I went for the first in many years and not for any specific reason just hadn't been. I had not been too the current location on Fowler after they moved from across the street. Talking about it at work made me want to go, so we stopped by today around 5p and placed our order. The cashier was pleasant and helpful even when the kitchen messed up the order. I had the ticket so I know she took the order correctly but they left off the chicken and shrimp in his Alfredo rasta pasta and the cabbage for my jerk chicken. It already took like 30mins and getting those things made us have to wait at least 15mins more since they had to cook the meat for the pasta. The food was decent like I remember it just took so long to get it the excitement to try it again was diminished. We got it to go so we didn't experience dining in but there was a couple of parties that were really large coming in so I was ok with not eating there.

New location Huge! Looks like live band and karaoke Take out window and such nice service. I ordered Togo, huge rice and peas, okra and such fork tender flavorful beef. They still have the buffet, which always hits at lunch. Tampa classic I wish I remembered the name of the Jamaican restaurant on Busch... that was extra delicious too I also wondered why new channel 8 was there yesterday- prayers to Jamaica over the next few weeks and months as they emerge after hurricane Melissa hit yesterday

This is my second time eating here and I can say that I'm truly satisfied with the food I received. I've only tried the oxtails and they are nicely seasoned and fall off the bone. The rice and peas are cooked to perfection and so is the cabbage. One of best patties I've had out here in Florida. The crust is seasoned to perfection, super flaky and meat is so tender. The mild heat is Perfect but I look forward in trying the spicy. My friend enjoys the curry chicken platter always. It's his favorite meal that this place makes. They always get a large and according to him, some of the best curry chicken he's had in Florida as well. I look forward to coming back and experiencing the restaurant ambiance and in person experience. I've tried the takeout and it's met my expectations. Can't wait to be back!

The flavor, the spices & the comfort. The jerk chicken meal was a warm hug in a dish. There was an ongoing buffet which also had a plethora of options Plenty of seating with a nice vibe. And the service was great. Felt like a bring family restaurant.

I've been eating at Jerk Hut since I was a young college student. So 20 years later my kids eat it now too. A family tradition! Def a Tampa staple! My favorite meal is the jerk chicken and of course I have to get a beef pattie to go along with that. Their menu ranges from appetizers, soups, salads to your favorite Caribbean meals. The owner Mr. Andrew is a gem! He's always giving back to the community and is always looking for ways to support. There is a large dining area and there is room for outdoor seating. The Jerk Hut is known for throwing dance parties so follow them on social so you can stay up to date on what's happening. My family loves coming here especially for their lunch or dinner buffet. It's a great way to try different options without being tied to one meal.

We celebrated my mom's birthday during their Sunday brunch which was a wonderful experience. They had live reggae music, a delicious buffet of Jamaican food featuring jerk chicken, jerk pork, brown stew chicken, fried chicken, creole meatballs, escovitch fish, rice and peas, pasta, soup, salad, along with traditional Jamaican breakfast items like cornmeal porridge, callao, saltfish, saltfish with butter beans, steamed and fried dumplings, festival, and plantains. The buffet also had some dessert items for those who desired something sweet after their meal. Everything was made fresh and was delicious. Beyond the buffet, there were a few extras that could be added on such as oxtails as a side entree for an additional $11.99 as well as all you can drink options for mimosas and rum punch. I was also pleased with the ease of parking in their spacious private lot, as well as the friendly and attentive service of the staff including the manager, Kerold. Perfect for an intimate meal or a large group, this was an overall wonderful experience. We left full, happy, and already looking forward to our next visit!

Food was amazing. The staff were attentive and welcoming. I will definitely be back. We visited this place from Minneapolis and let me tell you that got a good thing here. The people just kept coming. The buffet seemed to be a star for lunch. People were even getting it togo! The music and Jamaican decor was a vibe.

I haven't been to this place in a few years but my family wanted to go back since we had since a good experience. The food was just as good as I remember. The Jerk Chicken was very well seasoned and the server was very nice. The ambiance was a tropical/Caribbean vibe. I will definitely come back sooner.

The weather is down but it was a chill vibe when I went to Jerk Hut today. The music wasn't too loud the service was good and the food hit the spot. The rum punch was delicious.

Beef pattie: This is the bottom of the pan made with scotch bonnet! Hot pepper sauce... ordered mild

This is a beef patty made so hot with scotch bonnet and beef looks like it bottom of pan burnt.

Five Stars! "Jerk Hut Jamaica is a gem! The food is incredibly authentic and bursting with flavor. Very fast service with unique twists on the classics. The jerk chicken is absolutely awesome. I had jerk salad. can't wait to come back for one of their theme nights. Highly recommended!"

I love the vibes of Jerk Hut! Felt old school and authentic, not over-commercialized. The buffet was excellent! Everything was hot and delicious. The brown stew chicken, plantains and cabbage were stand outs. The service was just OK. Not terribly attentive. Our water was never refreshed for instance. The food alone would keep me coming back.

The fried chicken was just okay to me, but it also didn't seem fresh, so I'd be willing to try it again on a regular day and see if it's better fresh. Now the sides? They were SO good. I'd go back for the mac and cheese alone. The yams and greens were top tier too. The service was great. The lady serving everyone was so nice and had the best energy. We'll definitely be back because there were a few things we wanted to try. Looking forward to trying the oxtail and turkey wings next time.

I ordered the catfish dinner with yams and mac & cheese, and everything was delicious. Be prepared to wait a little for your food since the proteins are made fresh. I waited about 30 minutes, but it was definitely worth it.

My bestie and I always start with the Fried Green Tomatoes, which are cooked to perfection each and every time! So delicious. We also always order the fried fish, which comes with 2 sides. The fish is fresh and moist and definitely the main attraction for us. I'm in a rut and always order the sweet potatoes and the Mac and Cheese. What can I say - I love this combination so much it warrants repeating. Those sweet potatoes are amazing and the Mac is also excellent. I got a to-go order of the fried fish for my hubby and he wanted his with the Okra and Tomatoes, which he really enjoyed. We don't get down to Mr. B's very often, so it feels like a special occasion when we eat there. The staff is always so very nice and that's the icing on the cake. The server initially said they maybe out of chicken. Came back to say they had chicken left. My husband order liver and onions, she was unsure about the liver and onions. She asked the cook, who was walking around out front. He responded, yes we have liver. Okay, great we ordered. She said it will take 15 minutes. We said okay. She comes back out to say they have no Lima beans. My husband says why don't you tell me what you have and I will choose. It was apparent they had very little on the menu. It's 1:30pm on a Wednesday. It helps to know your inventory. The food comes out. I could hardly cut the chicken it was so dry and overcooked. It looked dark inside as if it was old. I tasted a little piece thinking maybe it was a different seasoning, it had an aftertaste. When the server came back, we inquired about the chicken. She said it is precooked in the mornings and cooked completely when ordered. I thought that's dangerous, letting undercooked chicken sit until ordered. The liver was so dry, you can see it in the picture. My husband could not eat it. They gave the impression that the food was cooked to order. It was not. The black eye peas and yams were good. The collard greens were okay. Not sure where the gravy on the rice came from. It wasn't from the liver. We didn't eat any of the food. They charged us for half the meal. I would have given a 1, but they were very nice. My goal is never to hurt a business. I'm a business owner. But, we must give a good product. We were very disappointed.

Neither one of us had been here before but I saw it had very good reviews on Google. We both got the chicken dinner with different sides. He had the Mac and cheese and I had mashed potatoes since they were out of candied yams. We also both had yellow rice and collard greens. We also shared honey cornbread and hush puppies. Everything was VERY good!! There were a few downsides. We came on a Sunday evening and most of the food was sold out. The women who took our order said Sundays are also busy so we notated that for next time. The wait time is very long since the staff is limited. That day it looked like there were 2 or 3 people working. Lastly, I ordered a lemon poundcake and when I got home, it wasn't in the bag. I was pretty upset. The inside is nice, although very small so I would recommend getting the food to go. They don't allow call ins in advance so be prepared to wait. The staff were also very friendly. I would go back but earlier in the day and double check that all my items were in the bag.

The meatloaf was well-seasoned, and I enjoyed it with the gravy. The mashed potatoes had a nice homemade texture, but the garlic was overpowering. The red beans were also too garlicky for my taste. I hope they consider using less garlic in both dishes. I had a small to-go portion of red beans and requested only a teaspoon of rice. The lady at the front said I would normally have to pay for it and then told me, "You know you already have rice in your container, right?" Her response came across as rude--especially because she had overlooked the fact that I paid $1.50 to upgrade from rice to mashed potatoes. Since the mashed potatoes replaced the rice, there was no rice in my container. The cook then came out, clarified that I had upgraded, and gave me a little bit of rice. It was enough and exactly what I had requested. The sweet potatoes could use more butter and sugar. They weren't very sweet and tasted a little too "potatoey." The macaroni and cheese isn't baked, but I liked it. Its creamy style reminded me of Louisiana-style preparations. The punch is very sweet, but I actually like that because you can add water and turn one serving into two cups! The lady at the front forgot to put my lemon pound cake in the bag, so thank God I checked before leaving. Despite some previous comments suggesting otherwise, the lemon pound cake is definitely homemade and tastes like a homemade pound cake. It was good--nothing to write home about--but it had a genuine homemade taste and was topped with confectioners' sugar. The cook mentioned that red beans and rice may become a regular menu item and that they may also offer a sweet red sauce option for the meatloaf. Those would be nice additions. The lady at the front also said they plan to move to a larger location in the future. The current location is small, but it is nice, neat, and clean, with a pleasant sitting area where customers can wait for their food. The food comes out piping hot, which adds to the homemade feeling--as though it came straight out of the pots in someone's home kitchen. Despite the issues, I would rather eat here than go for Chinese food. I'm sharing this feedback to encourage improvement, not to degrade the restaurant. There are some good flavors here, and with a few adjustments--and closer attention when packing orders--the experience could be much better.
