Snow cones are HUGE-- not sure who made a review saying they give you "one ice cube" and no syrup. Seriously, my husband and I had the opposite experience. Customer service was so great as well, I spilled blue syrup of my snow cone on my white sweater and the staff gave me napkins and endless cups of water for the stain. But this place is hands down the best snow cone I've ever had. The ice is like soft fluffy snow that holds the flavor perfectly. I got a mix of raspberry and cherry. An old family favorite took a turn for the worse. So disappointing. The kids and I waited almost 30 minutes for the snow machine to start working again interrupting nap time! The lack of flavors they had not containing any harsh dyes is bizarre (come on people what are you feeding your children?!). I also heard the workers receive under minimum wage with no tips. Absolutely baffles my mind. Good heavens, these poor workers are only children. Management really needs to do better or else business will suffer. read more

I also liked that it comes in a cup with a sort of saucer around it which cuts down on the mess if you have smaller kids. My only suggestion would be better seating options. They have a few seats outside but the storefront faces west so it is hot in the afternoon sun. And the garbage cans (full of sugar) attract bees, but I'm not sure what they could do about that. I do wish they would offer the option to recycle the plastic saucer cups. read more

I just stopped into this location at 3:20 on 7/6/17. I ordered a large half cherry half passiofruit. I was informed that I couldn't use my debit card for orders under $10. I'm a business owner myself. Turning away a customer's money and interest is very bad business. It's 90 plus degrees outside. I took time out of my day to try your business. I'm not really an ice cream person. I am also not a snow cone person. I hate it when you've sucked out all the flavor out of the snow cone and you're basically left with a rock hard ball of ice. Thank goodness for Tropical Sno, because it definitely isn't your average snow cone. The ice is finely shaved allowing the flavor to seep through and through. It is just as flavorful for the last bite as it is for the first. There are a ton of flavors and combinations to try which will always keep your visits interesting. I opted for the large Sunrise (go hard or go home right?), which was a combo of Cherry+Lemon+Orange. It was about a 90 degree day and this concoction was so refreshing! They have seating outside but I saw a lot of people just take theirs to go. The store itself can use some work. The floor was sooooooooo sticky! But the girls behind the counter were efficient and friendly. My only question is why aren't there more locations? Especially in the city? T-Sno kinda put Italian ice to shame in my world! read more

This facility was one of my favorite spots to grad a treat on a hot summer day. The only reason the store is getting two stars is because the snow cones are good. Although the snow cones are good the experience to get them out weighs the taste. For starters you have to wait in a long line while burning in the blazing sun. Then you order and are swarmed by bees while you wait. After that you have to cross the street to get to a spot where you can supposedly eat your snow cone without being attacked by bees. Then if your lucky and aren't swarmed by bees causing you to drop your snow cone, you still have to throw away your cup. There is one garbage can almost always filled to the brim, and to top it all off the garbage can was surrounded by bees and was impossible to throw anything away causing trash to be all over the place. Lastly the staff isn't very good constantly on their phones and or talking to one another. This was a truly terrible trip that will cause me to avoid the facility as best I can. read more

I visited Tropical Sno Western Springs for the first time a few days ago with my brother and his family. My nephews were shocked that I had never had a "t sno" and after my visit quite frankly I was too! The shaved ice was excellent, and i was delighted about the wide variety of flavors on the menu. The young gentlemen that took our order was quick and polite and we enjoyed our treats outdoors due to lack of space for seating inside. Overall a good place to go on a hot day (but only if you have a serious sweet tooth). However I was a bit concerned when I heard a rumor that the employees were paid in cash which makes it seem like a lot less of a professional establishment. read more

To be honest my visit here today was beyond enjoyable, like the earlier review I'm not typically a snow cone guy myself but everything about this store just works. When I first walked in the store was pretty crowded yet the employes behind the counter handled the lines really well and I didn't have to wait long at all, I decided to go with the tigers blood seeing as that was the flavor advertised on the sign outside, the cashier was friendly and personable as well as the young girl actually shaving the ice. they put in plenty on syrup and it stayed flavorful until the end, although I don't think their air curtain is working properly seeing as I was bit twice while In the store, over all great experience, good employes, and great product read more

I have heard nothing but good things about this place since it opened up two summers ago. I saw another one in Elmhurst so I thought I should give it a try. I ordered a small tiger's blood (I believe is strawberry and coconut mixed) and I was surprised about how delicious and cheap it was. Definitely a better option to take your kids to than the ice cream shops in town and you'll save yourself a lot of money. When I went there there was a small line, but it moved very quickly. Tropical Sno is definitely much better than a typical snow cone stand. I normally don't like snow cones cause a typical snow cones have chunky ice pieces and very little flavoring which never reaches the bottom. This place packs the snow in the cup and fills it way past the rim of the cup. The ice is shaved very thin like snow so the sno cone isn't chunky at all. They also have a huge menu of flavors. And after I picked my flavor, the fun staff filled my sno cone with ample amount of flavor so it reached the bottom and every mouthful had the delicious flavoring. I will be back here with my kids on a hot afternoon. I definitely recommend this place. If you haven't tried it yet, you are missing out! read more
