The only clue as to what is inside in a small sign in the lawn emblazoned with the GM logo - which I suspect is deliberate to throw off snoopers. If you love automobiles, the GM Heritage Center is a bucket list worthy destination. A rotating collection of over 700 historic, groundbreaking and innovative vehicles are on display here. Over 160 vehicles are on display at any given time and vehicles are swapped out several times a year I'm told. Chevrolet, Pontiac, Cadillac, Oldsmobile, Buick, GMC and even Holden were represented here during my visit. There is also a nice collection of historical memorabilia from GM Design as well as a lot of historically significant engines on display. There is no touching or sitting but, you can get right up and peek in the windows of most cars - no velvet ropes! As the name suggests, this isn't a museum but a private collection. As such, the collection isn't open to the general public but it is able to be reserved for groups. It's surprisingly affordable when you consider that what's in the collection cannot be seen anywhere else, ever - and is probably easily valued in excess of 100 million dollars. No rambling review I could write would ever be able to do this place justice so, just do yourself a favor and get a group together and come down here. If you need a +1 hit me up, I'd go back again in a second!

Some of the cars you may rarely see in the US as well. Many concept cars GM developed in the past. Very interesting place. They also have a section with all sorts of engine displayed. Posters from the past. Great place for a family trip.

I would like to be able to shoot there more, but knowing if have to add a steep shooting fee to the shooting cost is a big deterrent to my willingness to come back to shoot again, even though it's a beautiful place for pictures.

As a teenager, Cranbrook was my rival, as I went to Country Day for high school! As an adult, Cranbrook is one of my favorite places to walk with my dog all year round. We love coming here to appreciate the House & Gardens, walk around the lake, soak in the architecture & art, and share it all with our family and friends! Every time we come here, we see photoshoots happening (and maybe I have done a few for my dog too in the past) - whether it be senior photos, weddings, family photos, or what - Cranbrook is the perfect backdrop! It's dog-friendly, if you haven't gathered that yet, and the campus is so big that there is so much to do here. Nowadays, we love parking at the art museum and walking over to the House & Gardens and around the lake to the Japanese Garden and just doing that path regularly! It's a fantastic time every time we come here and I hope we can continue doing it for years on end. Thanks for being you, Cranbrook!

I kept asking about piece after piece and Ronél Ströh never made me feel like I was wasting her time. Over the course of the trip she really learned my taste and found a stunning painting by Jim Warren. She Tracked it down in the catalog, wasn't even on the ship. She just knew I'd want it. Over different days she explained the difference between lithographs, serigraphs, hand-embellished pieces. I price-checked in front of her, never felt embarrassed. Didn't buy until basically the last day. Zero pressure, ever. I Left with two Kre8s, a Peter Max, a Fazzino, and that Warren. About the pricing, yes it's above street market, but the frames alone are stunning. I tried framing the complimentary lithographs I received and got a reality check fast on what framing actually costs. So honestly, the framing alone and when you include shipping is already at least 250+ everything arrived faster than I expected, beautifully packed. No issues whatsoever. One thing nobody mentions: once you buy, suddenly everyone on the ship has an auction story. There's this whole little art community that forms onboard. Genuinely fun. Go for the free drink. See what happens. I sincerely smile every time I see these prices and am so glad and feel cool to say I own fine art. Thanks Park west and thanks especially Ronnie.

You get a chance to learn about the ownership history along with the history of the items within. It is really quite an experience to walk around and through a house that does not have hallways. You are able to walk and explore all of the levels of the house. The basement level is huge; it's the whole of the house. You are able to walk upright and not feel claustrophobic like some basements do. As you climb up you can walk through all of the bedrooms as they are connected together. It is weird and awkward but makes sense given the design of the house. Each room is decorated differently and presents a different time period of the house and the former owners. It is worth it to climb to the top of the cupola. But beware, you will feel like a giant. The railing is quite low at the top of the cupola. I walked up and down basically hugging the wall. The views from the top were worth the climb. I would go back if I had the opportunity to because I'm sure there is more to learn and see.
