The salesmen will say anything to get a potential customer just to make a sale. For someone like me with a college education, a solid background and knowledge in this field, and having been a Licensed Commercial Pesticide Applicator in NYS, I am utterly baffled by the products they apply on customer properties. I have a gripe that I have addressed many times with this company to no avail. This company refuses to put the dates that they spray these chemicals on the lawn tags that are for the public. Many people leave these tags out for weeks after being sprayed and the public has no way of knowing when these lawns that say "keep children and pets off" have been sprayed. The company's response to my inquiries (I have called numerous times) is "WE ARE NOT REQUIRED BY LAW TO PUT A DATE AND/OR TIME ON THE TAGS.....THE DRIVERS DON'T HAVE TIME" - really!!!! I am in the Amherst area and every other company dates their tags. I can't believe that they need a law for a common sense issue and that their drivers are far to busy to write even just the date on these tags. I have tried many times to get this rectified. Not even close. Finally I talked to someone who said they'd send someone out. I asked that they call first to make sure I'm there. They didn't. Just left a slip telling me they burnt the lawn and just to water and not cut it for two weeks. Two months later, still burnt, and almost impossible to reach someone by phone. I finally cancelled my service but they still keep wanting to get paid. Paid for burning my lawn and not repairing it? I think not. I'll probably see them in court. read more

After fertilizing my lawn, in Hamburg NY, during a frost (everything was frozen), when the lawn thawed - everywhere there are wheel marks and footprints - my lawn is burned. It is all throughout my lawn. While I have called trugreen, and there rep has come out and taken pictures, I was billed for the application. I am leary they are going to be able to rectify the problem without reseeding the lawn. They service about 2 acres here. They said they would send a manager out in March. With all that has happened with my service, I am leary of their promises. The damages to my lawn are out right obvious and severe. TruGreen has been by far the worst company I've ever had to deal with. I called back in April to inquire about service and was sold over the phone their Total Lawn Care and mosquito defense. I asked if anyone would come out to my house to go over my property because I have a lot of bare spots from the kids that initially did my lawn (new build). The lady told me no because of "Covid" everything changed with how they interact with customers. She assured me that I was getting the best plan and if I was unsatisfied I would get a money back guarantee. I paid for full front yard, side's off property and back yard full treatment and aeration/over seed. The service techs for both lawn and mosquito had no idea what they were doing. The mosquito treatment they sprayed my 6 soccer ball size bushes in my front yard and I was "good to go" for my 1.2 acres.. There were multiple times they didn't even show up to complete the "service". The lawn care techs were just as clueless. They never even took care of my backyard. I had weeds and crab grass growing throughout my entire property. I called an complained during the whole season and asked for a manager to come out. I was assured to "give it time". Finally a manager came out in August and was appalled by how my yard looked. He guaranteed me a full season refund and was going to have his commercial team come take care of it the rest of the season. I thought wow how awesome, finally some good service from this awful company. WRONG! Not only did I not get the refund, they charged me an additional $1,400 and then refunded that. I explained to them that is not how a refund works and they refused to take care of it. The manager stopped returning my calls after he promised he would do everything in his power to make it right. They might as well be spraying water on my lawn when they come because it never makes a difference. I shouldn't have to set a reminder on my phone to call them 10 days after every application to have them come back out. I even called and told them we were getting bit per usual and they sprayed 3 times in one month the second month I used their services. I was a Funk customer. Somehow I became a Tru Green customer. They sprayed my lawn three weeks ago, and then sprayed it again with the same products last week. When I called for an explanation all I got was hand-waving. I told them I wouldn't pay for the second application unless he told me why my lawn needed a second treatment in such a short time. The customer service is horrible. I to have experienced billing issues. I changed jobs and have given them my new email and phone number 4 different times and they still have my old information on file. I received a collection notice in the mail with no explanation what so ever. I have the payments taken directly out of my account and had no idea this was even out there. It has taken me eight phone calls, 5 days and four different people to get try and get this resolved. I asked for them to send me the invoice for the service that they said they performed. I was told I would get it in the mail we will see. The women was very rude and told me several times if I paid the bill today then the collection notice would go away. I wanted to leave 0 stars but it would not let me. I wish I had done my research and read all the negative reviews about Tru Green here in Buffalo. Not a good review to be found. My issue was I could not even sign up. I tried to set up service for lawn treatment and mosquito control. All seemed well and good until they had to confirm my account. The confirmation process entails receiving an email and confirming your contact information. If you do not receive the call back in 2 minutes, all the while on the phone with the agent you just went through the whole enrollment process with, after waiting the two minutes the agent informed me that I had to speak with someone from their auditing department by phone and that they would transfer me. I would like to point out that the female agent I was dealing with polite and professional, no issues there. Upon transferring to auditing I was promptly hung up on. I called back the 800 service number and the automated response stated waiting times are 45 minutes to an hour, so I decided to simply call back what appeared to be the local number that had called me after my online inquiry. Well that went right to their national call center. Again I got a very polite professional agent to assist me and after looking into for a few minutes stated that I had to speak with the auditing department, went through my whole spiel and he said he would wait on the line with me until the auditor was on the line. Well, the auditor he called also hung up on him. After another attempt he assured me that someone would call me back. After waiting far more time than I had to waste, I called back the sign up number which was promptly answered by a human being, explained that my account was in limbo and I simply wanted to make sure my request for service was cancelled. Had them for 12 years starting in about '07. Quit them when one of their employees service my lawn, and then when he was finished he left a note on the door as usual about the condition, and care of the lawn. When I read the note it said "do not water lawn for 24 hours". It was raining when he put down the application. ?? I called and asked for an answer and was told if I don't see an improvement I can call and they would re-apply the product. How would I see an improvement, my lawn was fine before. Just started True Green Lawn Service, first scheduled service was today, 9/24/18. It's 8pm and True Green did not arrive for the service. I signed up for the text service to be advised when they were coming. Advised I was scheduled for the Noon-5pm time slot. Late in the afternoon I was advised they were "on the way...." Each advise was later and later. Just advised that they are unable to perform service on the scheduled date. They deceived me all day, now they are closed. I used True Green in Selkirk, NY several years ago and had to cancel the contract for NON-PERFORMANCE. Customer Service does not exist at True Green. After my 1st experience in Selkirk, I swore I'd never use them again. Can't wait to here all the excuses and apologies tomorrow morning! True Green will be cancelled again! Unbelievable! read more

Gave them a second try this year. They actually showed up on schedule and did a good job until the Fall treatment. Showed up after we got 2 inches of rain that day, and drove around on a power spreader, rutting up the entire lawn. The idea is you pay them to have a green, lush lawn, not destroy your lawn. Unacceptable and uncalled for. Now will need to look at ruts for the next 6-7 months until Spring. read more

I signed up for service, with money back guarantee. Received two treatments in the fall. They killed the grass in some areas by applying too much chemical, and went right over freshly seeded grass. Meanwhile, there was constant rain, so as luck would have it, killed grass, but weeds are great. Asked for refund for both treatments, willing to try again in Spring, but didn't get my money's worth. They would only credit one treatment. So, I wasted $140.00, and didn't apply my own weed and feed, because I had finally decided to let the professionals do it, even though it was going to cost more. Well, it's gonna cost a whole lot more to reseed at $100.00 per bag of grass seed for the already seeded area, and to fix everything they killed. If you want something done right, do it yourself. For $600.00 I can apply twice as much weed and feed and have some control over the results. read more

There were two incidents regarding this company. Both times they only completed a portion of my yard. Only the front yard was done where as the back and side yard were not done. It is not because of a locked gate because the gate does NOT have a lock on it. The side yard has no fence. After the second time I called and told them I will not be going through them anymore. They took an absolutely beautiful lawn that I spent an arm and leg on last year (went with Pinnacle the only thing about there service I didn't like in the motorize machine they use to drive on your lawn with because mine can get very wet and they still use it.) to clean it up but this year decided to go with trugreen and absolutely regret it. They charged me for 7 applications April-Oct to date they have showed up for 3 they did not show up for July and Aug. When I called I was told they didn't miss applications because there spray is good for July thru Sept so the fact that my lawn is full of crabgrass and weeds and once they spray and possibly kill them I will have bare spots all over my yard which I spent money reseeding it last because of all the weeds that where killed last year. Was promised service within one week only to find out after the fact there is a 10 day waiting period before service can start. Was then scheduled for service, no one showed after I was guaranteed service that day. Call the next day only to be told I'd have to wait another 10 days before I could get back on the schedule. On September 17th, 2018 I had service from TruGreen. My lawn was supposed to have been treated with fertilizer and broadleaf control. I was out of town at the time, but did get a call from my lawn maintenance man to tell me that he rode by my house and saw that part of my lawn had been burnt. He stopped by, saw that TruGreen had done some work on the 17th and left the service notification hanging from my front door. He sent me several pictures of the damaged side and back lawn. I live on a corner lot and typically when the spray is done they spray the front yard, then get in the truck, go to the side street so as to better reach to spray the side and the backyard. The front yard looks green, and perfectly healthy. The backyard is a mess of green and totally dead grass from where he either over sprayed the fertilizer or grabbed the wrong hose and sprayed something to kill the grass. I contacted TruGreen the first time on Monday the 22nd and explained my issue. On the 25th I got a call from someone named Wilbur who had been out to look at the lawn. He started to talk to me about some dead grass under one of the trees on the healthy part of the lawn, and I asked him what he was talking about. I said did you not notice that the entire back yard and side yard of my lawn is burnt ? He said that he did see that but thought that was the result of heat stress. So I asked him if he actually thought that the front of my house which was all green healthy grass did not get heat stress but the back of my house did?! I told him I had several pictures that I could share with him. He asked me to text him the pictures so he could share that with his manager and have him call me back. I texted him those pictures the same day. A week from my initial call I'm still waiting for a contact from someone who can help me. I've called several times and always am promised a manager will call me back. I was told that Managers do not have direct phone numbers, and the only way to get in touch with them is through their computer system. The customer service agent actually told me that even she could not get in touch with a manager directly. She inputs the data into their computer system and hopefully somebody will actually act on it. Since I've called there multiple times and had three different people notate the problems I'm having I assume there's probably more comments on my account record then they care to read because they haven't called me back yet!
