Super Kiwi Shake, Osmanthus Coconut, and Premium Grapefruit Shake.
    Vonny W.

Introducing some new flavors and summer drinks from Tru Tea! They'll be doing a summer BOGO on these beverages from now till June 19th, so this is the best time to try it out! SUPER KIWI SHAKE: This is made with real kiwi fruit that you can truly taste and feel (like no kidding, not throat tickles, which is uncomfortable but affirmative proof!) Though I got this at their regular sweetness level, it was actually perfect - tasting like golden kiwi almost. I love the addition of the lemon slices which added a touch of brightness and made the drink super aesthetic (4.3 out of 5.0 stars, I love the taste, I just can't drink it because of my throat tingle). OSMANTHUS COCONUT: If you're looking for a more unique and topical beverage, this is the one! It's very smooth to drink thanks to the coconut milk but then you get a contrast in texture from the osmanthus jelly which had a good chew to it. I'm not usually a huge coconut fan, but maybe it's growing on me 'cause I quite liked this. Again, this was ordered at their regular sugar levels and though trending on the sweeter side, it actually worked perfectly (4.9 out of 5.0 stars) PREMIUM GRAPEFRUIT SHAKE: Another refreshing option for you! It is very strong in grapefruit notes without being bitter. The regular sweetness level was actually perfect. Again, great use of fruit slices to make an aesthetic drink! (5.0 out of 5.0 stars)

Parking is limited because it's in one of the busier plazas on hwy 7, but it's super cute and has a claw machine inside! The drinks are priced a little higher than other places and the variety is not too bad. The mango tea is delicious and probably the best thing we ordered. The milk tea slush isn't bad, good flavor. It's a good alternative to the other bbt shops around

Tru Coffee Boba: milk tea w/ fresh tapioca and coffee jelly ($4.99 L)
    Jason C.

I find their roasted milk tea to be better than most bubble tea stores. My go-to is usually their double roasted milk tea with barley. I find their normal sugar level is quite sweet so you may want to consider less sweet if you're getting toppings. I wish they do 50% sugar level as I find that to be the sweet spot. I tried their Tru Coffee Boba which is milk tea w/ fresh tapioca and coffee jelly, currently a promo ($4.99 for Large). I was really excited to give their coffee jelly a try and it did not disappoint. Really great combination even though I'm not big on tapioca. I opted in to 70% sweet level, regular ice and found it a bit too sweet for me (probably bc of the tapioca). Their drinks are a bit more pricier but the flavour is definitely there so it's worth the extra cost. The staff are quite friendly as well so definitely go check out their location.

I only come to tru tea for one drink because once I find something good, it's hard to explore other drinks but it's not a bad thing LOL. I order the créme de la créme and this drink is a dessert in a cup!! The cream part tastes like a cake icing/cream. I know it sounds filling or maybe even too much but it's GOOD! The mixture between the sweet cream and milk tea go so well together. I would say this drink it's a heavier drink so it's not as "refreshing" as just a milk tea or even fruit Tea but as like a dessert, highly recommend!

Finally got to try TRU tea Loved both flavours equally it was so refreshing despite the low sugar level we got! They have a variety of flavours from milk tea, slush, fruit tea and desserts!

    Taro and Taro
    Michelle K.

The packaging of TRU tea is what caught my eye on Instagram so I decided to put aside my regular chatime and see what the hype was about. I ordered the Taro and Taro with taro tapioca. I love taro boba in general so when I saw three taros in the name of this drink I was like say no more. Unlike other taro milk teas that I've gotten in the past, I can't customize the sugar level only the ice level. The wait was quite long, about 15 to 20 mins and there were only 2 people in front of me. When I got my drink I was initially disappointed cause it did not have any hint of purple at all! I thought I got the wrong drink at first but nope it was the right one. I took the first sip and couldn't taste taro at all. I can tell that the tapioca was taro but it was super mild. The rest of the drink just tastes like a creamy milk. Very good milk but not taro in anyway. I really really wanted to like it but it wasn't what I expected at all given the name of the drink. I would say that if you're a taro fan then skip the Taro and Taro and try some other drink. Other than that, I did see other cool interesting flavors on the menu so I'll be back to try those.

Edit: I won't be visiting this location ever again. I've been a loyal patron, I've redeemed over 8 cups of drinks and still have over 5 cups to redeem. I am EXTREMELY disappointed with the service I JUST received. I can put up with your drinks not being as tasty as before. I can put up with your drinks being watered down, but I CANNOT AND WILL NOT put up with bad customer service and the willingness to accommodate and customize drinks for patrons. I'm not a once in a blue moon patron, I'm someone that visits regularly. I'm someone that people come to ME and ask me for advice and suggestions on what to get at what bbt shop. And from now on, I am boycotting you like I did with The Alley. Unacceptable service. I've never had an issue with ordering my lychee dragon fruit without that slice of lime. But TODAY. I was told that it's NOT an option. That they CANNOT and will not customize that drink for me. That's POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. Don't tell me that two slices of lime will make my drink a completely different drink. RIDICULOUS ________________________________ 4.25 stars - there were two reasons why I deducted 0.75 stars: 1) Parking at this plaza during lunch/dinner time is a pain - people, it's ONE WAY and turning on your emergency vehicle lights doesn't mean you're waiting for parking spots on your left AND on your right. LEARN HOW TO DRIVE. 2) once they get backlogged in the store, the wait is forever. MINUS those two minor set backs, their drinks (in Markham/Richmond Hill is pretty much the best - today is Nov 4th. I haven't come across any others that tasted this good in the area. Their milk teas are smooth, silky, and milky (and I'm not even a fan of milky stuff at all)! My favorite milk tea here is their Fresh Taro Tru Tea (with sweet purple rice) - I'm very particular when it comes to taro milk tea - i'll order it once from every store, and then stop ordering it - i find that most places...make it very nasty (watery, tastes like powder, and way too sweet even without sugar). Like Yang Teashop and Coco, it's made with fresh taro mash & sweet purple rice!! But the thing that made us fall in love was their fruit teas! My favourite one is their mango green tea - bits of mango (yes, real mango) with a couple slices of thinly sliced lime mixed with green tea. Even if you leave it overnight in the fridge, it still tastes as amazing as when it was just made!

Double roasted milk tea with NO sugar, ugh, except for the loads of sugar in the condensed milk they use. Way too sweet for my taste!
    Robert H.

If you like your milk tea with NO sugar, look elsewhere as they use condensed milk with loads of sugar! I asked for no sugar and after one sip, I could feel my blood sugar go through the roof! The staff should be trained better. If someone asks for no sugar, it shouldn't take a genius to figure out that the person doesn't want sugar, whether it's from additional syrup or from any other ingredients used, in this case the condensed milk. Why not give a simple warning letting customers know when ordering that the milk tea is pre-mixed with sweetened condensed milk? After I got my drink and questioned them on why it's so sweet, their response was that they have to add the sweetened milk or it would taste too bitter and affect the flavour. Some people like their tea bitter! What about people who are diabetic and can't take sugar? Why don't you let the customers decide how they want their milk tea made? I don't recall McDonalds forcing people to get pickles on their Big Macs because clearly it makes the burger taste better, ugh, except for the people that don't like pickles... For a place that offers healthier low-calorie versions of tapioca, can't imagine why they don't have sugar-free or sugar-reduced alternatives for their milk tea. At least have an option to use cream or even regular milk (although that has some natural sugar, way less than the sludge that comes from a can). Hope they can make this change as the roasted tea flavour itself was quite good.

    Taro & taro drink
    Samantha C.

First time trying this bubble tea shop in Richmond Hill. The shop itself is cute with modern decor and fairly big in comparison to other shops (can easily fit 30 people). We ordered the taro & taro drink (around $7), which comes with taro tapioca. It's only available in regular size and you can't adjust the sugar level. We waited around 15 minutes to get our drink, which seemed pretty long, and were kind of disappointed with the taste. It pretty much tastes like whole milk with taro tapioca. There wasn't a lot of fresh taro, unlike other shops that carry fresh taro bubble tea. The taro tapioca was pretty good - chewy and tasted like real taro. But it wasn't enough to get us to come back and order this drink :( We haven't tried their other fruity drinks, so we're hopeful those are better!

With so many foreign bubble tea brands entering the market, is difficult to find one that started domestically. Look no further, TRU Tea is your answer. The Deluxe Purple Yam was filled with a variety of ingredients; including purple yam, cheese foam and of course tapioca. Surprising, the assortment of ingredients worked very well together. Wow! The fruit tea here are so refreshing! I got their special lychee dragon fruit tea and on the first sip it blew my mind! The chunks of fruit in the drink just make the drink that much better! Come check this place out! They have great tasting fruit teas!

Came here to grab some dessert and enjoyed this matcha treat very much. They also have some great slices of cake.

    Strawberry peach fusion with tapioca
    Kelvin K.

I finally got to stop by to try Tru tea after hearing about it from my friends. I came at around 12:15 noon on a Saturday and there were already a few people waiting for their drinks and only one worker. The menu looked super interesting with non traditional boba items such as their new cookie butter drinks. I do have a milk allergy so I was sad to see that there were no options for substitutes such as oat milk. I ended up ordering the strawberry peach fusion, which only comes in a large. As usual, I got 70% sugar and less ice with tapioca. The drink itself is quite expensive given that I couldn't get regular and the tapioca was extra. I ended up waiting for around 10 minutes for the drink to be done. The interior is very cute with lots to look at so the wait was pleasant. The drink was super refreshing with huge chunks of peaches inside and getting less sugar was the right call. I can tell that high quality ingredients were used. I'll definitely be back more often once they include milk substitute options so I can try their milk teas.

Commerce Gate is famous for being packed with countless bubble tea shops. Most are famous franchises, such as Chatime, CoCo, Tiger Sugar, Yoyo , etc. Now Tea seems so different among them. I had never seen this store before visiting Commerce Gate. After Googling it, I found that it is also a franchise, but it operates only in Ontario, with three stores in total. Being low-profile alone does not qualify it as a hidden gem. That just means it does not spend much on marketing. What really impressed me was the flavour of its bubble tea. We tried the Milk Green Tea and Milk TieGuanYin, both with bubbles. The tea flavour was strong and full of the unique aromas of green and oolong tea, but it was also smooth going down. The bubbles had been boiled for the perfect amount of time: not so briefly that they had hard centres and not so long that they became too soft. They were very chewy, among the best bubbles I have ever had. The inside of the tea shop is spacious and has plenty of tables and seats. The lighting is bright, and I always see customers working or studying there. Other tea shops usually have very few seats and dim lighting; basically, they do not want to give you a Starbucks vibe and let you sit for too long. Another interesting fact: if you come to Commerce Gate early in the morning, before 11:00, Now Tea is the only tea shop that is open because it also serves coffee. The drinks are also less expensive than those at more famous brands. I guess they save a lot of money on marketing: lower prices and higher quality. I tried this store for the first time this week, and we have already been here three times. As a tea lover, I ask everyone reading this review: you must come here and try their drinks!

Reviewing 2oz of Coffee (located inside Now Tea)…read more This coffee counter is known for doubling up their espresso shots in their lattes, so get ready to be well caffeinated. I arrived right when they opened, and there were already a few people waiting in line. The menu is small & curated, focusing more on the coffee than specialty flavours. However, they do have a good selection of flavoured lattes. I wasn't able to see which beans they used for the espresso, but overall, their roast seems to be a bit darker/stronger, which balances out a sweeter latte well. I tried the iced biscoff and pistachio lattes. The biscoff is slightly sweeter and nuttier - definitely my fave of the two. The pistachio latte, in contrast, was disappointing. It was $1 more than the biscoff latte, looked nothing like the photo on the counter, and didn't taste much of pistachio at all. Although it looks like a separate counter, I realized that you can order drinks from either "shop" from their one main counter. I also found it a bit confusing to figure out the hours of operation, as Google said 2oz of Coffee opens at 11am, but the Now Tea shop isn't open until 12pm.

I typically hit Kinton Ramen in this plaza, fetch food, and leave. It was nice to have already parked for two hours. I got here at noon. There were plenty of spots available. After doing a quick look at the bubble tea places to choose from, I chose TP Tea. There's one closer to my home, across the border (it sounds fancy) in Scarborough. I needed to check out a different location. TP stands for Taiwan Professional. I still think of my former intern who disliked a software tester at our workplace who creeped her out. She nicknamed him TP, which stood for Toilet Paper.... haha! Anyway, I digress. I walked in and there were two staff members. A young man came over to help me with my order. The Thai milk tea looked so good in the poster on the door that I went with it. I couldn't get it without any sugar, so my order became less sugar and ice. I also got tea jelly. I had never heard of tea jelly before. Tea jelly in tea? Hey, why not? I paid with a credit card. I tipped and tapped. I also signed up for TP Tea's points program. You simply enter your phone number and sign in through the touchpad each visit. You can get free toppings, free drinks, and more. It didn't take long for my order to be ready. This store is deep and narrow. You can't sit down and enjoy your drink. You also can't use the washrooms. The woman behind the counter asked if I needed a bag. I politely declined and said that I was going to drink it now, which made her laugh and nod. I wished both folks a great day and headed to my car. The Thai milk tea ws excellent. If you like strong tea, you want to come here. The milk was perfect to balance out the tea. I loved the tea jelly, which added a cool flavour dimension to my tastebuds that I have never experienced. It was awesome and I got a decent amount of it! Less sugar worked out nicely. My drink was a touch sweet. Perfect! I had a great experience. I hope to return to this plaza and get more drinks off the menu. (463)

I peeled off one of them and noticed Song Tea. Interesting. My quest was to find a Song Tea and see what the difference was between the drinks at the two places. I wasn't interested in why the name was covered up. It's not really my business, but it did spark my curiosity to try Song Tea. I did a search and found that this location in Richmond Hill was the closest to me. After running a number of errands a couple of Saturdays ago, I placed an order through Uber Eats for pickup. I ordered the following drinks: - Blue Curacao soda - Pink peach soda I had the former drink at Deer Mango, so I would do the comparison between stores with it. I love carbonated drinks, so I had to get the other one that was available. My order was ready well before I got to the store. Due to the lockdown, it wasn't busy at Times Square. For years, I avoided this area like the plague because it was busy and parking was chaotic. It was the complete opposite when I got there. There was a lone car parked in front of the store. I parked next to it and walked in. The store is cute. I would think that it was much cuter before the pandemic. There was a little whirlpool that was empty. I looked at older photos and it had colour balls and plushies. It looks like the mascot is either a llama or alpaca, which made my day! I talked to the woman behind the counter. She was so friendly. I indicated that I had an Uber Eats order. She pointed at the bag in front of her and said that it was mine. I was thrilled. I thanked her and left with my goodies. I had the drinks when I got home. Let's talk about packaging. So much care went into it. Both my drinks were in a crate in the paper bag with a cool camouflage motif. At this store, I was able to specify that I didn't want any sugar in my drinks. I didn't have that option at Deer Mango. The lowest sugar option was 30%. The small pineapple chunks in the blue curacao drink were yummy. I love this drink so much. It wasn't sweet. It had carbonation. It was pretty. It tasted great! I then had the pink peach drink. It was so good with the small strawberries. The peach flavour worked well with the strawberry bits. I loved the fizziness. It also made me feel like it was summer drinking this beverage. I am a huge fan. I haven't dropped by in over a week and have withdrawal symptoms. I will return. (238)
