Our room was a kind size room and though smaller, it was not cramped AT ALL! Yes, very ride of that old dresser! Who uses them any way? A lot of convenient charging ports! The bathroom GREAT with raised toilet! I'm 6ft 2"so that's HUGE accommodation! Even though there were a lot of kids, the hotel was quiet... the breakfast is DELICIOUS! Try the pancakes! This is a perfectly fine, reasonably-priced hotel, located just off the highway. The room was small but clean. Free self-parking around the outside of the building. The staff was very friendly. Amenities include a pool table in the lobby, an enclosed swimming pool, and a small fitness room. There is also an ok free continental breakfast (with a make-your-own pancake machine, believe it or not) and self-serve free tea and coffee available 24/7. There is also a Golden Corral located next to the hotel. I will leave it to you to decide if that is a good or horrifying thing. If you very wisely decide to skip the Corral, much better options are located downtown, about 10 minutes away. Would I stay here again? Sure. read more

Essentially what you are getting here is the bottom line Hilton brand. It's clean. It's small. It's no frills. The front desk guy was friendly. Essentially these are hostels without multiple roommates and shared showers. Perhaps Hilton will go to that level next. If you plan to spend under $120/night, this is what you can expect, so don't complain. Paper thin walls, so hedge your bets that you don't get frisky or violent neighbors. No bed side lights, limited outlets. It is what it is. I don't stay in them often for a reason. The cast of characters is always a bit frightful as well. read more

I wish I could give more stars. This hotel is awesome. The front desk staff were unbelievably helpful. They were so friendly and accommodating! The room was spotless, there was a great heated pool, a pool table, and a very generous lobby in which we could gather with our group. It was a hockey tournament, and they can be a right pain in the a$$. They had everything planned, had clear rules, and were absolutely not tyrants about anything. They were delighted to have us there, and we ended up spending a lot of time in the lobby. They kept helping, even when we ordered food to the lobby. The bed was comfortable, the sheets and blankets clean. The temperature control in the room worked immediately and accurately. I can't say enough good about this place. The rooms are small, the breakfast was as expected, but it was plentiful, hot, and on time. This is a great place to spend a night. read more

Highly disappointed. This is in the Hilton brand?!?! Too small room, uncomfortable chair and bed. Only SHOWERS even if the website has tub/ showers. The breakfast bar is below average so didn't use it the 2nd morning. If you don't watch movies or sports, good luck since choices are limited. No weather channel even. No freezer in fridge. Minimal items, must be aimed at a younger demographics that haven't experienced lots of other better places. Does have gym and pool, but only has ice machine on first floor and get the bucket without a top. Glad my stay wasn't on my dime. read more

I stay in Fort Wayne for business about once a month and I usually stay at this Tru by Hilton. Are there nicer hotel properties (Hilton or other) in Fort Wayne? Of course, but Tru is marketed as a value / budget brand. The reason I keep coming back to this Tru comes down to one thing: The Staff!!! The crew at this hotel are some of the nicest people in the business. They must have good ownership as I have seen the same familiar faces at the front desk for many years. They always go out of their way to accommodate last-minute changes or even strange requests like the time I had to park a motorcycle trailer here for a few days while I conducted my business around the city. The rooms are clean, the public areas are well-maintained and they have a decent little gym. I don't even look at other properties whenever I am coming back to Fort Wayne for business. read more

Let me start by saying the room quality was good. It was clean, and the staff was polite. My issue, however, and the reason for the two stars was the check in and checkout experience. My son and I were in town one night for a hockey tournament. Upon checking in, I was given a list of "don'ts" that I was to abide by: Only one room card. Apparently they didn't trust my ability to keep my 16 year old son under control. No loud noises after 10. Not sure who you've had stay here before, but we were asleep by 10. Its not like there is anything to do at the hotel other than the weight room anyway. The desk also told me they would not charge the card I used to book the room until checkout in case I wanted to pay cash. So upon checkout, I paid cash and they still charged my card not just the room rate but the room plus incidentals. When I asked why, they gave me a song and dance answer and said the charge would be refunded in a day or so and if it wasn't to contact my bank. This essentially puts the responsibility for getting my money back, on me. I called the customer service number two days after my stay as the charge is still on my card, and they said the charge would be refunded in a few days. So my issues isn't really with the physical hotel itself, although it really didn't have much to offer other than a bed. But do NOT tell me I can pay cash, and then charge my card at the same time. Nice Hilton; right off the expressway. Unique vibes; geared toward younger people and people who like bright colors and trendy furniture. Rooms were quiet enough; yet not quite enough for me to give a 5-star review. I needed to get some work done and didn't really have a great place to do it. The bed was a little on the soft side. Yet, overall, I'd stay here again - only small stuff - and this Hilton is solidly above average for attention, easy access, and cleanliness. read more

If you are a day over 50, DO NOT STAY HERE! This is a hotel for The Cool Kids. Bright colors and sleek, modern furniture abound. My first clue was the desk clerk. He was wearing jeans and a tshirt. The tshirt had cute saying about the hotel. The pool looked nice but there were several sports teams staying there so it was busy with a lot of teenagers. The bed was really comfortable. All of the furniture was comfortable. However the chair had a little tray on it for, well, I don't know what it was for but it was tipped forward so it was unusable. Breakfast during Covid was pathetic. Cereal. The closets were powder coated pipes. There were several hooks for clothing and stuff. Small fridge an ironing board nice additions. For $150 I would not stay at Tru again. read more

Stopped here yesterday evening for a quick stay well passing through town on business. Was very well received by the man at the counter and given a very nice room on the third floor. it was quiet enough while there was still a little bit of freeway noise in the background but I am pretty used to after many years of travel. This was a unique experience so by that measure I guess Hilton is getting what they set out for. Put as simply as possible, if you pack as many stereotypes about what (supposely) makes millennials happy about freedom/happiness/life and mix in a GIANT heaping bowl of corporate wokeness marketing then you have Tru by Hilton. As a GenXer, it made me laugh. I'm not sure if Hilton is attempting to be intentionally ironic here or if this is seriously what passes for a "your stay, your way!" hotel. The marketing research must know something...but if you are used to a Hampton for example, then Tru is going to feel as a bit of a shock to your system. Staff was wearing T shirts that say "Check into Different" and "Disrupt with a Smile". AYFKM Hilton??? That should be the type of tosh on the internal marketing memos and C-suite Powerpoints, not the attire of the staff! "Hey look at us, we're disrupting" is the exact type of crap I want to get AWAY from on vacation, not be reminded of. I can see it is different, not advanced calculus here. Now all that said, it has echoes of the Hilton brand. Everything is bright and colors like teal and yellow are prevalent, they have that gray color laminate floor like you see everywhere at Home Depot. Minimalist furnishings for the rooms and lobby (and halls) and weird angles and chairs are everywhere. If you need to charge 50 mobile phones at once, stop by the lobby since you are in luck! Things like a salt water pool and a "mood" knob for controlling the music volume, filtered water dispenser with "number of trees saved" counter (or something like that) and a pool table in the lobby are quite different. The weight room was really good, diverse equipment and open 24 hours (nice touch). They fold towels in the lobby and the front desk looks like the Hudson News counter at the airport. Breakfast is what you have come to expect for the Hilton brand. Overall...I get it, I really do. Have to stay relevant in the corporate hotel biz (what with the VRBO and Airbnbs out there). It just all feels soooooo forced. But the stay was fine and the staff was nice. We would stay here again as a change of pace. read more

The hotel is just OK. If you are the "bare minimum" type of person, then this is the place for you. It is very clean. The staff is very helpful and nice. The breakfast in the morning is convenient. The room: beds are hard. The work deals are like dorm room student desks. I didn't feel like I was working on business but rather a school project when I was using the desk. No microwave. No coffee machine. No pen/paper. I do like the body wash scent. The highway noise is a bit loud in the mornings. Overall a cheap stay. I wouldn't recommend if you are looking for a comfy and luxurious stay. This is strictly for convenience. read more

I stay at a lot of locations all over. I love staying at a Hilton. This one did not disapoint. The design is Scandinavian. Think IKEA. And I love it. Everything has a place. Everything has a function. Pool. Gym. Mini mart open 24/7. Complimentary continental breakfast. I'll be back to this one. So. The room. Really neat. Love the decor. Minimalist living at its best. If you want any luxury, don't stay here. The rooms are small and accommodations are sparse. There is one single small lamp at the end of a board aka countertop. The rest of the lighting is can lights right over you when you lay in bed. They shine right in your face and are uncomfortable to sit under. No light beside the bed, no closet, no coffee maker, no microwave, no drawers, no ice bucket, one luggage rack over the air unit to put your suitcase on; unfortunately we had more than one suitcase (they suggest you put your suitcase on the floor under the bed.) The breakfast was acceptable but the coffee was horrible. I went to a gas station for real coffee. On the plus side, the rooms were clean and there was a tiny refrigerator. This hotel is not worth the price. read more

Wanted to stay here ever since it was built and upon staying one night for our staycation we were neither impressed or "Wowed"! True to their word of paying homage to the millennium era you walk into a clean, straight line, geometric, think all things IKEA environment. From the lobby, to the gym, to the uniforms On The employees, it's almost an unwelcoming feeling. Staff is the usual friendly version of themselves and helpful when asked a question or calling the front desk from your room. Rooms are bare and cold since the flooring is vinyl instead of carpet. It's smaller than what I'm used to when we travel and harder to get accustomed to without a dresser, nightstands, an ice bucket, closet, coffee maker or microwave. There are, however, two luggage racks and pegs on a wall to hang your items. There isn't an iron or ironing board, guess those millennials like wrinkly clothes, and instead of a desk there is a rolling tray table, think hospital table, that's slides over your bed. Great lighting with a 100 USB outlets which is nice if you have a few people in the room and each had a couple of phones, tablets etc to plug in. The lobby also has about 200 places to plug these items in with tables and places to sit to use your devices. The tv was extremely huge and cable offered all the pay per view channels complimentary. The beds are soft and for someone that has back issues this posed a terrible nights sleep but this comes with staying in a hotel. The pillows are all down and I needed a few more to use for sitting up and using that tray table. Bedding is bleak and thin and I also asked for an extra blanket which was super heavy and felt like a Brillo pad but it did the trick and kept me warm. The bathrooms are very bare. No toiletries here, instead there are tubes of shampoo etc mounted on the wall that requires hulk like strength to squeeze the smallest trickle of thick liquid out to wash your hands or larger up with lotion. Two measly towels sat on the one shelf along with washcloths and a hand towel. There was a blow dryer that hung on a peg that worked great. No bathtub here because apparently millennials don't like baths but the water was hot and water pressure good. The shower head was extremely high on the wall and I couldn't reach it to reposition it so I had to stand with my nose up against the wall to get the water. Very awkward I must admit. The pool is smaller and there wasn't a hot tub. Again the patio area was scattered with plastic IKEAA chairs and tables in bold bright colors. There was a long bench that had cushions that were comfortable though. My daughter swam but I didn't since there was about a 2" ring of black scum along the wall of the pool. Disgusting. I made sure she took a shower when we were done. The gym was small with huge tv's on the wall. A couple of treadmills and weights. Ice maker on the first floor only and cups for you to use along with a refillable water bottle station that displayed how many were saved by refilling your bottle. Lobby was splattered with IKEA furniture and bright bold colors on the walls with cubbies and shelves filled with games and a large pool table in the middle. A 24/7 convenance shop if you get the munchies and a coffee area open 24/7 too. Coffee not so great and not so hot either. I'd pass and go to Starbucks around the corner. Even a gas station would have better, more hot coffee than TRU. Breakfast is complimentary and I have to say was very good. Hot, fresh, plenty of options and easy to use their waffle maker and toaster. Lots of options for adults and kids alike. The waffles are like little boats and they have a plethora of options to fill those sweet waffles up with. I can't say that I'd stay again but it's nice for Fort Wayne to have another hotel option. read more

My wife and I stayed two nights at the Tru Hotel in Fort Wayne, Indiana, in early October 2021 while visiting for a wedding. This was our second time staying at this hotel and we would recommend it. It is conveniently located near an interstate, restaurants etc. It was very clean, the staff was friendly, the breakfast was pretty good, and the workout room was nice. Fun fun fun...and clean plus comfortable. All I ask for in a hotel. Quirky design with cheerful color scheme. Mix of modern with industrial design layered into a travel based schematic. Nice thought to promoting social interaction in common spaces and concentrate on sleep in the rooms. Community areas feature variety of hang-out locations from group tables to comfy solo seats to charge station work pods to exercise room, and even a pool. Rooms minimalist and designed to feel clean and comfortable. Ft Wayne location staff was super friendly and greeted up with sincerity every time we returned to lobby. Love the "Stay hydrated" goody bag. Designed to be a "best stop" instead of traditional hotel drab. Good job, Hilton! read more
