"You're on Tropic time now." Cute - I could use that on this cloudy day in Raleigh.

This is my first visit as I usually frequent "another smoothie place" closer to my office. Today Tropical Smoothie Cafe was closer to my errands route so here I go. I did look up the menu before going in and chose the Chia Banana Boost. It boasts roasted bananas so I'm intrigued - will this affect the taste? Here on a Friday right before lunch rush in a spot with quite a few lunch spots. I fear I'll get lost in the shuffle, but I don't. As I walk in it definitely reminds me of a place you'd find on a drive out to the beach. Not overly themed but pretty tropical pictures and blue lights. I found the service to be just fine and most importantly I did NOT get lost in shuffle. I saw a LOT of to go orders being put up on the counter and I thought for sure mine would get put up there and I'd wait and wait - that didn't happen. They called out my order and off I went. The smoothie itself was good. It tasted homemade, which was mostly good. I think I've become accustomed to that kinda smoothie flavor/texture that only smoothie places with amazing blenders can accomplish. This was just right.

Awful. Slow service. They are always out of things, even early in the afternoon. Too bad, it would have been a nice addition to this area.

Jeremiah, a worker, was a great help when I went there the other day he was fast, sharp and I was very needy and in a hurry.

Vlad here with another downtown Wake Forest eatery review!…read more White Story Cafe is on the corner of South White & East Wait Streets, sharing a bright, airy space with The Burger Shop, a separate eatery I will review in coming weeks. (For those of you familiar with the area, another eatery called The Lemon Tree used to occupy this space.) Women-owned, White Story offers fresh takes on standard cafe items - paninis, sandwiches, salad, soups and a variety of breakfast options. (See menu pics for more details and pricing). In the very relaxing ambience with bright and cozy seating, we enjoyed excellent service from Apple, one of the owners. Paul and I both had the Morning Waffle Special: a tender tasty waffle with a deliciously crispy crust, topped with a fresh egg as you like it, crispy smoked bacon and fresh avocado slices - let's just say both our plates were clean! The sweet Thai tea was fresh and paired perfectly with our meals. The hours are varied, check the website (or menu pic) and prepare to enjoy light and refreshing fare in a welcoming space - leisurely catching up with friends over the fresh-baked treats and coffee or noshing with a current read. Y'all know me now - I like the smaller, intimate places off the beaten path yet close to everything - this place is a gem for you to try!

Great addition to downtown Wake Forest food scene…read more This spot shares dining space with the Burger Shoppe on S. White St. Order at the counter, the food is served to your table. It's a fairly extensive menu for breakfast. Time from order to service about 10 minutes. Food is good! Tried chicken and waffle. It's a plate-sized waffle, freshly made, topped with breaded chicken. Chicken is tender but a little dry. Nothing that a nice helping of maple syrup didn't fix. Also tried the morning waffle special. This is a waffle, topped with an egg, bacon and avocado slices. Served piping hot, freshly cooked and a sizable portion. Always good to have more quality dining choices in town. I'll be back!

We live in North Raleigh but regularly do our shopping in Wake Forest because it's so convenient,…read moreand once we're there, everything is close by, including lunch. The two of us eat at Over the Falls regularly and always enjoy it. I'm honestly surprised I hadn't written a review before. Lunch for two came to $65.80 + tax and tip, and there was more than enough food. I ordered one of my two favorites: the Ahi Tuna Pita (the other favorite is the blue cheese burger). I paired it with a side salad and blue cheese dressing, plus an unsweetened iced tea with lemon. My wife ordered The Barrel, their Philly cheesesteak, with a side of sweet potato fries. We also shared an order of house-made potato skins. It was far too much food, in a good way, and we took plenty home. Service was outstanding and truly a team effort. One moment stood out: when my wife hesitated to ask for sour cream for the potato skins, our server immediately said, "It's just 15 steps, let me get it for you." That small gesture made a big difference. The rest of the team was equally warm, friendly, and attentive. The ambiance works perfectly for us, lively, busy, and welcoming without feeling chaotic. I would be confident ordering virtually anything from the menu. We'll keep coming back.

Outstanding Wake Forest Eatery…read more Over the Falls features award-winning Specialty Salads, Sandwiches, Burgers, Pizza, Wings & Entrees; plus 12 Craft Draft Beers along with an Extensive Bourbon List, Handcrafted Cocktails & Mules. It's always crowded, does not accept reservations and does not have a bar or inside waiting area. You must register with the hostess, then wait outside (or in your car) until you receive a text that your table is ready. While this is inconvenient and unpleasant, the mouthwatering food is worth the trouble. One of our favorites is the Three Sisters Salad- which includes a generous scoop of either House-made Chicken Salad, Avocado Chicken Salad or Tuna Salad (we chose the Avocado), plus a large mound of Broccoli Salad, Fresh Fruit and a Flakey Honey-drizzled Croissant. Another winner was the Flash-fried Calamari & Banana Peppers. The substantial serving of Rhode Island Calamari was crispy, oh so tender and perfectly seasoned - with Thai Chili and Marinara dipping sauces. We also recommend the Cali Pastrami Sandwich and the Bacon & Cheddar Cheeseburger. Both come with a Pickle & either House-Made Potato Chips, Tortilla Chips, French Fries, Macaroni Salad or Cole Slaw. The NY Navel Pastrami was topped with Fried Onions, Habanero Jack Cheese, Chipotle Mayo and Avocado and piled high on a flaky, chewy golden brown Pretzel Roll. The big juicy Burger included Lettuce, Tomato, Red Onion and several slices of crispy Bacon.
