Contacted Grateful Dental and the staff was extremely accommodating with the receptionist and hygienist providing an appointment the next day for a new patient to their practice. I completed the paperwork and arrived early at the appointment, as requested. Great review until this point. On the way back to the "chair", the hygienist mentioned they wanted me to get a full mouth x-ray. I asked if there was any way not to do this. As the hygienist explained why they wanted to do it, Dr Terri came out into the hallway and as the hygienist was trying to convince me to do it, Dr Terri stated "why don't we call it done, then". Thinking she meant to skip the x-ray, i said great and started to move to the dental chair. Then Dr Terry states "No. The appointment is over" and showed me the door. I was flabbergasted at this statement. In no way was I rude in my request and would have done it with a little convincing/persuading. Apparently, they are not really looking for new patients. If anyone is looking for a new dentist, I would recommend looking elsewhere.

The care team listened, took their time, and never made me feel rushed. The atmosphere was modern, clean, and relaxed. Staff encouraged and reinforced positive habits rather than shaming anyone for what they "should" be doing -- a huge difference compared to other places. The first set of x-rays was essentially free (saving me hundreds), which stunned me. Both the dentist and hygienist were thorough, careful, and patient. I have an Excellus plan through the marketplace. They initially told me that I would receive a reimbursement check in 4-6 weeks... That time had passed so I called back and someone said they would get back to me later that day (no one ever did...). I waited another WEEK and had to call back again. When I spoke to a person this time they had trouble looking me up because the person initially taking down my information had it completely wrong... same birthday (month/day) but wrong year, same first name, but wrong last name, and the wrong street address (but the same street number...). Very odd and unprofessional - it seemed like they were trying to multitask or looking at information from two different sheets... It made enough sense to confirm it was me, but had SO MANY errors. Either way once that was resolved she said I would get a check for reimbursement withing a week. Another Week goes by and nothing so I call back AGAIN! And this time I find out that they cannot submit the claim because its through the state (I don't know how they missed that on my initial visit, but they did.) SO I had to call insurance and submit the claim on my own just to find out that Gorges dental was "out of network" - so now Im stuck paying "out of pocket". I WOULD AVOID THIS DENTIST AT ALL COST IF YOU HAVE INSURANCE THROUGH EXCELLUS, OR ANY PLAN THROUGH "THE STATE".

They get to know their patients and take the time to do the job right. The receptionist will even help with pesky insurance forms. Unfortunately, they are not an approved provider on my horrid insurance plan (very few dentists in the area are), so my visits have been pricey, but worth every penny at this point.

After painfully drilling and drilling on one tooth, I informed him that I would not be able to have the 2nd tooth worked on that day. Due to the pain I have not gone back since. The tooth that he drilled out now has a SERIOUS cavity in it, and the filling has fallen out. The other tooth, that he suggested needed the same care, is perfectly fine with no sign of a cavity at all and no pain. Do not go here unless you want your teeth ruined.

I'm just gonna start saying the nurses all are kinda rude and condescending. I have a mild german accent and during my first appointment the nurse looked at me and saying in a really rude tone "I don't know what you just said" and turned away, with 0 intent to clarify what I was trying to tell her (my accent is really not that bad and overall, just rude). 1) After the first half of my treatment I had my attachments removed, which was rather painful since your teeth get a bit sensitive from shifting around. They took a Xray and pointed out there was something to be reviewed with my dentist, and they would send the Xrays over that day. When I went to the dentist a few weeks later, they said nothing was send over. Also the dentist had to remove attachments remains that where still stuck to my teeth. When I picked up my new batch of aligners months later at Duthies, they had to drill of attachment remains AGAIN, so it took a whole 3 times of painful filing attachment residue from my teeth.. needless to say I declined getting a new set of attachments back on for the second half (and btw the aligners do their job just fine without them, even though the nurse pretend it would not work without). 2) I am currently unable to make it to their office during weekdays, and reached out over a week ago canceling my appointment asking them to send me my aligners per mail (this is something they have agreed to before, even to sending them to Europe). No response from Kim, I send another mail to a different front-desk worker (Missy), and again no response, for over a whole week they had time to read my message and respond. Today I get a text that I missed my appointment. The front desk worker Courtney wasn't aware of anything, and then proceeded to tell me that Dr Berry (who was working there before Dr Duthie retired) somehow changed their policies for sending aligners. Again, just a few months back, they where perfectly fine even sending them to my European address. For the amount of money I am paying them, I would expect more. It has also been nothing new for them not reading/ responding to my emails. 3) Petty but they misspell my name on every letter, correspondence and bill. I brought this up a few times but they cannot be arsed to correct it. Again, I'd definitely looked for a different provider would I have known all this in advance.

Called up Dr. Zax's office and the appointment making process was pleasant and quick. That's where the positivity of this review ends. I also want to preface this review with the fact that I am NOT one of those people who is terrified of the dentist. I have never been afraid of any doctor. I spent nearly three hours at their office from start to finish. For a CLEANING! A Cleaning! Waited in the waiting room for a half an hour. Sat in the torture chair for an hour and a half. Waited another half an hour for the doctor to review the Grim Reaper's work. Waited ten minutes for doctor to get off of her cell phone. Listened to the doctor try to convince me for another ten minutes that I "might" have a cavity (I am 42 years old and have never had a cavity) and that I will need to come back and get it "fixed" for a few more hundred dollars. The rooms were freezing. Maybe they need to be, I don't know. The dental assistant proceeded to tell me everything that my previous dentist had done wrong in the last twenty years. Picked at my teeth with her mouth-hatchet for far longer than I've ever had anyone do in the past. My entire mouth was sore for two days (again, a first) and I had a headache for 24 hours after that appointment. The receptionist is very cheery. So thanks for that. Good music in the office too. Yeah, that's all I got.
