Terrible company. Long story short: We PREPAID for army worm treatment for two acres (over $500). After two no-shows, they spent 50 minutes on our property, walking behind a push-spreader (we have multiple cameras on the property). (Should have taken SEVERAL HOURS for this large of a property, according to the manager in Topeka when we confronted him.) 3 weeks later, we continued to see worms. Went to the local office to complain, and they said they couldn't do anything. Later that day, the guy left us a message saying they were going to give us a free re-treatment. TWO MORE NO-SHOWS. A guy finally showed up, walked around for 6 minutes looking at the grass in a couple areas (NOT THE AREAS WE SAW WORMS), and left. The fine print states that they only treated "affected areas", despite the fact that we PAID for TWO FULL ACRES of treatment, up front. Despicable business practice. Uncaring, cold customer service, once you get past the initial salespeople. DON'T HIRE THEM. read more

I had TruGreen in 2012 and was quite happy with their lawn broadleaf spray services. I went through 7 or 8 monthly applications with the tell-tale spray odor that included meaningless fertilization. Great weed management. Forward to fall 2023 and re-signing for 7 weed treatments over 12 months and to be told by the representative he would include fertilization for free (I know better). Four treatments were jammed through in fall 2023 and only 1 represented a spray truck for broadband weed control but was onsite only 12 minutes (per onsite cameras) for a 15,000 square foot lawn. There never was any chemical odor so who knows if it really was comprehensive or done at all. Fast track to May 2024, Trugreen applied fertilizer to a home one block away that was my scheduled visit. The April visit was 8 minutes of nitrogen application so thinly spread that I measured a 9 sq, ft area and found only 4 bright white nitrogen pellets. I cancelled the service in May 2024 after the wrong house visit and a lawn over-run by weeds. Five actual service visits, one lawn spray out of those 5 that is questionable as to if it ever occurred. Fertilizer spread too sparingly is cheap. Nitrogen in bulk is cheap. Actual broadleaf weed management is a science and requires time onsite. That's what $102.21 a visit was for, but sadly that's not what TruGreen provided. read more

This was first application they did, so not sure yet if grass will turn brown like all the other reviews say, should have read them first. took them 3 minutes to apply to entire yard, not sure if they got all the areas, looks like the fertilizer was flying in the air. I called the main number asking to have a list of what each application consist of and what months its done. The clueless guy on the phone could not give me that, (every other company has it on their website or will email it). He said my customer number dont exist. He said they don't apply anything from May-Aug because its to hot out and they dont work when it is hot out. He said they don't apply grub control or spray for Nutsedge. But after they sent me an email that yard was done, it shows they did spray for Nutsedge. Not sure if this was really done. The guy on phone said he don't get lawn service so knows nothing about what is done. So incompetent employees sounds like. He says he will email me the list, but never did. I tried calling back the original person who set up services, no answer, no call back. at first they called me 15 times a day, with no messages trying to get my business. The original cost was 86.00 per application, when another person called it was 56.00 plus tax what a difference. May try once more and see how it goes. hopefully they wont charge my card once I cancel, like all the others have claimed. They were suppose to do a grass analysis and let me know if I had any grubs etc, and what grass I had, no report back on this. They would quickly apply fertilizer, but miss most of my yard. You could tell they were trying to get in and out and quick as possible. There was one event caught on my cameras where the gentleman applied only around my driveway so it looked like fertilizer had been applied. I'm still fighting to get them back and apply the fertilizer that was missed from the last treatment. This has been paid in full at $80, but I don't anticipate to receive a refund or have the work completed. I would recommend going with one of your local lawn care services. read more

I canceled their service (after giving them several chances) in the fall. I had to make several phone calls to get in touch with them even at that to cancel fall services. Since, they have now charged me again for a service in the spring that I had already cancelled. They keep charging you and have you go through hours of work to get it ended. At this point (6 months plus later) no one will help me and the online log on does not allow you to cancel. I called before 9:30 am today with a wait time of 60 minutes. Their machine offered to let you hold your place and get a call back. After two hours of waiting I put in a chat. (Still no call back.) I was 78th in line for chat only to receive a message that I needed to call the 800 number again. I called again and it was 1-2 hours for a call back. They again never called me back. Today I spent 1 hour and 54 minutes waiting on hold just to finally talk to them to get a "partial refund". Over two hours waiting on the phone. What a joke of a company! read more

Not any better this year. Moved service 3 times already, manager was to call me within 48hrs, but never did and worse than that never has. Service they said they were going to apply had pre-emergent even though had requested and was told they would apply fertilizer only as late fall/early spring seeding was done. However in speaking with the rep on phone she says they are planning to apply pre-emergent. That are much better services out there. read more

Since they have bought out Scott Lawn Service, which I was with at first. I had 10 trees die while they were carrying for them. When brought to their attention, I was told by Brandon, one of the customers reps that I could not talk to the supervisor or the arborist. But only could give me 10 percent off my price. Now, I have to take down every tree which is up in the thousands. Ten percent is nothing for what they have cost me as a customer. read more

It is pretty unbelievable that someone in today's age would come to your house, do less than half the promised work, and then leave a note on your door saying they did it all. This is the SECOND time a trugreen "specialist" has shown up, did part of the service to part of the yard, then left. They are supposed to aerate and overseed the whole yard, front and back, instead the tech aerated the front, and left, leaving a note that they did the whole yard and put down 12 pounds of seed, which is a straight up lie because I was here the whole time watching them. Their customer service promised someone would come out and complete the treatment, but honestly, I'm just done with them. They charge too much to BS me about the services they perform. Very frustrating experience. Our regular service was not scheduled, or was cancelled, each time it was due. I would have to continually call to get service scheduled for my lawn treatments, which were supposed to be every 4-6 weeks. Long wait times on the phone! Each time a technician came, I had to walk the lawn with them, or they would miss part of our property. One time the dogs were out, so he just left instead of letting me know he was here so I could lock them up. This is the 2nd year we've contracted with them. I lost my child this summer; and when I didn't have time to call them, my lawn went untreated for 12 weeks, until I was able to call to get it scheduled. That's unacceptable. Then by the end of the season, they were coming every 2 weeks, just to play catch-up and get all their treatments in, so they wouldn't lose money! There were a few times that I had to call back for a re-treat, because no weeds died after treatment. I'm not sure if it was a treatment failure or the technician just didn't do his job. One time he was literally here for 10 minutes, and I have a big lawn. Our lawn looked fantastic early in the season, but bad by the end of the summer. I made an inquiry to get information about lawn treatment. A representative called me and asked what I was wanting out of their services. I told him that I had a bare patch of grass and some yellow spots that I wanted to fill in and just to have the nice green lawn overall. He gave me a total that I felt was very high by not even seeing or knowing how large my lawn was. I told him my lawn was very small and how he got the total without even knowing how large the lawn was. He advised it's a set price and they would just keep coming out for treatment. I said I would like to get other estimates before committing to $2000 for lawn service right now. He then said we are the best so why get another quote. I said I'm not comfortable just paying that much money without seeing about other options. He then says well if you find a better price we can just match it. I told him I will definitely keep that in mind after I shop around some more. He said we can get you on the schedule for next week. I said I haven't gotten any other pricing I just told you I wanted to do yet. He then says there is no reason to get any other pricing. Then while I was trying to respond he just hangs up on me. So I do not believe I will be considering TruGreen for my lawn services even if they are the best company and pricing around. read more

Their communication was a little inconsistent, and I could not reach customer due to always having to wait on the live chat que. We just wanted to get some life on our lawn before selling our home, and I just don't think they were doing the best they could to help us. Might try everything local going forward. We've had Trugreen for a few months. Last Tuesday they treated our beautiful lawn and the next day it started turning brown. I called customer service (it will take 3 days to come out) next day worse. I called and spoke with GM Supervisor Rob. He assured me he would personally be out either Saturday morning or at the latest on Monday. NO show, NO call. On Wednesday a salesman called to sell more service, I explained the situation and he said he would get right on it and call me back himself. It's Thursday late, no call. Beware of this company. I reached out online to get a quote. We spoke to an agent to get that and she was very hard sell and tried to cross-sell us on many services we do not need. Now we are getting many calls and text messages from other Trugreen agents trying to close the sale. It has actually gotten harassing now. Even if they had ended up being our top choice, we would not do business with them just because of how they are choosing to deal with us. I have used TruGreen for years on my lawn but this last time they did a application to get rid of them violets out of my yard and it killed my yard all over everywhere and the manager Brandon said I had Brown's disease my yard wasn't Brown prior to their application and they have not done anything about it nobody wants to come out and look at it expect for just the workers that don't have any clue they have to contact their manager anyway I will never use them again . beware i have pictures of my yard but I can't show you guys it won't let me post any. read more

I rarely write negative reviews, so whoever is reading this, consider this a WARNING more than a review. Do not use this company for fertilizing, PREsubmergence, or anything. They do not stand behind their work. And there is not a person you'll even be able to get a hold of that has any authority or power. We worked for years to have grass on a very shaded half acre backyard. After we had a great looking backyard full of grass and held mini garden parties and baby and bridal showers, we decided to hire truegreen for seasonal fertilizing. After several applications we didn't see our yard looking better and called them, they said they would tweak the formula and continue with the scheduled seasonal applications. Well by fall when the spring and summer applications were finished we had no grass at all!!!! After dozens of phone calls and hours wasted on different people that had no answers we were NOT EVER even reimbursed for our applications. Much less having someone come out and reseed our lawn. No money back for the water the seed or even the companies applications!!!!!!! RUN AWAY!!!! Absolute waste of money. The first treatment was well and for about 3 days lawn looked healthier. After about 3 treatments (18 week period and $240 later) the cloves in the yard died off and left bare spots (but still had zero tips or advice for watering or even improving the lawn) which crab grass immediately took over and now is quickly spreading across the 80% of lawn which I TREATED MYSELF and looks great. I found crabgrass and weed control for 18$ which will get me through an entire summer and I will now to a monthly granular fertilizer and weed control for 52$ all at Home Depot. They came and closed my sprinkler system and when I turned it back on it started leaking. We have had trugreen on and off for several years. On May 31 of this year we had a treatment. In less than a week, the grass turned brown where machine had been going through the grass. We called and they sent the technician who had applied. He told us he had never seen anything like it, and took pictures to take back to his supervisor. . No more follow up was ever done. We have called countless times, we have been lied to, and no one has ever come back. That's been three weeks, and still no on has helped with this problem. We have been told twice now that someone would be out within 72 hours. That was nine days ago, and if my math is correct that's just a few more than 72 hours. I've even made a phone call to corporate, and called back the supervisor on numerous occasions. He never answers his phone, but I leave a voicemail. He fails to return calls. I want this resolved. Was told $88 dollars over the phone for aeration lawn, got charged $276. Called in to find out why it was more and they said "it was already done", but they hadn't done the service. Called in to cancel and it took over an hour on the phone with 2 people - total nightmare. read more

Horrible lawn care. My lawn has 10 times more weeds than any other on my street. When I called, they told me that my address seems to have been "overlooked" for the last two treatments. I asked that a manager call me and have not heard a peep. I cannot imagine they can stay in business with lawn control this poor. Since I did this they have littered my email with spam, constant phone calls, and now they have put me in a group text with over 300 people and my phone is constantly alerting me that I am getting texts. Trugreen has the complete package in caring for my lawn. They do the seeding and aerating in the Fall, as well as applying fertilizer to build the root system throughout the winter. They also do weed control, pest control, grub control applications throughout the year. My yard looks great, very thick grass, a healthy color of green, and weed free. All I have to do is mow and water, they do all the rest. read more

Very unhappy with service: They over sprayed our yard into our neighbors yard, they over sprayed bushes killing them, they seeded our yard too late in the season, they only seeded the front yard and not the back or side yards. We have used TruGreen for several years for chemical treatments on our not for profit housing community. Over the past couple of years, as off site management I noticed that conditions were worsening but we were still paying for service. Last year, during an on-site supervisor's illness, I became more involved/hands on in operations on the property. I found that TruGreen would bill us for service, but no one could verify their presence on property. I chose not to renew their contract for 2020, but after spending at least a couple of hours with Stacey, their sales rep, I was persuaded to give them another chance. When the pandemic started (and before the first application was to be applied), I sent all contractors/vendors instructions on two simple things - a Purchase Order would be required prior to any work beginning (SOP in property management) and the contractors needed to check in with me when they arrived and when they left since our on-site crew wasn't at full capacity due to the pandemic. They were provided an office number, and email and a cell number to check in and out, and no other action was required. I had to inquire with TruGreen because I hadn't heard from them and it was about time for the first application. I was told by Stacey they 'would be coming soon' so I reminded her she would be issued a PO when I had a date, and reminded them of the written agreement we had concerning checking in. About 2-3 weeks later I logged into our account to review prices on something from the previous year, and I see an invoice there for lawn treatment - no PO issued, no phone call, no invoice even sent to me - just an invoice for services. When I inquired, there was no cooperation at all; just an answer of 'well, we were there and sprayed'. I tried to get answers but there were none. So I cancelled the contract due to their failure to fulfill, and I put in writing that I could not verify the work was done so I couldn't pay per our HOURS of conversation about the very issue we just faced. I appealed to a supervisor and asked if we could discuss it, they refused and just said we owe the money and they will send it to collections if not paid. So I am now dealing with that. Bottom line - there is zero accountability in this company. Do not sign a contract with them. They did not uphold their end of the agreement which I feel was simple and necessary during the pandemic.
