I would highly recommend Truewood for your loved one. My mother started in an assisted living apartment. The staff were very friendly and inclusive. My mother loved the dining room and the meals. It was fun to join in the happy hour every Friday. In time, my mother needed to transition into memory care. The smaller environment and very hands on staff has made the new apartment and environment very easy for my mother to acclimate. The staff tries very hard to engage the residents in social activities and they check in on the residents regularly if they choose to stay in their rooms. My mother feels very safe and loves the friendly people. I am very happy with the staff and cosy home environment that Truewood provides. My mom has been in Truewood by Merrill for just a month. The facility lacks the proper medical staff to distribute meds on a timely manner. My mother has gone without pain medication for several hours past the due time. She uses the call system in each room and the medics are often unresponsive or they come to check what she needs, but doesn't come back. I feel they do not take care of ordering or delivering meds on time. Several people here have complained, but patients get neglected. Mostly due to staff shortage. The residents pay for services they do not receive regularly. Management needs to assure that jobs are covered when someone is sick or doesn't show up. When my mom's blood pressure was extremely high, they told me to call 911 instead of giving her meds. My mom hates it here!! There have been too many times when my mom was neglected. read more

In short this is an extremely positive review of the great people at Willow Park, who accompanied my Mother and our family on a four-year journey through assisted living and memory care. The rooms and the food were very nice. The facility is relatively small which is an advantage in my mind. The space allows the residents to easily get around with a library and multiple sitting areas. The outdoor space is excellent with a beautiful rose garden. However it was clear from my very first tour with Mary Hall-Smith that Willow Park was about people. Unlike other facilities, Mary introduced me to both residents and staff and let those conversations be my guide on whether this was the right place to bring my mom. She was, at the time, in the early stages of dementia and could no longer safely care for herself at home. One of the unique programs at Willow Park is the amazing Bridges program, for people in early stages of dementia, who would likely need Memory Care in the future. In all of the places that I looked, (~ 10), nobody offered or mentioned such a dynamic and practical pre-memory care program. Monica is the heart and sole of the program. When the time came for her to move into Memory Care, Monica and Zach prepared us for event and let us know what to expect and how to deal with my Mom's questions and adjustment. Memory Care was the saddest day of my life, however, the staff proved to me that she would be safe and well cared for. More than that, they became her friends and family. I visited 3+ times a week, but I could spend time with her and didn't need to worry about other issues. If I thought she needed something, it was all quickly taken care of from her medicine, food preferences (ice cream) and entertainment. If I asked questions they knew the answers or would find out by the time I left. Aaron, Linda and Albina should be complimented for leading such a great team in a difficult situation. Most importantly, was the humanity exhibited not only during her final weeks, but also over her entire two years in Memory Care. After she was placed on comfort measures by the hospice team, the staff helped maintain her dignity and looked after her. We got a sense that they truly knew, cared for and loved her as a human being and not just a "resident." As I was saying goodbye to her, it was clear the staff was saying goodbye to her as well. Over her last days they took impeccable care of my Mother and our family. Many thanks to all of the other exceptional people who took the time to know Alice, feed her, keep her safe and truly give her dignity at a time when she was so vulnerable, we compliment Willow Park and their truly wonderful staff, praise you and thank you from the bottom of our hearts. read more

It was my grandmas birthday yesterday, and she is a resident there. My mom sent her groceries, a cake, flowers and chocolate delivered to the facility for her because my mom was out of town. The staff out it all in the staff room and ATE IT!! They put the flowers in their lobby!!! So my grandma got nothing for her birthday. My mom called and they claimed to have no knowledge before they finally admitted they ate it. Wow. You ate an 80 year old ladies birthday cake. How low is that? read more

Weekly something happens there that negatively impacts my grandparents living there. They have been at their worst health since they moved in there because of the poor care they have given them. Not to mention, the staff has stolen thousands of dollars worth of belongings and money from their rooms. The med staff for a period of time was giving my grandpa his Parkinson's meds irregularly causing him to fall repeatedly and end up in the hospital. There is so much more I can list that would show how unprofessional, unorganized, and moronic Willow Park staff really is. On the one good note, my grandparents love the people who help them hands on daily. However, we are currently looking for a new place for them to live where their health will not be put at risk. read more

It is seldom easy to make the move to assisted living after being independent all your life. I can honestly say this move for my dad was still difficult BUT it definitely improved his quality of life. The staff at WP are EXCELLENT - they are attentive and genuinely concerned and interested in their community members. The facility is lovely, the food is good and I always feel welcome when I visit my father. They go out of their way to find out what their residents want and try to make it happen. They have lots of regular activities and outings. Much more than my dad would have ever had available if he had staying in his own house. I'm confident in his care - the nursing staff is attentive and well versed in health issues related to seniors. Thank you for all you do to make life better for families! read more

My mother in law and father in law moved in to Willow Park. The staff was wonderful to them. In June My father in law passed away. Since that time the staff has been really loving with my mother in law! They are AWESOME!!! I can't wait to move there!!!! read more

We moved my in laws into Willow Park almost a year ago! Wow! We cannot express our gratitude for their staff and care enough! The people who work there feel more like family than employees. They treat my in laws with so much love, and compassion. The turnover has been low and we feel so fortunate to have found this "home away from home" for my in laws. Thank you for all you do for us! I visited the Willow Park Senior Living center here in Boise for the first time last week. What a sweet space! I attended a Thursday evening gathering for the residents, and John Young was leading a wonderful presentation about music. Music has been such a wonderful, enriching part of my life, thanks especially to my paternal grandparents and THEIR love of music, so I especially appreciated seeing that the residents of Willow Park were experiencing the magical reminder of music-a truly universal language. It was so special to see that Willow Park has put a loving spirit like John Young in a position to bring an extra dose of love and light into their residents life on a regular basis. How wonderful that these Willow Park residents are having full lives and enjoying community fellowship regularly-so key in Life! I have been meaning to leave a review for a year now, i kept putting it off, but i know someone who works there, and know it has only gotten worse. Long but thorough review....Supporting this establishment is like supporting labor in China! Residents pay anywhere from 4,000 to 7,000 a month depending on cares, yet the company never staffs accordingly. When residents call for assistance they are told someone will be there in 5 to 10 minutes, which isn't realistic considering that on a typical day they have one care giver on the bottom floor and one on the top. If the caregiver is in one room providing cares, we can't expect them to drop all cares and scurryon over to the resident that just called. So for all those busy times of the day, breakfast and morning routines, lunch, and dinner and bed routines, residents can be waiting and staff gets constantly talked down to because they took so long. Yet the management is aware and always says they intend to sta ff more. Yet they have been understaffed for years!!! They think it is normal to expect employees to work doubles (16hr shifts)...mind you that are understaffed. This means the two legally required 10 minute breaks per 8 hours, ARE IMPOSSIBLE. If you are a female, forget changing your pad or tampos, ya rarely have time to take yourself to the bathroom. If you work multiple doubles in a row, but can't come in on your day off, they will harrass you, call multiple times, text you, call your family, and worse yet, if ya answer the phone, they guilt you. Yet the one time you may need to call out, it doesn't matter how many shiftsyou covered for them, they will give you the hardest time. They sometimes go as far as to say that they can't have you call out that day. As if they have the right to refuse your call out. They have a point system where you earn points in your favor for covering a shift, and have points against you for calling out, yet they never let you redee m the points you earned. Imagine having your parents live at a place where the people transferring them on an hourly basis are overworked, tired, resentful but hiding it well, and weak. That doesn't sound like a safe environment for physically dependant people to live in. This establishment says they base staffing on care needs, that is not true because they are always understaffed and yet filling more rooms but never staffing more per shift. Evenwhen they hire more, they still have the same number of schedule staff. They do the same lack of staffing for the med techs which means there is an extreme amount of pressure on the people giving out drugs and narcoticsx yet if someone falls, they are expected to get behind their already hectic schedule to attend to that, so residents meds get delayed. Having a degree in the medical field and parents in the healthcare insurance field, we both strongly urge you to keep your parents away, and if you are seeking a job, keep looking elsewhere. There is no work life balance with this place. They will overcharge you/your parents and overwork their employees. Constantly transferring even residents considered skilled nursing who shouldn't be there, so wear and tear on your back, shoulders etc., they don't follow proper transfer as mandated by care meetings, was told to get a gait belt and make a person 2 person transfer, instead belittled employee and said they must be doing it wrong if they cant do it rhemseleves without their back hurting, and ignored what the nurses and phsyical therapist said in the meeting about them being a 2 person at all times unless they want staff needing cares of their own read more
