This is a gem of a butcher shop. I have purchased nothing but quality meats from Al's. They also have sausage made in the shop and it tastes of back East, I was born and raised in Chicago and ALs product are genuine. He occasionally has mortadella and other specialty Italian meats from "the old country ". Only place I k ow of to get ground veal. Service is friendly and family like. Small business ownership at its best. I decided to treat myself to a filet mignon and Al's immediately came to mind. I know several people who highly recommend Al's so I stopped in a couple weeks ago to peruse their meat options and prices. They have nearly everything you would want from homemade sausages, fillets, rib roast, rib racks, chicken, pork, chops, anything you could want or need. Even more than most supermarkets. Today I purchased a fillet mignon and asked for it to be butterflied. It was done perfectly. I took it home, brought it to room temperature and put it on the grill. Oh my gosh. it was so tender I could cut it with a butter knife. The prices were on the pricey side but totally worth it. Considering that this is a small private owned business I am more than happy to patronize a business where fresh meats are fresh with NO added anything. read more

Sent my uncle here to pick up some ham hocks. He came home with smoked shank but he's so happy with it. I called before he went to make sure they had some & they super nice lady who answered the phone was personable & fun. My uncle came back with a very generous shank that had tons of meat on it. He had them cut it in two pieces. This is definitely somewhere we will be coming back to. read more

We found this gem on YELP ! From the minute we walked thru the door, we were greeted and when we told her that we had never been inferred, she told us all about their premise of the beef , pork and chicken they sell. We purchased some of their home made sausage, and sliced beef for sandwiches, fresh motz, and Italian packaged pasta that I actually went in to buy. We will return again, unfortunately we are just here another month, but if I lived here they would have all my business especially buying my prime rib for the holidays. This was our first butcher shop experience and my goodness, I don't think we will buy our meat anywhere else! Everything was so fresh and came out absolutely perfect. You really have to get the potato salad as well, they gave us a small sample and I wanted to buy the whole supply lol. I was told that Al's Meat Market had the best bacon burgers in the valley so I checked them out on Yelp. Most of the reviews were glowing but one stood out. That review noted the employees weren't wearing face coverings. The review was a couple months old and to give them the benefit of doubt I called the store. I told the person answering that I'd seen a review on Yelp that said employees weren't wearing face masks and asked if their policy had changed and if they were now wearing them. I was told all employees were now wearing masks, so I told them I'd be over soon to make several purchases. Unfortunately, when I went into the store no one was wearing a mask, employees or customers. I will not patronize a business that first lies to me nor one that has such little regard for it's customers safety and health. read more

I called to cancel the order & told Al how disappointed we were & he said he was sorry we felt this way. If you are looking for a quality meat, look no further than Al's. He is also one of the most conscientious butchers out there. One thing I cannot stand is a lot of gristle in my hamburger and Al takes the time to trim the fat and gristle eliminating most of the nerdles as I call them. lol I really like the way he trims the chuck roast as well with cuts that are almost pure meat, Very little fat. It's not cheap - quality never is. There are a few dry good items like pasta - but if you are looking for that kind of stuff, head to Romanelli's...don't come here. Come here for the meat. They specialize in corn-fed Iowa beef. If you are looking for grass-fed...I don't think these are the droids you are looking for, but they might be able to order it? What I DO know: is that the ribeye I had from here yesterday was AWESOME (so well marbled). Melted in my mouth. I have purchased bone-in prime rib roast, bone-in rib eye steaks, porterhouse steaks, beef short ribs and so much more from them and it has all been fantastic. I've been living on this side of town for over 4 years and have driven by the "Iowa beef" sign almost daily when I finally wised up and stopped in this amazing place. Why oh why did it take me so long!? Al's is a small butcher shop but they carry everything you could ever dream of in regards to meat. Chicken, beef, pork, they even have homemade sauce and meatballs! It's a carnivores fantasy. They grind their own beef right there and it's out of this world! 85/15 and just the most delicious flavor (you can request the fat ratio you'd prefer if this isn't to your liking). The beef is antibiotic free and hormone free too! Chicken is free range, they have lamb and veal upon request too! Not to mention deli selection, and trays too! Whoa, overload here. We have lived in Arizona for five years, and we always buy our meats from Al's Meat Market in Sun City. The owners are very friendly and knowledgeable. We recently returned to Arizona from Massachusetts, and we needed to restock our freezer. My wife called in a large order, and she was told it would be ready at 11:30. When she walked in, she was appalled to see that neither the owner nor his wife were wearing masks. In addition, there were customers not wearing masks. We will be taking our business elsewhere and never intend to go back. They completely disregard the health of their customers in the middle of a pandemic. Very disappointing. read more

I posted a review a couple days ago but it is not on here for some reason so I will post it again. We have lived in Arizona for 6 years. We have been buying our meats at Al's. But early in the pandemic we went there & were disappointed that no one in the store was wearing masks correctly. They had them on below their nose or around their neck. I didn't feel comfortable so have not gone back till a couple days ago. There was a sign on the door must wear masks but no one in there had a mask at all. Now during the height of the pandemic they didn't even have one around their necks etc. I called the store when I got home to complain and Al said he was sorry I felt that way. Apparently he has no intention on wearing masks because I see other reviews on here with the same remarks. read more
