Horrendous customer service. Offered me a quote with two different options. Said they'd send both quotes for me to review and pick one. Only sent one. Tried to get them to send the other and they refused, saying they'd only do custom quotes. When I explained they had already done a custom quote three hours prior, they still refused and then unsubscribed me from the chat we had going. Come to find out I then read a bunch of reviews from my neighbors who all say they are a horrible company. Weeds everywhere and they lied about treatments they never did (neighbors caught it all on camera). So glad I dodged this one! read more

We have used TruGreen for more than two years and will no longer. Last summer my yard was filled with weeds. After multiple calls they finally agreed to provide services for free until it looked better. This year my front yard looks better but my back yard is terrible. I was home two days ago and watched the man make two swipes of my back yard and leave. I live on an acre. When I try to call the company with the local number provided to me, I get sent to a call center and speak to a person not in my state. She then tells me I will receive a call within 24 hours. That never happened. Do not use this company. Poor customer service, poor business management and supervision. We did our own lawn care last year, and managed to be successful in not being the worst yard in the neighborhood. However, we noticed that several really nice yards in the neighborhood were getting service with lawn service companies. One afternoon in the early spring a Tru Green sales guy was canvassing our neighborhood stopped by and told me about their service and made a lot of promises for what they could do to help. We signed up for the whole gamut of services - pesticide, lawn and tree and shrub. I don't know whether the tree and shrub service worked, and it is too early in the season to tell how the pesticide treatments were working (not a lot of bugs out yet). I can tell you that the lawn treatment didn't work at all. My yard is in worse condition than when Tru Green started servicing. We had them come out 5-6 times and while a few weeds would appear to wilt, the majority seemed unphased by whatever Tru Green was doing. After 2.5 months, we terminated our contract. The final straw was after my husband called to cancel and the sales guy asked him to give them two more weeks to see if they could get the weeds under control. My husband reluctantly agreed. A week later a lawn tech guy showed up, spent about 2-3 minutes in the front yard and then walked to the back yard where he spent less than 2 min. My yard is 1/3 of an acre and it was full of weeds. Why would you spend 5 min on a yard where you know the customer is unhappy and the yard is in awful shape. And for that 5 min service - we were charged $77! No thank you! read more

we have used Tru green for less than one season. I have never had a company jerk us around like Tru Green has. they schedule our service for a certain date and time. we adjust our calendar so we can be here to discuss any yard issues with them. Then, they notify us that they need to cancel. we go thru this 4-6 times before they finally show up. we will be looking for a new service because I cannot continue to be jerked around by this company. read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Charged us $800 for seeding and aeration that was never done. My husband had to go to the office in Lowell to have them come back to do the job because we could not reach anyone on the phone. Today they came back to spread fertilizer and left large ruts in our newly grown grass (3 inches of rain yesterday). Insult to injury left a sign that said stay off the grass until dry! They killed my lawn - twice!!! After the first time, they replaced the sod (late Spring 2018) and we set up a service protocol. They followed it for a couple of months ... and now, one season later ... the lawn is once again in shambles! Yes - finally learned my lesson and parted ways with this company. Subpar lawn care and horrible customer service. We used them for about a year and have now cancelled their service. They never could address our yard issues... bare spots all over the yard and weeds all the time... most of the time never even looked like they sprayed. They told us last year an aeration would take care of the bare spots. It didn't help. Their customer service is horrible. They were supposed to call before they came so we could put the dogs in. Only called about 75% of the time, and then sometimes called and never showed up. Never was a person calling, always just an automated message. To that effect, the aeration guy showed up without calling and only aerated 1/2 the yard because we didn't have time to move stuff out of the way. I had to call and complain and the mgr sent out a second aeration. But then months later I get a call they were coming back. I didn't order 2 aerations. I called them and said I'd be charged. I told them to cancel. A week later the automated system called back saying they were coming for aeration again. I called and griped again; a week later I called our account. I've seen reviews that people blame them for trees dying. We had a tree die that was perfectly healthy prior to their service. I can't pin it on them but it is suspicious. We started with them because of the Scotts name recognition, but had horrible results. Stay away; do not use. Bad results; bad customer service; unprofessional! read more

Be careful with this company. They show up at your house, telling you they are here for an appointment for an extra service. I was lucky the person at home asked if I had scheduled it (no) and if it was included in the plan I was on (no). Today I received a call and was told that they were doing a treatment at several of my neighbors and would like to go ahead and schedule me for about that time (Lime treatment). I asked, if this was an extra service (yes) and what was the cost (he had to calculate). The proper way to ask for additional treatments is as follows "Hello XYZ, we are calling because we saw you did a Lime treatment last year and wanted to see if you would like to repeat that treatment this year. We have some amazing coupons that would make your payment less than last year. Last year you paid $120, this year would be $85. Can I go ahead and schedule that for you this year?" This does two things: 1) Let's me know that you know what was done last year and what it will cost this year. You having to calculate while I am on the phone means you were not ready for this call. 2) Is not some shady and deceptive way of trying to make me think this treatment is already in my plan and allowing me to be surprised with the bill at the end. And this is not the first time. EVERY time I get a call about a service, the way it is phrased makes it sound like it is already part of my plan. "I wanted to let you know we will be in your neighborhood to do the mosquito treatment. Is it ok to be there on Tuesday?" This company is banking on people not realizing it is not part of a scheduled plan so their sales people make bonus. And when you call them on it - be prepared for the "that is not at all how I approached it". read more

TruGreen lawn care has to be the WORST lawn care company! I have been a customer going on three years now. Last year I called and complained after I found I was paying them to treat the backyard and they had "forgotten" to be treating that; they had not forgotten to bill me for it... This year I have MORE weeds in my front yard than I have had in the last 2 years. What am I paying for? I called in to #trugreen on Monday and reported I was concerned with my lawn care and wanted to speak to a manager, they assured me that one would call and be at my house in the next 24-48 hours. It is Friday, I have no one at my home and no manager has called. I called again now, and the customer service gentleman informed me that it's hard to provide speedy service now due to everyone working from home. It looks as though the phones don't work at managers homes.... I chose #trugreen because they promised local knowledge, service, and best lawn care over time performance. After 3 years, I have yet to see the any of the company's promises. The customer service rep advised he would, at my request, have a manager call me within 24-48 hours. I asked great, I will speak to someone on Saturday? He said no, not until Monday, I said great on the Memorial Day, he said no, I'm afraid not until Tuesday. Remind me again about this great, local, knowledgeable service again..... sigh, any yard service other than #trugreen would be better. I believed that the man who would knock on my door during dinner and then call me back for the next three days would have the stamina and desire/work ethic to provide me with a treated, healthy, and beautiful lawn to allow my family soft green grass to enjoy. I used TruGreen at my previous home and was delighted with their service and technicians. My lawn looked much better than my neighbors who didn't use them. Since it was a new development, there were lots of weeds in other people's yards that were not in ours. We received numerous compliments from our neighbors. Since we have moved further out of town, I was worried about ticks, fleas, and mosquitoes so I am having my yard (nearly an acre) sprayed monthly. The only time I find ticks are when I venture into the wooded area surrounding our property. With deer, squirrels, foxes, and raccoons frequenting our land, we feel relieved we don't have to worry about pesky insects too. read more

If I could give less than 1 Star I would. Luckily, for us, we opted to do the bill for service plan as opposed to the yearly amount. After 4 treatments at $62 a piece, we have more weeds now than before. Generally, they were nice to deal with and quite apologetic, but unable to get rid of basic weeds after several "applications". They then tried to get me to "upgrade" my services for a more intense servicing which I abruptly declined and cancelled. If you can't get rid of the problem for what you advertise, I'm certainly not about to throw away more money on a lost product. Also, after cancelling my service, they came out and treated the yard while I was not at home. That will be a service I will not be financially responsible for. Their collection practices are terrible. We were harrrassed about a 90 day overdue bill when wee Ever got the original bill or a 30 or 60 day delinquent notice. I requested a bill, and although they finally sent it to me, they continued to harass me by phone and threaten to turn me over to collections while I was waiting to review the bill. I had using Trugreen for 3 years and always paid my bills. I will no longer be using them after this episode. read more

We paid for one year of service starting in September 2016 and suddenly get a bill in the mail in June 2017 with NO notice at all that they were going to start billing us way before the "one year of service" was up. Fraudulent sales!!! They apparently can't do simple math and claim we owe them this money even though it has not been a year yet. read more

We had Scott's Lawn service for years, people would stop in front of our house to compliment us on how good it looked. Last year TruGreen bought them out and now we have one the worst lawn in the neighborhood, my advice don't use them!!!! read more
