Signed on for season after having sod installed. Sod looked fabulous until the treatments began; looks like square shaped areas where grass died off completely due to excess fertilizer. On a side note, driving today with truck #150 license plate 2B 0198 close by, driver clearly not paying attention and pulled his truck right in front of me on the highway almost causing multi car accident. This is the second year of working with TruGreen, and I got suckered into all the services. Positive: Our yard is a tremendous improvement over last year. However, we are still waiting for our weed treatment, so we still had to live with dandelions this year. Negative: They are not responsive, and their customer service is horrible. Forget about actually talking to someone local. Sure, they will come back for re applications, but it could be weeks. I've had to call customer service 5 times since May 1st because they don't do what they say they are going to do. The mosquito defense is a rip-off, doesn't make a difference, and good luck getting them back in a timely manner. read more

I had Trugreen several years ago at my other property and did not re-new my plans. I figured after a couple of years give them a try again, and again another bad choice. I have called a couple of times for weed control and yet no one shows up. They have ruined my front lawn. I have also had a mosquito control plan and also called them to come up and treat again. Now we have a storm coming this Monday and it will be cancelled and with no date to comeback. Very poor scheduling. Call the 800 number and all you get is a person reading from a script and not knowing what to do to satisfy a customer. You call your sales rep and no help there, if the sales rep cannot help why have them when you have to dial the 800 number to get any type of service. Just a bad service and waste of money, I need to get my money back and do my lawn myself with Scotts fertilizer program and hire a independent contractor for mosquito control. I do not recommend this company to anyone. As a new customer I called to have someone come out to fertilize and spray my trees and hedges. Instead, I got talked into doing the lawn too. They have made one trip so far. Still waiting for the tree service. Five times I told them the only day I was unavailable was on Tuesdays. Every time, they have scheduled service for Tuesday. Every time, I have to call and have them reschedule. Then wait another two weeks only to find out that it is scheduled for a Tuesday again. When I call customer service I am on the phone for at least an hour and can never be assured they are paying attention. I have used the online chat several times and honestly, left feeling frustrated and angry. I emailed a complaint specifying my concerns twice, and a few days later I got an email from Nancy, acting as though she didn't know what I was talking about. One time a manager called me and I explained everything to him and then two days later, they scheduled me for a Tuesday service. I have never been more infuriated! This company obviously does not want my business and from the reviews I have been reading, it is a wonder they are even still in business. After being on the online chat for over 45 minutes the rep asked me to give them a second chance. I hesitated but thought maybe they would do better. This has not been the case and I am canceling service with these people. Do not waste your time. After 3 minutes on my property, I fired Tru Green! One of the worst companies I have ever hired. After very, very aggressive marketing by their salesperson, I agreed to have the lawn treated on the following Wednesday. However, they never showed up. But did arrive this morning at 8:45 without any prior notice as stated, in the "Welcome" new customer email. They did everything wrong. I tried TruGreen this year because I wanted to improve my lawn. After a few treatments my lawn looks awful; I have bare spots, dandelions, ants and other beetles. My lawn looked so much better last year. It looks like the without TruGreen photos that compare without and with side by side. The technician comes so early (6 a.m.) I never get speak to them. I would never recommend to anyone. Do the research and talk to someone at your local home garden center it won't cost as much to care for your lawn as compared to TruGreen package. National Sales team is nice and slick with an APP and all. Local team in Maine ? Non existent nor available for follow up calls or questions. Mid May and a yard still full of weeds, won't come back to treat "until the next scheduled service". What about the guarantee ? Nope, read the fine print folks. Terrible company! Don't even bother with them. Our first application was not done correctly and was only a spot treatment for fertilizer and weeds. Now our weeds are out of control and I have at least a thousand dandelions and crabgrass. Our lawn looks awful. Don't waste your money with this company. I have spoken with at least three supervisors and requested they do the job correctly. I have called the company at least 30 times regarding this issue. They all guarantee that someone will come back and fix it. Second time they showed up they spot treated it again and lawn looks even worse. Third time the employee at true green said that the spot treatment would not correct our issue and our lawn was not treated correctly. I told him not to bother that I needed the treatment done right. Fourth visit true green cancelled at 5:55 pm after I waited all afternoon. I honestly don't know why TG is sooo popular around here. We bought a new house with a grub problem which was quickly spreading. When I called and told my concern that the grubs were spreading and we needed service ASAP they promised to come out in few days. I week went by and the grubs had a little feast on our grass. I called back to ask when they were coming and they said they were really busy and couldn't come for another few days. Seems like they want people to sign up for service plans instead of individual treatments. read more

When you call to check about your appointment I think they just grab an appof the yeast to p you off the phone. I think it's time to report it to the Better Business Bureau. We had so many negative experiences in the short three months we tried using TruGreen. They came and did the first application, and all seemed OK. We pre-paid for 6 applications, so they would be returning automatically. They were supposed to come back in 4 weeks, but came back in 6 weeks. (I should have checked the date sooner, but I also shouldn't have to do that, either.) Customer service apologized when I realized the error, and came out after I called. Two weeks after the second spray, we noticed a ton of mosquitos, so we called for our free re-spray. The day of the re-spray, I got the notification that they were on their way, but I never got a notification that they completed the spray. Turns out, they just never showed, and never called to let us know, or apologize, or reschedule. When I called two days later (I was out of town, and didn't realize the non-notification until then) they apologized profusely and said they would come out in 48 hours. That never happened, and they showed up a week and a half later for our next monthly, scheduled appointment. I was home when they came, and they were there for all of two minutes - never once going into our back yard. I called and cancelled our last three sprays, and asked for a refund. When they actually do come to spray, it seems effective, but it's too much of a hassle to have to check in constantly and call to get them to honor the services I paid for. read more

I would recommend never using this company. They have by far the worst billing department and customer service I have ever dealt with of any company ever. It took several months, repeated calls, and many many attempts to solve what should have been a simple issue. Even when I simply tried to pay my bill in full so I could cancel my service they couldn't do that right. We were Lawn Dog customers before they were acquired by Tru Green. Lawn Dog was great , Tru Green is horrible. We have cancelled our contract and will be seeking alternatives next season. My advice to anyone. STAY FAR FAR AWAY from this company. read more

We have had this service for 4 years, We were happy for 3 this past year has been terrible service. Technician would come out and apply fertilizer to the lawn by walking in a circle around the middle of our lawn, never reaching the outer edges. Our neighbor also had the same company, they would walk down the middle of the two lawns, only one pass and call it good.{ our neighbor gave up on them before we did} When asked to do the edges we would get attitude and excuses why he couldn't. We had them skip months. The lawn became brown, with a large amount of moss in one section. We had someone from the company come out to see the lawn, he apologized and agreed that the service had not been good and redid the application. They then missed a treatment again. We then had them show up 5 days apart and charged us for both. read more

Just learned that the supposedly "organic" mosquito treatment that TruGreen applied in our yard most recently, Bifenthrin, is highly toxic to fish and small aquatic organisms, and bees, which may explain why the bees that we usually see this time of year around our catmint are absent. It is also a "possible" human carcinogen according to one article I read. TruGreen advised us in the spring of this year that they were using the peppermint/cedar oil mix that was used by Lawn Dawg, the company that TruGreen took over. Can't say I'm surprised about this switch in chemicals without notification from TruGreen. There is very little that is safe about the product they are using - if you are getting their "organic" mosquito treatment, read up on it before you let them apply it again. read more

I am taking a moment to update an earlier comment - my lawn was severely damaged by grubs despite being treated annually by TruGreen. Their response was to come over and pull up part of the damaged sod in the font yard, side lawn and back lawn, leaving about 60% and dumping the sod on the edge of my property. (I told them it would be OK to put the sod in a depression in the back yard OR further out into a field, but they put it in between both locations where I normally mow). The result was a poor repair that has not taken at all, despite my watering etc. Indeed, I have a bunch of weeds in the areas that they seeded that I have never seen before. I also have a very small clover plant everywhere and quite a bit of crab grass. When I called TruGreen and left messages, they call back on a restricted number and do not leave an actual number to call them back. Since they call me during the day, I am working and they have called while I was in meetings etc. Strange that they have such little interest in actual contact. They have stopped coming by to even check their work and when I called last time, the person in the office actually cancelled my account! Suffice to say I have given up on TG and their terrible service and results. I have a person scheduled to repair the damage TG left for me to repair; it will cost about $1150 to fix the damage to the lawn and general decline in the entire lawn that started when TG bought out Lawn Dawg... read more

They approached my house and guaranteed me a great lawn. They did spotty and sporadic work and after a month they were still far from completion. I told them to stop work on my lawn and I paid my bill in full. Weeks later I received a second bill for a consoltation fee, this was the first I'd heard of it. I wasn't happy with their service and should not have paid them for the work they did as it didn't live up to the guanantee. They have persisted in pestering me over this 'bill' and I easily consider their customer service the worst I've ever dealt with. They are truly horrible and a disgrace to honest hard working lawn care businesses. read more
