This is one of my most favorite stores in Lubbock and one of the few keeping me sane around here…read more We might be far from the mountains but coming here makes me feel like they're close by. While I'm not huge on fly fishing and there's not much of it to be had close by, about a quarter of the store is dedicated to it. You can get rods, reels, line, flies, and a whole getup for the sport right here. Not to mention, if you bump into the owner he's happy to chat and provide some pointers. Another quarter of the store is dedicated to hiking and camping. There is a very limited selection of tents, sleeping bags and pads, general camping supplies, and quite a few backpacks. They supplied me with a couple items for my 2023 AT hike, but what they have is generally aimed at car campers. The remaining half of the store is all clothing and shoes from the most popular outdoor brands. Outdoor Research, North Face, Patagonia, Buff, Goodr, and so many others. I imagine they're making most of their money from people who mostly just want to look outdoorsy. Which is fine from my perspective. They are always well staffed with college students. Almost seems like there are always more employees than really necessary in here. Nevertheless, I usually end up popping in just to have a look around whenever I drive by. I honestly rarely buy anything mostly because I don't need anything. But the ambiance always makes me feel at home.

A much needed and fantastic addition to the limited selection of outdoor stores in Lubbock. Baker…read morehas a decidedly more leisure in the outdoors approach featuring more boats, daily clothing, and fishing gear. If an easy going day on the lake angling in the sun is more your speed, this is the place for you. That said, there is a decent selection of camping and hiking gear. Sea-to-Summit is the most noteworthy brand in this category. There is quite a lot of selection from general camping needs to specific high quality sleeping systems (sleeping bags and inflatable pads). Black Diamond headlamps and trekking poles. There are tents, but I can't remember the brands specifically offhand. Ultralight dry sacks and heavier duty dry sacks to pair with the boats. There are even Mountain House and Peak Refuel dried meals. Clothing galore, to include lots of casual short sleeve button downs, camo patterns, lightweight full cover fabrics for fishing under the hot sun, and a great array of winter jackets and pants. Some major brands are Fjällräven, Sitka, Outdoor Research, Mystery Ranch. A huge assortment of hats. Shoes and sandals are of course a given. This includes my personal favorite shoe brand Topo Athletic. My review is non-exhaustive, and this place is unexpectedly huge inside. A relatively recent addition is spirits and beer available to drink while you browse the selection (free of charge, I might add). Nothing like a little alcohol to lower the purchasing inhibitions! The store owner, Garrett, is a great guy and easy to talk to about anything regarding gear and the great outdoors. In particular, I used this store to help outfit me for my Appalachian Trail hike and his camping experience came in handy for bouncing ideas off of. Absolutely worth a visit!

UPDATE: I waited over a year before re-visiting and updating this review. As of today, I would…read moreabsolutely NEVER suggest that anyone use this repair shop. EVER. When my husband and I went out of our way to drive through Lubbock in an attempt to get our RV either fixed or totaled after a year of waiting on an estimate. I naturally sent my husband to go talk to the service manager, Kyle Bovee, so that I would not be arrested for my reaction. Kyle Bovee was extremely friendly to my husband and stated that he was "more than willing" to help us resolve this issue and he was "willing to do whatever it took". We spent 2 days working with our insurance agent, Kyle Bovee and emptying our RV. THE MOMENT WE LEFT TOWN, Kyle Bovee stopped replying, stopped helping and refused to get our insurance company what they needed. In the long run, all he had to do was state that they were unable and ill equipped to perform the work required....he could have worked with a manufacturer to get estimates from them or literally any repair shop that has any large rig capabilities. However, he chose to ignore us and cause over a year of stress and anger. In the end, we ended up having to go through our insurance company just to have them FORCE camping world to work with the manufacturer to get estimates...just to get it totaled. IN ADDITION, they had already accepted the insurance money and were just sitting on it....no communication, no plan to repair...just took the money and let everything sit there. To top it off, they also "misplaced" our motorhome and couldn't find it for over a day. The entire operation is a joke. In total, once we actually got the process moving by having the insurance company force their hands, it took all of 2 weeks to get the RV totaled....after OVER A YEAR. Kyle Bovee didn't even assist with this process and stopped returning the insurance company's call as well. Luckily, someone working under Kyle Bovee was willing to help and actually do what was right. Like I said, I waited over a year to pass before I updated this review to ensure that I still felt the same way...and it still makes me angry. I genuinely hope that Kyle Bovee has been fired and has found his proper home working in fast food or something along those lines. INITIAL REVIEW: I would leave no stars if that was an option. We delivered our motorhome to them just shy of 1 year ago to be repaired...STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED AN ESTIMATE. I have been told over and over that I'll have it in a few days and still nothing. The original service manager left or was fired somewhere in this process and they completely dropped the ball on our unit....to the point where they literally couldn't find it for a few days. They did find it, but only after I got my insurance agent involved who has been trying to work with them directly on my behalf. After this, they tried to tell us that they did not have any insurance or damage information so they needed to start over and get us an "accurate quote". Which I STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED. They are now ghosting both of my and my insurance agent's calls, emails, etc. Even requests to speak with management are going unanswered. I can't wait to be passing through there in a few weeks and surprise them in person. I hope they're ready.
