Gym not recommended = TRU FIT charging me $335 a month ! every time I would try and talk to a manager "in a meeting " or "nobody was there at the moment because they take 3 hour lunches supposedly " I kept calling and an employee hung up on me after stating his manager is always in a meeting. (You can't cancel over the phone it must be in person) So finally I was able to talk to them last month and they told me it was taken care of , I signed paper work and still getting charged today . So I put a stop to charges, Filed a complaint and reported to BBB ! I'm done with them!! read more

You're telling me this Trufit has 3 floors but can't provide enough weights for all of the quipment? Also there's only a limited amount of equipment for chest/ arms and only 1 equipment of each. There should be multiple equipment so people aren't waiting so much for only 1 of the machines. read more

SCAMMERS!! They will make you sign documents telling you one price about a membership and then later will say they have no paperwork and start charging absurd amounts to your bank account. And then they will keep hanging up on you when you try and resolve it. The bank had to block them from all of the FRAUDULENT charges. They only refund you after you threaten to sue them. GO ANYWHERE ELSE!!! read more

The gym is excellent, it's huge but they don't have a good variety of classes available. Other Truefit locations have many more classes to choose from, I feel like this one mainly has cardio (EVERYTHING!) Also another issue for me is sanitation. 95% of the people who use the machines NEVER clean them after. That's obviously not the gym's fault but I feel like they should have someone going around and constantly cleaning machines. They're covered in sweat and all other sorts of liquids. It's so gross! As previously stated in other reviews beware of hiring trainers! They use high pressure sales tactics and don't clearly communicate the contracts with you. Wanted a 6 month contract and they ended up signing me up for 12 months. I moved and I still got billed for months of service I did not receive! Not fun to have a bill of $900+ and not receive any service. read more

Tru-Fit is one of my favorite gyms that I've belonged to. The staff is awesome, both at the desk and at the kid's care area. My son asks if we can go to the gym so that he can go to the kid's care! I love all the natural light in their locations and that there are lots of us "normal" non-gym-rat people just trying to be healthy. Everyone is definitely welcome, and that has not been my experience at other gyms in the valley. One of the things I love is the group workout classes -- they offer a ton of them at a lot of times. I wish they would keep their online schedule more up to date as I can never be sure if the instructor listed is the one teaching, or if the class has changed or been canceled. Also, the women's facilities on Ware are always a mess. Overall though, I really love and use my membership at Tru-Fit! read more

Overall, this is a very nice gym. I am able to get my workout in and out of there very smoothly with no trouble. I also have to mention this gym is very clean compared to other gyms. The staff here is great, Diego Alvarez helped me out with a great deal on my TruFit membership, highly recommend him. Great job! read more

TruFit uses deceptive business practices and will try to rip you off any chance they get. I go to school in Austin, but I decided to get a membership here for the 2 months I would be here in the summer. The person I spoke to rushed me through the membership creation process and assured me that if I canceled I should not get charged for my third month nor the gym enhancement fee. At the end of July I submitted my class schedule and tuition bill to prove I am a student in Austin. Initially, they denied my request because of a small fine print on my schedule saying my classes were not confirmed yet, and I had to do some pushing to be able to resubmit an updated version of the document. Eventually, it was approved but there was a caveat attached to it. Apparently the gym has a 30 day policy where you are responsible for any charges within that time period after you cancel. So, at the end of August I will have to pay almost $100 for a membership I already canceled and can no longer use because of my location. Had the gym employee told me about this 30 day policy I would have submitted my documents much sooner, but either by ignorance or intentional malice, he led me to believe that I would only be charged for the two months I was there. I spoke to a manager at this location (who, although unhelpful, I must admit was respectful) and a person from corporate who both said they could not waive the fee for me. Because one of their employees deceptively misled me and did not make me aware of a policy that would clearly affect me, I will have to pay $100 that could otherwise be going toward my school textbooks. This is absolutely ridiculous and unacceptable, but unfortunately there is nothing I can do about it. This 30 day policy is obviously in place to squeeze people out of more money after they cancel their contract. If you are looking for a gym I would suggest you look at all your options, especially if you are looking for a temporary membership before moving or going to school. read more

This is the WORST GYM to be a part of! After my sons cancer diagnosis, I tried making several attempts to cancel my membership. I explained that I was not able to go to the gym to cancel due to in patient hospital stays. They said that my sons diagnosis was not a medical reason to cancel because it was not MY Diagnosis. The only way to be released from my membership was if a relocation happened. Since then I have submitted my cancellation as we have moved away for further treatment. I continue to get charged. I contacted Lori Garcia the manager at the Ware Location to discuss the continued charges and she was rude and kept over talking me. She said they are a company that follows policies regardless of the situation! The lack of empathy and need for greed is a TRU depiction of this companies ethics, values and morals! NEVER will I join this gym and I will make it a point that they lack sensitivity and will give you the HARDEST TIME cancelling... EVEN if your child is diagnosed with CANCER! read more

I came to the McAllen area on military orders. I informed them that I was on orders and did not know exactly when I would be leaving, being that it was a deployment, I could be moved around. I was told that would be ok as long as I had orders, which I gave them a redacted copy of. I am now looking at going back home still on the same orders, and they will not release me from my contract. I do not recommend this gym for any service members that come here on a deployment. They will take advantage of you, when it comes time for you to leave and will not release you from your contract. read more

Location of gym is reason why I go to this Tru Fit. Other than that, the women's locker room is always dirty (I go before and after work). I've also noticed that there are locks in lockers that do not have anything. Tru Fit does not break the locks and remove them from the lockers. Also, the restroom in the locker room is always smelling very bad. A restroom, of course, does not have a pleasant odor, but there's something wrong with the drainage here that you could even smell it if you stand outside where the elevator is at. This is not good at all for people's health. Inspection is expired as well, in which I've also reported to the city. Looking out for others who want a real review. read more

Do yourself a favor and use Tru Fit on Conway. Raul the manager is arrogant and disrespectful. The showers are lukewarm or freezing cold, never warm. CC the exercise class manager is not helpful and imperious. Don't waste your time here. read more
