We looked it over and loved it. We bought it and went on our way. Got back to Maine and it popped a code and the check engine light. We checked the code and it was the cat, no big deal as our county doesn't check emissions. Unfortunately they didn't sticker us, and as we weren't going to have the title before our trip we couldn't register and I had to drive back down and have them sticker it. They finally got the light off by putting 02 spacers, but told the inspector who then refused to sticker it. I leave and by the time I get to Maine again the check engine light is back on. Same code, so it is irritating but not a huge deal. One thing I had noticed driving the jeep was a gasoline smell, but assumed it was due to a known jeep overflow issue. Took our trip, got back, registered it, and took it in for an inspection. IT FAILED HORRIBLY. It failed due to the following plus a few others: - Fuel leak from the tank, only evident when the tank is full and the actual reason for the smell. - All of the axle seals are faulty. - Leaking differential fluid. - Leaking coolant. - Broken water pump. In short, we are now going to have to pay thousands of dollars on top of the 17k we already paid for the vehicle. Unfortunately as it was sold 'as is' we are stuck with it.

Unfortunately, what followed tells a very different story. I'm already paying about $700 out of pocket for solenoid replacements and an oil change because the shop found white sludge in the engine. This is on a car I just bought from this dealership. Their "complimentary" oil change means nothing when the vehicle clearly wasn't properly inspected in the first place. I didn't buy this car blindly. I test‑drove it, asked questions, even had my fiancé on FaceTime asking the salesperson things directly. The moment I reached out about the check‑engine codes the car developed, the communication stopped. No reply, no concern, no accountability. This experience has convinced me to avoid dealerships entirely from now on. If you're considering buying a "certified" used car from them, bring your own mechanic, because their 130‑point inspection feels like nothing more than a sales pitch. Even the manager who finalized my paperwork gave me the same scripted lines about pricing and future repairs. None of it matched the reality of what I'm dealing with now. Prior to one of his visits I had work done to one of my cars and he had no clue after a 25 minute inspection of where the work had been completed. When I have brought my car in for a lease turn in Dave Matthews (son of original owner) always does a quick touch-up as BMW will kill you for the slightest paint chip. The story here goes that a long time ago Matthew's Senior owned a body shop and his son, Dave slowly took over the the point that he is the primary point person on all estimates and repairs. Don't be confused, Dave has one employee and his name is also Dave. They are very good with quotes and have done a great job of fighting with insurance companies to get supplements for unseen damage before tearing off a fender, etc. He also has a state of the art paint booth and as mentioned above, he is amazing at matching highly complicated metallic paint colors and applying an even finish.
