If I could give this place more then 5 stars I would. A friend and I went for the first time for dinner. I had the lumberyard dip, Ruben sandwich, and cheesecake for dessert - as well as 2 glasses of the Meade. All portion sizes were great! The dip we split and had a ton of leftovers from that. Very garlicky BUT who doesn't like garlic? The Ruben sandwich was cold which was my only complaint. I am thinking they meant to serve it like that? Either way it didn't both me enough cause I still ate it. And finally the melt in your mouth cheesecake. I never ever get dessert and I'm so glad I did here. It was so creamy I almost licked the plate lol. Service was impeccable. My friend got a mixed drink and said it tasted fine, but he comes the server 10 min later with a new one saying he 'didn't think that was his best work' and swapped out her drink. read more

Folks, this place is a hidden gem. When you walk in you get kind of a 'Cheers" vibe with a beautiful bar, a few tables and friendly faces welcoming you in. The staff is small, mighty and accommodating. Scott, behind the bar, is extraordinary, up beat, and has a gift of making you feel welcome and at home. Now for the food...the whipped goat cheese appetizer, comes with bread and fresh fruit and is impeccable. The smoked tri tip sandwich! (My preference is horse radish with this sandwich) absolutely melts in your mouth, and the soft pretzel bun is a flavorful bonus! The Crofton is filled with juicy, tender roasted pork shoulder. The pork with the crispy onions and sweet/tangy bbq sauce send this sandwich over the top. Again, that delicious pretzel bum! Everything is fresh and definitely made with love. I can't say enough, thoroughly impressed. Definitely an establishment you hate to leave and are eager to go back to. read more

Having seen their Instagram, we all wanted to stop by and try Troy a lumberyard. Everyone was super friendly as we walked in the door and sat down. We had the Spicy chicken sandwich, Bree and prosciutto sandwich and house salad. The spicy chicken had a rich creamy feel and flavor. Very pleasing with high quality ingredients. The Bree and prosciutto had a nice balsamic vinaigrette than pulled the delicious flavors together on a baguette. Amazing food and wonderful place. We'll eat here again! read more

I found this place by doing search here on Yelp for the Temple area. We were wanting to try and new place and saw the great reviews. I looked at the menu before going and Guinness on draft caught my eye LOL. Always a great start. As you can see from other pix it's a cool building with great look. We started with some bread and oil , unsweet tea and Guinness. My wife ordered the Turkey Club and I the Smoked Tri-Tip sandwich. ( I had a had Tri-tip once before that a friend had grilled and it was tough but flavorful). This was smoked and available only here the weekend. My wife loved the Turkey sandwich which was served on sourdough. The Tri-tip was served on I think a prezel roll. The sandwich was perfect !!! We asked for a dessert to share and the waiter recommended the Creme Brulee cheese cake. Which was fantastic !! We will definitely be back. read more

Stopped in on our way to Dallas and we're blown away by this find! The family who own it are all wonderful. So friendly, welcoming and helpful. They have a great wine/beer selection. I must say I was pleasantly surprised by this place! It is in its infancy, so they are waiting on their liquor license, but they are able to serve wine and beer. I was fortunate enough to meet one of the owners while I was there. He was awesome and so knowledgeable about the menu. You can tell that he is personally invested in the success of this restaurant. We had the chicken and mushroom soup, which was delicious. Probably one of the best soups I've ever tasted! It's kind of hard to impress me with soup, but I will say I was impressed. We also had the charcuterie board which was well balanced with fresh fruit, a local honey, and some other interesting spreads. The best thing about this restaurant is definitely the service and the ambience. I can't wait to go there again it's the kind of place you can just go chill and hang out. It's small and quaint and one of those places that you would see on the Food Network lol it's hard to believe that there's a hidden gem is in the middle of nowhere Troy, Texas. Food was good. Service was ok, they were very busy and hustling the whole time we were there. We were there at 5:30 PM on a Friday night and they had live music. We were a group of 4 couples and two little girls, 8 and 3 years old. Between the busy restaurant and the music we had a hard time having a conversation. No biggie. I want to explain that we are not a rowdy group at all. My husband and I are near 50, and both are retired law enforcement. We had heard great things about this place and wanted to support local business. However, they need to specify this is not a place where children are welcome. Our friends little girls both sat very well behaved throughout our dinner and drinks, watching their iPads. At one point the 3 year old was happily playing with two spoons. The owners wife came out of kitchen in a frazzle and was not happy. She told our friend to not let her do that. We were confused because she wasn't doing anything and then we realized she was upset about the spoons. Apparently they have special expensive spoons there. This little girl wasn't hurting anything at all. She's a mostly non-verbal little girl who was loving just sitting there tapping two spoons together. Her mom got embarrassed and took the spoons away. That sweet girl was in tears (not a howling screaming kid, she was sitting there silently crushed with tears running down her face). Strike one. We were able to distract her and tried to shrug that off and continue to enjoy our company. Not too much longer after, the 8 year old was in tears. Her mom was upset also and said the girls weren't allowed to have iPads in there so they had to go. We were all confused. Another couple with us, also near our age, had literally just commented on how well behaved these girls were. The 8 year old, like the 3 year old, quietly had tears running down her face but was not making a scene. I, however, wanted to. I had just paid our bill spending a hair under $400 in their establishment... and now our friends (who are more like our family) were leaving because of how their children were treated. They (our friends) apologized to us because they didn't want to cause trouble and ruin our evening. ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? The parents of those girls are both former Army, dad is a disabled vet. Strike two. When the owner Scott came by, one of the couples we were with asked him what was going on. Scott said the iPads were too loud and he could hear them so he talked to the 8 year old about it. We were all at the same table and we couldn't hear the iPad. He also brought up the spoon incident (which his wife came out of the kitchen to handle). There was no polite conversation to explain anything or make any requests, just straight to the shy 8 year old. That was it, we were done. Strike three. I am the first person to get annoyed when you have bratty kids running around, being loud, disrupting the experience of other guests. My kids are grown, but when they were little I never allowed that. However, that that was not the case in this situation at all. They sat quietly at our table, did not throw any fits or make a mess. Again, the food was good. Service was meh (but understandable due to how busy they were). And the owners, well.... I couldn't be more disappointed. read more

A hidden gem with a casual invited atmosphere, huge selection of craft beers and a nicely curated wine selection. Sandwiches and bites were all fresh and delicious. Absolute gem of a tavern. I stopped here on my way to get raw milk from Red, White, and Moo one day (highly recommend). Now every time I get milk I stop here. All the food is delicious, my favorites are the whipped goat cheese appetizer and the brie and prosciutto sandwich. The owner is awesome and has phenomenal taste in beers. We heard about this establishment from a colleague after our recent move to the Temple area for work. We are moving from Austin where the food options are phenomenal. We are trying to discover more here and this will be one of our "places" when our adult daughters are home, company is in town, and just cause. The decor is nice! We were there at a low volume time but I can see if it's crowded it can probably be loud as it is one big room. I wouldn't hesitate to rent the entire venue out for events. Not sure where to begin with this amazing place. I've taken every single one of my visiting family and friends here and each time it's just as amazing as the previous visits. I cant recommend Troy Lumber Yard enough. On the weekends my go to is a nice cold beer (which there is a massive selection) and one of their delicious sandwich's. A word of warning, the cowboy nachos are both addicting and a huge order. The service is above and beyond, even when it's busy the food comes out pretty fast and I haven't had any issues with my order like I have at other restaurants. The building is very cool with a lot of history, and after speaking to the owners one night, most of the inside was repurposed from the old lumberyard which I think is awesome! Both hubby and I are happy, he has a nice Belgium beer and I got a delicious Italian Pinot Grigio. Sweet little location in the mini downtown Troy with high ceilings, original flooring and cabinets. It's historical with a modern flair. And they specialize in local cheese. Yes it's true. And if that wasn't enough our delicious turkey sandwich with hatch chili aioli served on fresh bread with kettles and pickle was only $13. This is one of those places that you just feel comfortable in, as if you imagined it and there it is! The interior is so cool!
