I rarely take the time to review a business but I am blown away by the service I receive every time I visit this store! I don't know if they have some kind of facial recognition that tells the staff about you when you enter but you're always greeted with a smile from one of the beautiful girls who work there, they always remember your name, the service you are looking for and even which room or bed you prefer! Molly at the front desk actually explained to me the secrets to getting maximum results from my sessions and after she suggested I switch lotions, beds, and the time I tan I now have the perfect skin tone I'm seeking! I no longer feel like I'm getting burned and tanning is almost therapeutic for me! I didn't know you needed to give the lotion time to fully take effect or that there's a red light bed that gives you alot of added benefits! Tropical tan has stand up beds, spray booths, red light beds, and different types of beds with different lights so no matter what your preference might be they have what you need! Molly must have went to some kind of tanning college because she explained the science behind the different lotions and judging by her perfect tan she knows the products well! I feel like family there and with their tanning packages I'm paying about a third of what I used to pay yet getting ten times the results and the best customer service anyone could ever hope for! I made a review two years ago and recently since they moved, I felt the need to update it. The new location is much bigger than the last. So thank you to the employees who keep up the amazing cleaning job! And it is always well stocked in every room with essentials so I don't have to feel bad about leaving the room to ask for more towels, etc. This place has been a tanning blessing. I have terrible social anxiety and when this salon moved from lake city to northgate, I was very nervous and anxious to drive to a new area with new employees. One of the first girls I met was Katie. Right when I walked in the door she made me feel like I was seeing a good friend. Side note as well....I've been spray tanning since I can remember and asked Katie on why I'm not getting the results I thought I should be getting. So she suggested a few tweaks in my usual pre spray tan routine and now I have a darker glow. So thank the lord for Katie! Since then every girl I have encountered has been nothing but welcoming. For someone who has social anxiety, it means the world to be able to find a place where I can feel relaxed and want to leave my house to tan. I've been tanning for years and never have i enjoyed going to a tanning salon as much as i enjoy going here. The management team is really the only girls i see the most often, but every time i see them they are an absolute joy to talk to and have the best customer service i have ever seen with anyone they interact with, and this is coming from someone that's the manager of a retail store and has worked many other retail stores prior. Furthermore, they are incredibly knowledgeable of their product and what would work best with your skin. They're always open to talking about what bed would be best and how much time you should do without harming yourself; great for me because i'd probably go in completely frying myself cause i think i'm tanner than i am or that my italian lineage could help me in not getting burned. (seriously listen to them with the time they recommend). I have gone to other Tropical Tans and the girls are awesome there as well, but if you want a truly personable experience i would 100% recommend the Lake City location. I would continue going to this one even if i lived closer to another location just based on how much i love the girls that work there. Keep being awesome read more

BEWARE!! Many many extra fees and SHADY business practices. They will charge you for things, not notify you in advance, and not tell you once they have charged it. I do not recommend getting involved here and will not be returning. They do not show you, tell you, or give you a copy of what they tell you to sign.... I was charged over EIGHTY DOLLARS $80 worth of fees when trying to finally cancel that I was NOT told would be charged to my account, and they have not refunded me for them, even when though they are completely incorrect. I was told refunds only can be processed by one man in the company.... so they cannot give me a refund for it, and I would have to email him..... then by someone else I was told something completely different. They are not professional when it comes to being upfront about fees/ contracts/ agreements. I would not recommend to family or friends, and I never leave reviews that are bad, but really feel compelled to here because it is close to predatory in my opinion. I see the same thing said by other people when they tried to cancel, wish I had really read reviews prior to ever signing up. read more

I've always felt like tanning salon employees were a little rude and condescending, however this is absolutely the opposite at Lake City Tropical Tan. I'm very impressed with the entire experience, friendly and helpful service, genuinely nice people all around and there with expert advice. I especially love the high grade beds, the spray bed, and the variety of options they have. The newest, safest technology at decent prices and great package deals. My favorite of the new technology Tropical Tan has to offer is the Red Light beds, not for tanning, but a plethora of other skin and medical issues like collagen production, scar and sun damage reversal, pain therapy, fine line and wrinkle reducer... I've only been using it for a week and I am already seeing results in my skin tone and texture, my joints and just generally feeling better. I highly recommend this therapy, even if you do not want to tan! Lake City Tropical Tan definitely deserves 5 stars, and I recommend you check it out...plus parking is easy to boot. read more

I am a newer customer to Tropical Tan and if there were only one reason for that, it would be James! I'd just been to the location on Westminster earlier in the week and the manager there was not pleasant, even knowing that I was interested in buying a package deal. I decided to give Tropical Tan one more chance because they have been in business for so long and have quite a few locations. I'm glad I did, because James has such a great personality and made the experience very pleasant with his helpfulness. I did purchase a package from him because of his knowledge and patience in helping me make the best decision based on my needs. He is very professional and friendly, the place is clean and well run. I even bought some Hemp lotion, not because it was pushed on me (it wasn't) but because I was given a sample and loved it! There is another woman I have dealt with there and she is also very nice and helpful. In regards to "Kyle S." review about Tropical Tan I have to say that he can't be more wrong. The owners of Tropical Tan are some of the nicest people I have ever met in my life. They treat their employee's and customers with the utmost respect. Tropical Tan has the best prices around, and honestly, even if they were more expensive than the national chain tanning salons I would still pay more to support a family business. They change their bulbs religously and I've never had a problem only being tan on one side of my body. And besides, it is recommended that you flip while tanning anyway. They're not dirty at all. What's gross is your face. Speaking of personal attacks, I hardly think it is okay to base a company review on the color of an employee's hair or the way they dress. Maybe the manager had a bad attitude towards you because you're a jerk. Maybe that strange scent was your upper lip. For those of you who haven't tried tanning at Tropical Tan, do it. Tropical Tan of lake City: I give it 5 stars! This is my absolute favorite salon to come to, the staff are more than just friendly, they try to get to know the clients rather than just get em in and get em out. The location is easy to find (and see), is well maintained and always clean and sanitary. The variety of beds allows me to tan any level I want, as well as Redlight and Formostar! Management at this location is always friendly and more than knowledgeable at their job. Not one bad experience has come from my time at Lake City and I always get the results and information that I need! Pricing and deals are absolutely amazing and more than affordable. Without a doubt, this is the location and company that i recommend to anyone and everyone trying to get a summer (or winter) glow, get that gorgeous tan on, reduce stress, and even lose some water weight or reduce skin blemishes! Indeed "Woohoo! AS good as it gets!" I am not the most verbose when it comes to reviews but I believe praise is to be given where it is due. I have been a customer at this location for a while now, ever since moving to Seattle from Florida. This shop is as good as they come. Dani, the manager is an angel. She is friendly, customer oriented, communicative and respectful. I have seen her deal with different situations from less than friendly customers to malfunctioning computers and she is always dignified, calm and on the issue promptly. All the ladies working here are courteous and polite. The location is always impeccable, never seen it dirty or uncared for. I always feel comfortable coming in and seeking advice whether it be on lotions, beds and times. I am a very private person. I don't like a huge fuss and I have a lot of anxieties in public.....However, I could not have felt more comfortable with Dani S. the manager of Tropical Tan. She was kind to me from the first second I walked in the door and has been nothing but helpful the entire time I have been coming here. I'm a relatively new client and felt like I had known the staff for a long time, right away. I explained my emotional needs for tanning and Dani suggested the red light treatments immediately. I cannot wait to try it and a few other services with this company. To be honest-I'm not really someone who has tanned a lot in my lifetime but it helps me with my SAD. The only reason this place has good reviews is because they had a contest for staff rewards. The staff is great. The owners are crooked. When they say that a bed has new bulbs, what they really mean is half of the bed has new bulbs...like just the top half. They also over charge and when you want to cancel they charge you a whole extra month. This month my automatic withdrawal came out with a $20 fee added on. They said my bank refused the first attempt which isn't true. Their computer glitched and now I'm supposed to go get a letter from my bank saying the money was in there. I pay $175 a month for 3 of us. I've been going here for years and now they will lose this over a $20 fee that was their mistake in the first place. Save your sanity and go somewhere else! read more

I've been a customer here for quite awhile and I've been consistently impressed. Dani S (store manager) has done a great job with the Lake City branch of Tropical Tan. Every time I've gone tanning here the shop has always had an exceptionally clean appearance. It's nice to see the staff put in that extra effort to make things look nice. All of the team members here have been super friendly. Every time I've had a question someone has been able to help me out. I've encountered less than friendly staff at other, non-TT salons before so the friendly atmosphere here is certainly a big plus. Tropical Tan of Lake city guarantees you great equipment, a wide product selection, and a relaxing experience. This salon is cute and clean, and as a bonus the rooms are more spacious than other locations I have been to! The facility is always clean and the staff is courteous, knowledgeable, and very customer service oriented. They offer amazing specials and maintain the beds regularly. The quality of customer service...knowledge of products and personal fit for each client the staff works with is fantastic. Alright, let me give you the run down about TT. I'm a former tanning consultant who has made the rounds, both at the big name companies (DS, Seattle Sun...) and local ones. Not only am I also a former TT girl, I will come frequently and tan at TT. Out of all the beds the ultra sun bed, (Ballard location) will get you the darkest in the least amount if time! I love this location! Have never felt pressure to buy lotions, etc. Laid back environment, with a friendly and knowledgeable staff! In the past, I have been to other tanning salons and am asked immediately, if I need lotion, even though their system says I just recently bought some. I like that I am not asked here, as they check that I have recently purchased some, just if I am satisfied with it :).
