I've been coming to Tropical Tan for years... Many locations and have met MANY wonderful employees! I have yet to have an unpleasant experience at this tanning salon, no matter which location. I do want to give a special shout out though, to Domonique, who not only was about to close on a rainy, slow, Sunday night, but graciously let a frazzled, "fresh out of the shower," hoping to get the very last spray tan of the night lady, in without one single complaint or eye roll. Knowing what time it was and knowing that I had an amazing, (thank you TT for your deals!), spray tan coupon that expired tonight... she let me right in, even after already having taken apart and cleaning the machine for it's weekly maintenance. What a GREAT, FANTASTIC and INCREDIBLE employee you all have in Domonique! Little does she know that this little act of kindness and not making me feel like I was, "putting her out or adding stress to the end of her night," mean SO much to someone who has just been through some really hard and sad times. Love this place. I've gone here off and on for years and they always have good deals and great beds. Ashlynne is the best! So bubbly and nice and knowledgeable about the beds. I have a Tropical Tan close to work but they aren't as nice and friendly as the Bothell store so I only went there once. Will stick with Bothell Tropical Tan. read more

Very clean location nice larger location than some of the others friendly staff good prices good variety bulbs are great packages are fairly priced conveniently located overall I give them an A My suggestion for all of their locations are since they offer a complementary robe to wear from red light to the tanning bed it would be nice if they had a small basket maybe even from the dollar store to put your clothes in so you're not struggling caring your keys your lotion your goggles and your clothes and your shoes from room to room it would be really embarrassing if you dropped your undergarments walking through the lobby to a tanning bed that would be my only suggestion and I highly suggest that for all of the locations it wouldn't cost them more than 23 dollars for a couple baskets read more

I walked in, was greeted immediately by a very courteous and helpful person. Their rates and deals are displayed right on the countertop in easy-to-understand terms. The whole place was clean, tidy, and had attractive displays of products for sale and sample. Conveniently located near grocery, bank, gas station, bar, and drycleaners. My tanning bed worked, the lights in the rooms worked, everything I needed was at my fingertips. I'm not sure why OTHER local tanning chains don't understand the appeal of just treating your customers well, but oh, well. I'm very glad I found Tropical Tan, and it's worth driving a little out of my way to have a relaxing and effective tanning experience. I got a Groupon deal for a month use of the basic tanning beds at tropical Tan. At first I went to the one in Seattle, but I decided not to go over the bridge the next time and after that I went to the one in Bothell. I thought I was going to waste it because Bothell is a little far for me. But the drive is worth it. The staff was so friendly and helpful, the beds are always clean, and any questions I had were readily answered to the best of their ability. Super glad that I got ready for my vacation here. read more

The folks that work here are wonderful; however, their back office staff is terrible. I had the same experience as H G., cancelled a subscription in July, am STILL being charged for it here in December. I filled out paperwork and everything. Dozens of calls to their back office have gone unanswered. Making a complaint to BBB & Visa, hopefully they lose their ability to process credit cards until they straighten out their act. read more

This place saddens me. The personnel there, especially Allie are all so friendly and helpful. What sucks is I signed up for a recurring credit card charge for their monthly program. I canceled it in May since summer was coming. They continually charged my card thru October even after speaking to their accounting office twice and being told it would be fixed. I finally had to go to AMEX and dispute the charges and have them reversed which is a disappointment given I was so satisfied with their service and those that worked there. I will probably never darken their doors again because of this. read more

I love this place! Clean, inexpensive and most importantly professional and friendly. Do you ever dread going into a tanning salon because you will be confronted with an overly tan, hot and snobby 18 year old that lacks all awareness of non-hot non-male customers? Well no fear here. Although the employees are all still hot as can be, they are so friendly and professional and make even an (at times) frumpy mom like me feel welcome. I don't know her name but the young lady, if she's not the manager she deserves to be, at the Bothell location is always sincerely friendly to me and anyone else who walks in the door, makes me feel comfortable and welcome, and offers up a deal whenever she can. I will never go to another tanning salon. P.S. They provide eyewear and don't pressure you to buy lotion. read more

I like this place. It's easy in and out for me every time. The only thing I would suggest to other customers is bring headphones. I used to just turn on the radio, but you can always hear the radio in the next room. I told the front desk girl and she goes "yeah, actually we have radios in every room." I told her I knew that. It's just pointless to have a radio in every room when you can hear your neighbors loud and clear. I easily solved my own problems by bringing headphones. Great place- just a heads up! read more

I purchased a Groupon deal for three spray tan sessions at Bothell Tropical Tan. When I went in for my first spray, the very sweet sales girl told me I could purchase one more three-spray package at the Groupon price. Without having sprayed yet, but always looking for a bargain, I purchased the second three-spray package and went back to spray. As another reviewer experienced, this spray tan booth was a dinosaur and does not dry you after each spray like any spray machine at any other salon will do. You finish the spray completely soaked, with pools of spray liquid all over. You race out of the booth to "towel off" but the streaks are already there. I had huge brown drips running down my legs; a great look for the wedding I was attending. I have written to the owner multiple times asking for my money back but they have ignored me repeatedly. GREAT customer service. I will never go back. I go to DESERT SUN where their new Mystic machines dry me in between each spray. read more

The worst tanning experience of my life. The mystic tan let me looking like a dang polkadot. I left the store laughed it was quite a hoot. I'm only giving this place two stars because they had red light therapy which is the only thing I suggest going there for. Otherwise run for your life and skip the mystic tan. read more

She explained the latest and greatest in bed options, and understood with personal empathy the medical reason I was there, and she helped me navigate through and to the best combination of packages (membership), etc., that worked best for me, and my goals, rather then best for Dani and Tropical Tan's goals. I have always liked this place because they are so friendly and nice and check you in so quick. Well today they had a new girl named Amy and she kept trying to sale me lotion. I politely said no twice. But she kept going and demanded to know what lotion I used. I finally just went to the room she assigned me and there was no time on it. I went back, and she said I didn't give her time to enter the time for the room. She had plenty of time while she was trying to upsale me. Grrrr. And then I said please and thank you. And I said thank you when I left and she just turned away. So frustrating when I just wanted to relax for 10 minutes. :( read more

I have been tanning for 20 years and have used a few salons but the Bothell location of Tropical Tan has by FAR exceeded all others in cleanliness ( #1 for me) and in customer service. AND in pricing as well...........I have had nothing but good experiences there and will continue to go as long as I live in the Bothell area. The owners of this salon have chosen very wisely on their staff and my hat is off to all of the employees.................... tropical tan at Bellevue got closed and the ower said we can use Bothel location and they are going to transfer the lotions in there. I called 3 times, they promised manager would call me back . No one call, and the Bothel location 12 miles from my home . It sucks. read more

I purchased a groupon for 5 Mystic tans at Tropical Tan, and I was expecting that they'd have the new Mystic HD machines. They don't... it is just the old machine with their special solution. Unfortunately, it means you have to try to dry yourself off or pat down with the towel... the first time I went, I had a huge awful drip on the back of my leg, and my arms showed streaks on the inside. It was the first time I'd ever spray tanned, so I wasn't sure if that's how it would always be? So I went to Desert Sun to try the newer Mystic machine, and it was SO much better. I thought, meh, what the heck... I'll try Tropical again. So I went a second time, and half way through the spray, I felt it dripping all over me. I was mortified. I looked in the mirror, and sure enough, there were huge streaks already on my back and legs. I tried to pat down, and it just made it worse, so I ended up going home and showering, and then went to Rock Star Tan Bar for the $10 Sunday deal in the VersaSpa. Much, much better. Probably won't be back to Tropical Tan because the technology for the spray tans is pretty lousy, unfortunately. :( The employees are nice and the spa is clean and cute, but not worth the streaks! I've been tanning with Tropical Tan for years. They have great beds, good prices, friendly staff and clean salons. I always get a great tan and a greeting with a smile. Whenever I've tried different tanning salons, they seem overpriced and pushy. I'll stick to Tropical Tan, even if it's a longer drive. read more
