We were disappointed all around with this restaurant. The ground beef was powdery with odd seasoning and taste. The waitress said that rice and beans was included with a meal, but then we were charged almost $5 to add rice and beans to the taco dinner. She apologized and said she made a mistake, but the manager would not remove the charge because my daughter ate a few bites of the rice and beans. The fish tacos were pathetic. The tacos were mostly stewed tomatoes, onions, and peppers with a scattering of 1/2 inch flavorless, rubbery fish cubes. My granddaughter wanted to exchange them for chicken quesadillas, but the manager said she needed to eat them. I've never had a manager speak to a customer like this. We were warned by the waitress to not let the manager see a vape pen because she will be rude about them even if you aren't vaping in the restaurant. Literally, the vape pen was just sitting on the table. Lastly, the floor was filthy and dust was seen on the counter area. The men's restroom had mold growing all along the base of the wall. Driving 35W Northbound and thought we'd try Mexican food for dinner. Found this spot and was not disappointed! Chips and salsa were the bomb. The chips were light, airy and strong enough to pick up salsa without breaking. I could eat those for a meal! Next up for dinner we got chicken enchiladas with corn tortillas instead of flour. They were seasoned well, great taste and texture. Mixed up some rice and beans and a bite on the enchiladas was fantastic! For the price, you can't go wrong. As far as taste goes it what I expect from most Mexican restaurants in Waco. The margaritas at $2.00 each were bad either. We tried Trujillo's on a Saturday for lunch because we were meeting someone in the area. The decor was what you'd expect in a Mom-and-Pop Mexican restaurant. We were promptly seated and greeted with customary chips and salsa. The chips were light and crispy, but the salsa was a bit odd.... had the consistency of tomato soup, rather than the light chunkiness of typical salsa. We also found it odd that the restaurant didn't offer sweet tea....cmon, this is Texas! My wife ordered "Mrs. T's Platter", from the appetizer menu, which had quesadillas, queso, nachos, and flautas. I decided to try the shrimp quesadillas. All in all, the food wasn't bad... fresh but unremarkable. The final off-putting aspect was the fact that they charge an extra 4% if you pay with a credit card. In the electronic age, fewer people are carrying cash. At first glance it seems like a popular place however after tasting some of the other places around town this one just doesn't hit the mark. While the staff is friendly, the food doesn't match their personality. Staying at the hotel next door is my reasoning for coming here for a late dinner. However if given the choice again I would look for something else. I had high hopes for this place right off the strip but I was just not a fan. The five star reviews here on Yelp are ridiculous. I will offer you up a picture of my food and you can judge for yourself. This place is terrible. I ordered Beef Fajita Tacos. They took some tortilla chips, added some canned re-fried beans and cheese and placed one burnt up fajita strip on each chip. That's it... No guac. No tomatoes. No lettuce. I think if I went across the road to the HEB and grabbed a frozen Mexican dinner from the freezer isle and warmed it up it would be hard to tell the difference between that, and the food here. We had a party of 20. Everyone's meal was "not great" It's also not exceptionally cheap. The cost of my Nachos was about $8. I asked for them to complete the order and make it like the picture on the menu and they returned with a plate full of chips, lettuce, beans, cheese, guacamole and sour cream.. distinctly missing were my beef fajita strips. Whoever got those on their meal can review them separately I guess. I was charged an additional $2 for guacamole and sour cream. I did not complain because I don't want to be "that guy." I'll chalk up the $2 as a learning lesson. Do not eat here. read more

What a refreshing change from the usual Mexican restaurants we frequent in Waco. Easily the best chips in town, the spicy salsa hits the spot. The large portions and low prices were a nice change. I had the chicken enchilada special for less then $7 and it was delicious! Hubby had the filet de casa, a nice sized steak which he shared a few bites with me. Excellent taste, very tender and it comes with fried potatoes, beans and a soft taco. The Margaritas were large and tasty and HALF the price we usually pay!!! The service was friendly and prompt. I would like them to have more booths, but that is all I would change. And with the new updates to the famous "Circle" the location is much less daunting. Came here on a local referral. Like the rundown rustic look, that old style used place. Friendly staff. Decent portions. Now the GHETTO part. Asked about Mole. Waitress did not know anything about what they serve, other then it's maybe brown! I asked her to go ask, and see if it's red spicy or brown cinnamon and if homemade.
