish he had more oxtails in the dinner as there was only 4 or 5. However they were on the larger size in comparison to other Jamaican spots. My mom loved the spice on the Jerk chicken as did I. It had that kick you expect and needed. My brown stew chicken was very good. The chicken was tender and the browning sauce was really good especially with the rice and peas. We did all say we wish there was more peas within the rice. The patties were fresh and I had both the spinach and curry chicken. The curry had a kick and was very savory. It made me want to order their curry chicken meal the next time I stop in. Also, did I mention they give you ALOT of food, so you will have plenty of leftovers.
