LOVE LOVE LOVE this place!!!! I have had really good vibes, and luck, with the products from Tropical Traditions. I buy online when they have free shipping promos. Everything always arrives in good shape. One of my aunts has been hippy holistic since the 60s. She worked for a natural doctor for a long time and introduced me to Tropical Traditions over a decade ago. The products are well priced for all natural, but not exactly inexpensive. If you're used to buying natural and organic, you're used to it anyway. I shop at Whole Foods all the time and I've tried comps on various items that Tropical Traditions sells. I have to say I am more impressed with quality and effectiveness from Tropical Traditions. It is a notch above what's on the shelf at WF (of things I've tried). True, WF offers many organic and non-GMO labels, and the items I get from TT do not have that, but they are still MOSTLY organic, and definitely natural, and in the case of my toiletries, that's good enough! The insect repellent is so awesome I have given it away as gifts. It smells minty, and is like a lotion you rub into your skin. No chemicals! The first time I wore it I thought it was just a non-buggy day because nice natural lotion had to be too good to be true. But when I go without it (like yesterday, I hiked in a swarm of bugs and forgot this stuff), I definitely see the difference. It has organic essential oils in it, which soak in and don't sweat off in the heat, so it lasts a long time. I put it on once a day when I plan to be hiking or outside and it lasts the whole day. I feel fine about putting it on my baby too, no worries about chem yuk. So, this is a huge star in my toiletry cabinet! Love it! I am loving the lip balm too. Used to get the 365 stuff from WF, but I was addicted to it. My lips needed more, more, more, all the time. I need the TT version a lot less, and I love the coconut flavor! The next thing I am going to try is their deodorant. My doctor told me to go for a natural one without aluminum (med advice against breast cancer), so this is an important switch. I've not had great success with some of the options at WF. They don't feel right, or I don't like the scent, etc. So I hope I have the same pleasing experience with TT on their deodorant as with everything else! read more

I had to hold my horses too. Saturated fat isn't the devil we've been taught it is? Whoa! If you're watching your carbs and the amount of sugar you eat, and insisting on only high quality proteins like grass-fed, pasture raised, organic meats and wild seafood, saturated fats get to do what they are meant to do which is to provide us with energy and health benefits, not heart disease and big butts. With that in mind, I've been doing a lot of reading and researching about the particular wonders of coconut oil. Coconuts in general are taking center stage in a way they really haven't before outside of life in the tropics. Coconut water seems to be the drink du jour now. Dr. Oz has jumped on the bandwagon too and has touted the wonders of the coconut and coconut oil on his show. And it's easy to find information and books now extolling all the coconut's many virtues. Tropical Traditions has been recommended to me by many (particularly in the paleo community where coconut is king) and I've been very pleased with this company since I've started ordering from them. I buy their Gold Label Virgin Coconut oil made from organic coconuts used within 24-48 hours of harvesting and which are then cold-pressed without any chemical or high heat treatment. Although T.T. also sells expeller-pressed oil as well which cost less, I believe the Gold Label is the way to go. I've learned that coconuts and their oil are far healthier than I'd been led to believe once upon a time. Coconut oil is considered a superfood. Once eaten, coconut oil has anti-microbial, anti-viral, anti-fungal and anti-protozoal properties. In addition to now using coconut oil (alternating with extra virgin olive oil) to cook with, I keep a jar of it in the bathroom to use as a body and face cream, as a salve when mixed with essential oils, as a daily part of an ancient Aryuvedic health technique called oil pulling and right out of the jar as an overnight hair treatment. I've been a huge fan and loyal customer of this company for many years; however, they have changed their name to Healthy Traditions recently and their customer service has become non-existent. They no longer provide customer service by phone and are not replying to the email generator on their web site, other than an automated reply. I've been trying for 3 days to resolve a problem on a time-sensitive matter, but been unable to contact them. I posted this review on BBB: I've done business with this company under the business name of Tropical Traditions for many years. They must be under new ownership and are currently being run like a fly-by-night Chinese takeover that lies about their products and service. I'm extremely skeptical at this point. They have changed their business name to Healthy Traditions and no longer have a Customer Service phone number to contact them with. The phone number listed on the BBB page, (866) 311-2626, is only attended by a recording that "the fastest way" to contact them is via their email address, and that is the only way to contact them through the website. I received an advertisement for a special of Buy 1 Get 2 FREE Pure Coconut Oil - 1 quart via Facebook and through their mailing list, which I have been on for many years. By clicking on the link, the web page says the discount will show at checkout, but it does not. I have completed the email form on the page each day for three days in a row, yet gotten no reply other than one automated reply that says: "Thank you for reaching out to us at Healthy Traditions, We currently have a large backlog due to migrating to our new online store, and response times are running 1 to 2 business days. We do apologize for the inconvenience and we are working hard to catch up. If you are contacting us because you are having a difficult time logging into your account that was on the old system, fear not, your old account information and Gift Certificates ARE intact. However, we need to activate your account on our new store in order for you to access. 1. You should have received an activation email from us on May 24th. I want to start by saying I'm giving 2 stars because I really like the products they sell at Tropical Traditions. If could order from them without an offer from a $100 in free gifts popping up every time they would be a great company. The truth is their prices ARE much higher than you find anywhere (albeit with a quality to match). So why does a high end company resort to misleading popups that steal your data after you order? This popup ad for a gift makes you think you will both help Tropical Traditions and earn something by answering questions and entering your personal data on Bizrate. After filling out many pages of survey you will find a link for a discount magazine subscription you probably don't want and all your personal info now belongs to strangers. I emailed customer service before posting my review and got a response basically blaming Bizrate but excusing it with "they are a well known company". Here's their response- blaming Bizrate and acting like they don't do this for kickback: "The survey that pops up on our web site after an order is placed is not sponsored by us, and is independently operated. Depending on the survey, customers will be offered a chance to be entered into a drawing, special offers on magazines, etc. This survey is totally optional and a customer may choose not to participate. Although the survey is not sponsored by us, it is a legitimate survey and Bizrate is a well-known company. As long as you did not enter your payment information, there should be no charge related to the magazine offer. I have been ordering from Tropical Traditions for more than five years now. I have had a few problems with the eggs being broken, which is not their fault. But they always made good on it. I order all my eggs from them now since they are the only supplier that sells a coconut diet and not the regular soy and corn, organic or not, corn and soy are not healthy foods. I stopped ordering the coconut oil from them even though it is the best I ever had, it is just too pricey for me and I can get second best for a much lower price and I'm happy with that too. I try to watch their sales and then stock up. But mainly I just order the eggs and some personal items from them. I wish their foods would be sold locally, that would help with shipping too. I highly recommend this company and trust them not to sell any gmo products or anything other than what they say is in the product. read more
