Our family member was…read moreadmitted with a written prior diagnosis for a serious mental health disorder and was not seen by a psychiatrist for the first 50 days of his stay. We were told that the medical staff who are PRNs and therapists, not psychiatrists, did not "see signs" of moodiness and the family member was not reporting symptoms. It was only when the family contacted DHHS was the patient seen by a psychiatrist and prescribed his needed medication. Ironically, one of the reasons our family member developed substance abuse issues is because he had gone off his medication and was self medicating with drugs. So, if mental health issues are a concern, this is not the right place. Additionally, we had almost no support from his therapist. We went 3 weeks without return phone calls and contact with our family was limited to a specific date and time with zero flexibility. It felt like the family involvement was limited to family week which they heavily promote instead of 1:1 check-ins. For $800 per day it felt like a 12 step program in a nice facility. My advice is if you need to send your family member to Cirque Lodge, get the expectations in writing. Their website is purposely vague and for $800 per day it should not be unreasonable to expect weekly calls for updates and the patient to be seen by a medical professional if they have a pre-existing condition. I can only imagine how much more difficult it would be for families who suspect a mental health issue. I would also interview the therapist who will be working with your family member. Ours was awful. We also contacted Cirque Lodge with a formal complaint and request for refund for missed time with the right treatment plan. They declined our request. For our family, it's less about the money and it is more about the shocking lack of mental health awareness. As I asked one of the Cirque leaders "If a patient was admitted with a diagnosis of diabetes would you withhold their insulin until they had a blood sugar crash?" I don't know how it's any different. Fortunately, we have our family member in a better facility now and he is getting the treatment he needs. We are redoing the first 90 days which comes at great expense in both time and money. If you have similar circumstances, I hope our story helps you.

A relative of mine is a current resident there and has been for several months. She is in chronic pain of her sciatic nerve and has so far basically been ignored. She has been to the nearby pain clinic one time with no plan to revisit or resolution for her pain. I have tried to speak to the Nursing Admin and always get voicemail. My calls are never returned. I have left messages for her doctor with the same result. As far as I know, there is no care plan in place for her discharge to an assisted living facility which is her desire and her goal. I live out of state so it is very hard for me to sit back and watch my relative be treated in such a manner. I am looking for another facility as I write this. Take my advice, do NOT let your family stay here. If there were a zero star rating, I would give it zero stars.

However, one shower nurse was very unkind to my mother! She made my mother's stay there and her recovery absolutely miserable! My mother was also treated very badly by the facility leadership. So I have mixed feelings about Stonhendge. And like I said, some of the nurses and physical therapists were just absolute angels to my mom. But some of the staff, including an extremely mean nurse, ruined the whole experience for my mother there. I don't understand why extremely cruel people like this nurse become CNA's? There's so many other (less stressful) occupations out there where you don't have to take your bad attitude out on vulnerable elderly people! WHY?

Every staff member I had contact with was helpful. I think it would be so hard in this industry to not become jaded, but they seem to maintain a level of genuine interest and caring that I was honestly surprised with. Dave was my therapist and was awesome. He's one of the owners, but rather than sitting back, takes a very active role in everything that goes on there, including individual therapy with clients. He was a great mix of fun, professionalism, and genuine caring. The group meetings and instruction from staff members were always very interesting, and supportive. I learned a lot and benefited from being around such empathetic people. Not quite as important, but still nice- the facilities were nice, clean, and well maintained. Being in a difficult situation, any nicety made life a little easier. In a very difficult time of life, the treatment I received here and in their outpatient program really turned things around for me. I'm very grateful to them.

It turns out that evaluation is actually $472. For 45 minutes with a speech therapist blowing bubbles with my kid. Gotta love where health care in America is headed. This place is a joke. Maybe it's worth visiting for other types of rehab, but I strongly recommend against visiting them for delayed speech. I could not be more frustrated. I spoke with the office manager, a really snarky lady in billing, and couldn't get them to budge on the bill. Apparently you get a 40% discount if you pay in cash, but they didn't give me that option either. So I was out almost $500 for one visit. It costs more to meet with a speech therapist at Orem Pediatric Rehab than it does to get an evaluation with a brain surgeon.
