Roxie was awesome! There were times we'd walk & trot with the horses. She was clear on her instructions but also very enjoyable and made the trip fun. Though a little nerve wracking at times because I don't ride horses, it was still a great time with beautiful weather & views! 10/10 recommend. **They also have bathrooms on site. I wore shorts but had to bring a towel and it helped but ideally jeans/pants would've been better just as they recommended.

One of the most magical experiences I've ever had. The scenery was absolutely stunning--something you have to see in person to truly appreciate. Pictures just don't capture the beauty. I'd go back in a heartbeat. I was a little nervous at first since it was my first time riding a horse, but the staff made me feel completely at ease. They gave clear instructions during the briefing and were super open to questions, which made a huge difference. Big thanks to the sweet girl with the curly hair who gave us such a warm welcome and introduced us to the incredible Puerto Rican horses. And a special shoutout to Javier--your guidance and calm energy made us feel like seasoned riders.

Don't miss out! We had an amazing horseback riding experience, thanks to our incredible tour guide!, Javier ! From the moment we arrived, they made us feel welcome and at ease especially because my 10 year old daughter is new to riding. The horses were well cared for and clearly loved, and the trail was absolutely beautiful -- peaceful, scenic, and just the right amount of adventure. I highly recommend taking time to enjoy this memorable tour while relaxing. Don't miss out!

I had a nice time in Puerto Rico, but horseback riding here was by far the best part of my trip! I'm an experienced rider, but it had been 30 years since I last rode, and it felt great to be in the saddle again. I was given a silver horse named Smokey, and my husband had a bay horse named Galante. My husband was basically a first-time rider, and the guide looked after him and the other beginners. The horses appear to be healthy and well-cared for; they are Paso Finos or mixes and smaller than most horses in the mainland. So, the weight limit is understandable and something to be aware of. Our ride started in a ritzy residential neighborhood, then went to a meadow path and led to the beach. We went on another forested path to enter the beach again. After resting the horses for about ten minutes, we took another trail back. I loved every minute of it, and my husband did pretty well. The ranch is not easy to find. We discovered that Google maps is more effective here than the map function that comes with your I-Phone.

Our tour guide Colton was amazing and so chill! We had a great time during our tour. It was my husbands first time doing horse back riding and they were so patient and made him feel so comfortable doing it! And the trail was so peaceful

I can sum Tropical Trail Rides in one word. SPECTACULAR!! Horseback riding on the beach has been a bucket list item since I was 10. And now, at 58, I can check it off. From the wonderful and extremely professional and knowledgeable staff, including our guide Doug and my wonderful horse Harmony, to amazing views of the beach to riding through the Almond Tree Forest, there is not one thing I would change. I can not recommend them highly enough! The ranch is beautiful and the horses are happy and healthy. Thank you for helping me check something off my bucket list. Whether you are a new rider or you've been riding for 30 years, this is the place to go if you want to have an amazing experience!!

I had such a good time riding horses here. I recommend this place. We picked the two hour trail. You have to pre-book it. It comes with a guide. They are very professional and knowledgeable. I would advise to follow the pre instructions. They will give you a recomendations on how to dress for the ride. I would follow it. It is a nice trail. You go through grass and canopies of tree. It is so relaxing and beautiful. They then take you by the beach too. It is a secluded beach i think they called it survivors Beach. They gave the horse a little break halve way the trails. We where able to have some horse time pet and take pictures at this time. It is a good time to drink water. I had a great experience. The horses are so gentle and well behaved. The pair you with a horse depending on level of your experience. I had a great time.

The trail in the Forrest and beach view is so beyond beyond. The horses listen and are well taken care of. They do a mid point stop, highly recommend bringing water with you. It is two hours but so worth it. My horse was Alamo..a wonderful male horse.

Although he'd reserved a studio, when we arrived, we found we had been upgraded to a one-bedroom unit, as the studio's door was being repaired. Late check in was very easy. The property's deck is large and has a gorgeous view of the beach directly below. You really cannot beat the location of Villa Tropical on Shacks. We enjoyed drinking our coffee on the deck whilst watching the sun rise in the mornings before grabbing our gear and walking down the short flight of steps to the sand. The gift shop within the office is a major time saver, too, when you need a drink or snack but don't want to drive. The Econo supermarket is only about an 8-minute drive away, though, when you do want to do a grocery run. It was awesome having a fully stocked kitchen and being able to cook and eat in most meals. We loved grilling on the deck at sunset! The Ola Lola restaurant is a cute spot a short walk away for food or drinks when one would rather skip cooking, too, and in each room, there is a very thorough guide compiled by the management with information on where to find all kinds of things in the area, from film development to entertainment. It was extremely convenient to be able to do laundry on the premises also. The staff are super helpful and maintain VT very well. Our unit (1B) was clean and comfortable, and by the end of our stay, we had fallen into a nice, homey routine. I was sad to leave and understand why Shacks is a place so many return to every year. The beach is clean, the big waves break far from the shore, there are interesting reefs for snorkeling, many days have adequate wind for kitesurfing, and there is a friendly surfer community among those who stay in the area both longer term and seasonally.

We were told that they have closed this area to the public now as it was disrespected after a viral tik tok video, people were trashing it, parking anywhere, and destroying the land. So now the owner has closed it and has this tour company to take people in to crowd control and make sure the land isn't trashed. I'm glad we went because it was only 4 of us and the tour guide! We took our time walking through the rivers, looking in caves, kayaking, and hiking. It was a quiet and calm adventure. So beautiful! The tour guide was also awesome! He found unique plants, flowers, bugs, and birds to highlight. The offered a ride to the location, life vests, and helmets. Everything else is up to you to bring- water, snacks. Truly a breath taking experience!…read more This was is one of the best experiences we had in Puerto Rico! If you're looking for the typical tourist horseback ride, this isn't it. This is a rainforest adventure led by a woman and son who genuinely love their horses. You can immediately tell these horses are family, not money-making machines. They're happy, well cared for, and some are rescued. The horses we rode were great listeners and sure-footed. The short ride through the beautiful mountain slopes to just being surrounded by an incredible rainforest was absolutely breathtaking, the sounds of the rainforest seem to talk to your soul. We stopped at the river where the cold rushing water flowing over the rocks felt like natures version of tub jets. It was the perfect way to cool off. We enjoyed the cove built where tiny freshwater shrimp naturally gather. We put our feet in, and the mini shrimps gently nibbled away the dead skin. It was like getting a free pedicure right in the middle of paradise! This wasn't just a horseback ride. It felt like being welcomed into someone's home and experiencing a piece of Puerto Rico with people who truly care about the land, the river, and especially their horses. As if the experience couldn't get any better, we returned to the barn, She invited us on her deck/porch where she served us fresh water and tropical fruit from the trees on her property. oSitting there, enjoying juicy fruit with that incredible view, was the perfect ending to an unforgettable day. I would recommend this experience to anyone visiting Puerto Rico. We can't wait to come back!

We rode down a fairly steep, winding path on the horses to the river. At the river we were able to walk across rocks to get to a swimming area. We stayed there for about half of the time. After the ride, she gave us mango and coconuts to have on her porch with a great view of the rainforest. There were some opportunities for good pictures, but unfortunately we don't have any of those because the owner, Amy, took pictures for us and said she would send them to us. After the fact, she said she wouldn't send them unless we paid her for them, which was not what she had communicated during the ride. She also sent a link to tip her or send her more money in exchange for the pictures. This is after we paid $100 per person for the experience. I would recommend looking at other Horseback Riding experiences. I was put off by the interactions with the host and lack of professionalism.

One thing I really appreciated was that we stopped to take photos something I haven't experienced on similar tours before, so that was a nice touch. Since it had been a while since I last rode an ATV, I was a bit jerky at times, so that felt a little unnecessary. Other than that, I liked the experience and had no major complaints.

The tour guides - Warren ,Alberto,Joshua,Kevin, Jaime &Henry made sure our safety was #1 priority. They helped us through the hike which was one hour or so, through zipline ( it's actually not scary,it was very fun), they 10ft jump into the water in caves ( I'm so scared of heights and I jumped and survived ), they tube rafting which was amazing and being inside the caves rafting- something i have wanted to do for years and everyone was mesmerized by the beauty of it all and the experience. I would suggest to not wear watershed as the hike is very slippery when ground is wet. Also, your shoes need good grip and will 100% get muddy or ruined . Also good shoes prorext your feet from all the trecking through the water and rocks you will have to climb over. The climb and descent is very exhausting and rigorous if you've never hiked,so stay hydrated. Bring snacks for after and 100% buy a waterproof phone cover as your phone will get wet. You can hose off after the tour is over at their location . Oh, and the guides do carry water and snacks for sale too in case u forget to bring. Overall, this has truly been a great group adventure and we would love to make it a yearly tradition. Also make sure to tip your guides.
